1Then the daughters of Tzelofehad Ben Khefer, Ben Gilad, Ben Makhir, Ben Menasheh, of the families of Menasheh the son of Yosef, drew near; and these are the names of his daughters: Makhlah, No’ah, and Khoglah, and Milkah, and Tirtzah. 2And they stood before Moshe, and before El Azar the kohen, and before the princes and all the assembly, at the door of the Ohel Mo’ed, saying, 3“Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of them that gathered themselves together against יהוה in the company of Korakh, but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons. 4Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he had no son? Give unto us a possession among the brethren of our father.” 5And Moshe brought their cause before יהוה .
6And יהוה spoke unto Moshe, saying, 7“The daughters of Tzelofehad speak right: you shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. 8And you shall speak unto B’nei Yisra’el, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. 9And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. 10And if he has no brethren, then you shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren. 11And if his father has no brethren, then you shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it. And it shall be unto B’nei Yisra’el a statute of judgment, as יהוה commanded Moshe.”
12And יהוה said unto Moshe, “Get yourself up into this mountain of Avarim, and behold the land which I have given unto B’nei Yisra’el. 13And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered unto your people, as Aharon your brother was gathered; 14because you rebelled against My mitzvah in the wilderness of Tzin, in the strife of the assembly, to set Me apart at the waters before their eyes.” These are the waters of Meribat-kadesh in the wilderness of Tzin.
15And Moshe spoke unto יהוה , saying, 16“Let יהוה , the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the assembly, 17who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the assembly of יהוה be not as sheep which have no shepherd.” 18And יהוה said unto Moshe, “Take Yehoshua Bin Nun, a man in whom the Ru’akh is, and lay your hand upon him; 19and set him before El Azar the kohen, and before all the assembly; and give him a charge in their sight. 20And you shall put of your splendor upon him, that all the assembly of B’nei Yisra’el may hearken. 21And he shall stand before El Azar the kohen, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before יהוה ; at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all B’nei Yisra’el with him, even all the assembly.” 22And Moshe did as יהוה commanded him; and he took Yehoshua, and set him before El Azar the kohen, and before all the assembly. 23And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as יהוה spoke by the hand of Moshe.
אוַתִּקְרַבְנָה בְּנוֹת צְלָפְחָד בֶּן חֵפֶר בֶּן גִּלְעָד בֶּן מָכִיר בֶּן מְנַשֶּׁה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹת מְנַשֶּׁה בֶן יוֹסֵף וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֹתָיו מַחְלָה נֹעָה וְחָגְלָה וּמִלְכָּה וְתִרְצָה. בוַתַּעֲמֹדְנָה לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה וְלִפְנֵי אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וְלִפְנֵי הַנְּשִׂיאִם וְכָל הָעֵדָה פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד לֵאמֹר, גאָבִינוּ מֵת בַּמִּדְבָּר וְהוּא לֹא הָיָה בְּתוֹךְ הָעֵדָה הַנּוֹעָדִים עַל יהוה בַּעֲדַת קֹרַח כִּי בְחֶטְאוֹ מֵת וּבָנִים לֹא הָיוּ לוֹ. דלָמָּה יִגָּרַע שֵׁם אָבִינוּ מִתּוֹךְ מִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹ כִּי אֵין לוֹ בֵּן תְּנָה לָּנוּ אֲחֻזָּה בְּתוֹךְ אֲחֵי אָבִינוּ. הוַיַּקְרֵב מֹשֶׁה אֶת מִשְׁפָּטָן לִפְנֵי יהוה .
ווַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר, זכֵּן בְּנוֹת צְלָפְחָד דֹּבְרֹת נָתֹן תִּתֵּן לָהֶם אֲחֻזַּת נַחֲלָה בְּתוֹךְ אֲחֵי אֲבִיהֶם וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ אֶת נַחֲלַת אֲבִיהֶן לָהֶן. חוְאֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל תְּדַבֵּר לֵאמֹר אִישׁ כִּי יָמוּת וּבֵן אֵין לוֹ וְהַעֲבַרְתֶּם אֶת נַחֲלָתוֹ לְבִתּוֹ. טוְאִם אֵין לוֹ בַּת וּנְתַתֶּם אֶת נַחֲלָתוֹ לְאֶחָיו. יוְאִם אֵין לוֹ אַחִים וּנְתַתֶּם אֶת נַחֲלָתוֹ לַאֲחֵי אָבִיו. יאוְאִם אֵין אַחִים לְאָבִיו וּנְתַתֶּם אֶת נַחֲלָתוֹ לִשְׁאֵרוֹ הַקָּרֹב אֵלָיו מִמִּשְׁפַּחְתּוֹ וְיָרַשׁ אֹתָהּ וְהָיְתָה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְחֻקַּת מִשְׁפָּט כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יהוה אֶת מֹשֶׁה.
יבוַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה עֲלֵה אֶל הַר הָעֲבָרִים הַזֶּה וּרְאֵה אֶת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. יגוְרָאִיתָה אֹתָהּ וְנֶאֱסַפְתָּ אֶל עַמֶּיךָ גַּם אָתָּה כַּאֲשֶׁר נֶאֱסַף אַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ. ידכַּאֲשֶׁר מְרִיתֶם פִּי בְּמִדְבַּר צִן בִּמְרִיבַת הָעֵדָה לְהַקְדִּישֵׁנִי בַמַּיִם לְעֵינֵיהֶם הֵם מֵי רִיבַת קָדֵשׁ מִדְבַּר צִן.
טווַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֶל יהוה לֵאמֹר, טזיִפְקֹד יהוה אֱלֹהֵי הָרוּחֹת לְכָל בָּשָׂר אִישׁ עַל הָעֵדָה. יזאֲשֶׁר יֵצֵא לִפְנֵיהֶם וַאֲשֶׁר יָבֹא לִפְנֵיהֶם וַאֲשֶׁר יוֹצִיאֵם וַאֲשֶׁר יְבִיאֵם וְלֹא תִהְיֶה עֲדַת יהוה כַּצֹּאן אֲשֶׁר אֵין לָהֶם רֹעֶה. יחוַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה קַח לְךָ אֶת יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן נוּן אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר רוּחַ בּוֹ וְסָמַכְתָּ אֶת יָדְךָ עָלָיו. יטוְהַעֲמַדְתָּ אֹתוֹ לִפְנֵי אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וְלִפְנֵי כָּל הָעֵדָה וְצִוִּיתָה אֹתוֹ לְעֵינֵיהֶם. כוְנָתַתָּה מֵהוֹדְךָ עָלָיו לְמַעַן יִשְׁמְעוּ כָּל עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. כאוְלִפְנֵי אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן יַעֲמֹד וְשָׁאַל לוֹ בְּמִשְׁפַּט הָאוּרִים לִפְנֵי יהוה , עַל פִּיו יֵצְאוּ וְעַל פִּיו יָבֹאוּ, הוּא וְכָל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִתּוֹ וְכָל הָעֵדָה. כבוַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יהוה אֹתוֹ וַיִּקַּח אֶת יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיַּעֲמִדֵהוּ לִפְנֵי אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וְלִפְנֵי כָּל הָעֵדָה. כגוַיִּסְמֹךְ אֶת יָדָיו עָלָיו וַיְצַוֵּהוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יהוה בְּיַד מֹשֶׁה.
