1And when Bilam saw that it pleased יהוה to bless Yisra’el, he went not, as at the other times, to meet with enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. 2And Bilam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Yisra’el dwelling tribe by tribe; and the Ru’akh of Elohim came upon him. 3And he took up his mashal, and said: “The saying of Bilam the son of Be’or, and the saying of the man whose eye is opened; 4the saying of him who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of Shadai, fallen down, yet with opened eyes: 5How lovely are your tents, O Ya’akov, your dwelling places, O Yisra’el! 6As valleys stretched out, as gardens by the river-side; as aloes planted of יהוה , as cedars beside the waters; 7Water shall flow from his branches, and his seed shall be in many waters; and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. 8God, who brought him forth out of Mitzrayim, is for him like the lofty horns of the wild ox; he shall eat up the nations that are his adversaries, and shall break their bones in pieces, and pierce them through with his arrows. 9He knelt, he lay down as a lion, and as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Blessed is everyone that blesses you, and cursed is everyone that curses you’.” 10And Balak’s anger was kindled against Bilam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said unto Bilam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times. 11Therefore now flee to your place; I thought to promote you unto great honor; but, lo, יהוה has kept you back from honor.” 12And Bilam said unto Balak, “Did I not say also to your messengers that you sent unto me, saying, 13‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond what יהוה says, to do either good or bad of my own mind; what יהוה speaks, that will I speak?’ 14And now, behold, I go unto my people; come, and I will announce to you what this people shall do to your people in the Akharit HaYamim.”
15And he took up his mashal, and said, “The saying of Bilam the son of Be’or, and the saying of the man whose eye is opened; 16the saying of him who hears the words of God, and knows the knowledge of Elyon, who sees the vision of Shadai, fallen down, yet with opened eyes: 17I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; there shall step forth a star out of Ya’akov, and a scepter shall rise out of Yisra’el, and shall smite through the corners of Mo’av, and break down all the sons of Set. 18And Edom shall be a possession, Se’ir also, even his enemies, shall be a possession; while Yisra’el does valiantly. 19And out of Ya’akov shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city’.”
20And he looked on Amalek, and took up his mashal, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations; but his end shall come to destruction.” 21And he looked on the Keni, and took up his mashal, and said, “Though firm is your dwelling-place, and though your nest is set in the rock; 22nevertheless Kayin shall be wasted. How long? Ashur shall carry you away captive.” 23And he took up his mashal, and said, “Alas, who shall live after God has appointed him? 24But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim, and they shall afflict Ashur, and shall afflict Eveir, and he also shall come to destruction.” 25And Bilam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
אוַיַּרְא בִּלְעָם כִּי טוֹב בְּעֵינֵי יהוה לְבָרֵךְ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא הָלַךְ כְּפַעַם בְּפַעַם לִקְרַאת נְחָשִׁים וַיָּשֶׁת אֶל הַמִּדְבָּר פָּנָיו. בוַיִּשָּׂא בִלְעָם אֶת עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל שֹׁכֵן לִשְׁבָטָיו וַתְּהִי עָלָיו רוּחַ אֱלֹהִים. גוַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר נְאֻם בִּלְעָם בְּנוֹ בְעֹר וּנְאֻם הַגֶּבֶר שְׁתֻם הָעָיִן. דנְאֻם שֹׁמֵעַ אִמְרֵי אֵל אֲשֶׁר מַחֲזֵה שַׁדַּי יֶחֱזֶה נֹפֵל וּגְלוּי עֵינָיִם. המַה טֹּבוּ אֹהָלֶיךָ יַעֲקֹב מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל. וכִּנְחָלִים נִטָּיוּ כְּגַנֹּת עֲלֵי נָהָר כַּאֲהָלִים נָטַע יהוה כַּאֲרָזִים עֲלֵי מָיִם. זיִזַּל מַיִם מִדָּלְיָו וְזַרְעוֹ בְּמַיִם רַבִּים וְיָרֹם מֵאֲגַג מַלְכּוֹ וְתִנַּשֵּׂא מַלְכֻתוֹ. חאֵל מוֹצִיאוֹ מִמִּצְרַיִם כְּתוֹעֲפֹת רְאֵם לוֹ יֹאכַל גּוֹיִם צָרָיו וְעַצְמֹתֵיהֶם יְגָרֵם וְחִצָּיו יִמְחָץ. טכָּרַע שָׁכַב כַּאֲרִי וּכְלָבִיא מִי יְקִימֶנּוּ? מְבָרְכֶיךָ בָרוּךְ וְאֹרְרֶיךָ אָרוּר. יוַיִּחַר אַף בָּלָק אֶל בִּלְעָם וַיִּסְפֹּק אֶת כַּפָּיו וַיֹּאמֶר בָּלָק אֶל בִּלְעָם לָקֹב אֹיְבַי קְרָאתִיךָ וְהִנֵּה בֵּרַכְתָּ בָרֵךְ זֶה שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים. יאוְעַתָּה בְּרַח לְךָ אֶל מְקוֹמֶךָ אָמַרְתִּי כַּבֵּד אֲכַבֶּדְךָ וְהִנֵּה מְנָעֲךָ יהוה מִכָּבוֹד. יבוַיֹּאמֶר בִּלְעָם אֶל בָּלָק הֲלֹא גַּם אֶל מַלְאָכֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר שָׁלַחְתָּ אֵלַי דִּבַּרְתִּי לֵאמֹר, יגאִם יִתֶּן לִי בָלָק מְלֹא בֵיתוֹ כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב לֹא אוּכַל לַעֲבֹר אֶת פִּי יהוה לַעֲשׂוֹת טוֹבָה אוֹ רָעָה מִלִּבִּי אֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר יהוה אֹתוֹ אֲדַבֵּר. ידוְעַתָּה הִנְנִי הוֹלֵךְ לְעַמִּי לְכָה אִיעָצְךָ אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה הָעָם הַזֶּה לְעַמְּךָ בְּאַחֲרִית הַיָּמִים.
טווַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר נְאֻם בִּלְעָם בְּנוֹ בְעֹר וּנְאֻם הַגֶּבֶר שְׁתֻם הָעָיִן. טזנְאֻם שֹׁמֵעַ אִמְרֵי אֵל וְיֹדֵעַ דַּעַת עֶלְיוֹן מַחֲזֵה שַׁדַּי יֶחֱזֶה נֹפֵל וּגְלוּי עֵינָיִם. יזאֶרְאֶנּוּ וְלֹא עַתָּה אֲשׁוּרֶנּוּ וְלֹא קָרוֹב דָּרַךְ כּוֹכָב מִיַּעֲקֹב וְקָם שֵׁבֶט מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל וּמָחַץ פַּאֲתֵי מוֹאָב וְקַרְקַר כָּל בְּנֵי שֵׁת. יחוְהָיָה אֱדוֹם יְרֵשָׁה וְהָיָה יְרֵשָׁה שֵׂעִיר אֹיְבָיו וְיִשְׂרָאֵל עֹשֶׂה חָיִל. יטוְיֵרְדְּ מִיַּעֲקֹב וְהֶאֱבִיד שָׂרִיד מֵעִיר.
כוַיַּרְא אֶת עֲמָלֵק וַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר רֵאשִׁית גּוֹיִם עֲמָלֵק וְאַחֲרִיתוֹ עֲדֵי אֹבֵד. כאוַיַּרְא אֶת הַקֵּינִי וַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר אֵיתָן מוֹשָׁבֶךָ וְשִׂים בַּסֶּלַע קִנֶּךָ. כבכִּי אִם יִהְיֶה לְבָעֵר קָיִן עַד מָה אַשּׁוּר תִּשְׁבֶּךָּ. כגוַיִּשָּׂא מְשָׁלוֹ וַיֹּאמַר אוֹי מִי יִחְיֶה מִשֻּׂמוֹ אֵל. כדוְצִים מִיַּד כִּתִּים וְעִנּוּ אַשּׁוּר וְעִנּוּ עֵבֶר וְגַם הוּא עֲדֵי אֹבֵד. כהוַיָּקָם בִּלְעָם וַיֵּלֶךְ וַיָּשָׁב לִמְקֹמוֹ וְגַם בָּלָק הָלַךְ לְדַרְכּוֹ.
