1Now these are the generations of Aharon and Moshe in the day that יהוה spoke with Moshe in Har Sinai. 2And these are the names of the sons of Aharon: Nadav the firstborn, and Avihu, Elazar, and Itamar. 3These are the names of the sons of Aharon, the Kohanim that were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the kohen’s office. 4And Nadav and Avihu died before יהוה , when they offered strange fire before יהוה , in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children; and Elazar and Itamar ministered in the kohen’s office in the presence of Aharon their father.
5And יהוה spoke unto Moshe, saying, 6“Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aharon the kohen, that they may minister unto him. 7And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole assembly before the Ohel Mo’ed, to do the service of the Mishkan. 8And they shall keep all the furnishings of the Ohel Mo’ed, and the charge of B’nei Yisra’el, to do the service of the Mishkan. 9And you shall give the Levi’im unto Aharon and to his sons; they are wholly given unto him from B’nei Yisra’el. 10And you shall appoint Aharon and his sons, that they may guard their ministry; and the common man that draws nigh shall be put to death.”
11And יהוה spoke unto Moshe, saying, 12“And I, behold, I have taken the Levi’im from among B’nei Yisra’el instead of every firstborn that opens the womb among B’nei Yisra’el; and the Levi’im shall be Mine; 13for all the firstborn are Mine: on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim I hallowed unto Me all the firstborn in Yisra’el, both man and beast, Mine they shall be: I am יהוה .”
14And יהוה spoke unto Moshe in the wilderness of Sinai, saying, 15“Number the children of Levi by their fathers’ houses, by their families; every male from a khodesh old and upward shall you number them.” 16And Moshe numbered them according to the direction of יהוה , as he was commanded. 17And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, and Kehat, and Merari. 18And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Livni and Shimi. 19And the sons of Kehat by their families: Amram and Yitz’har, Khevron and Uzi’el. 20And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levi’im according to their fathers’ houses.”
21Of Gershon was the family of the Livni, and the family of the Shimi; these are the families of the Gershuni. 22Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a khodesh old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred. 23The families of the Gershuni were to pitch behind the Mishkan westward; 24the prince of the fathers’ house of the Gershuni being Eli’asaf Ben La’el, 25and the charge of the sons of Gershon in the Ohel Mo’ed, the Mishkan, and the Ohel, the covering thereof, and the screen for the door of the Ohel Mo’ed, 26and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the door of the court, which is by the Mishkan, and by the Mizbe’akh, round about, and the cords of it, even whatever pertains to the service thereof.
27And of Kehat was the family of the Amrami, and the family of the Izhari, and the family of the Hebroni, and the family of the Uzi’eli; these are the families of the Kehati: 28according to the number of all the males, from a khodesh old and upward, eight thousand and six hundred, keepers of the charge of HaKodesh. 29The families of the sons of Kehat were to pitch on the side of the Mishkan southward; 30the prince of the fathers’ house of the families of the Kehati being Elizafan Ben Uzi’el, 31and their charge the Aron, and the Shulkhan, and the Menorah, and the Mizbekhot, and the vessels of HaKodesh wherewith the Kohanim minister, and the screen, and all that pertains to the service thereof; 32Elazar Ben Aharon the kohen being prince of the princes of the Levi’im, and having the oversight of them that keep the charge of HaKodesh.
33Of Merari was the family of the Makhli, and the family of the Mushi; these are the families of Merari. 34And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a khodesh old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred; 35the prince of the fathers’ house of the families of Merari being Zuri’el Ben Avikha’il; they were to pitch on the side of the Mishkan northward; 36the appointed charge of the sons of Merari being the boards of the Mishkan, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the instruments thereof, and all that pertains to the service thereof; 37and the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.
38And those that were to pitch before the Mishkan eastward, before the Ohel Mo’ed toward the sunrising, were Moshe, and Aharon and his sons, keeping the charge of HaMikdash, even the charge for B’nei Yisra’el; and the common man that drew nigh was to be put to death.
39All that were numbered of the Levi’im, whom Moshe and Aharon numbered at the direction of יהוה , by their families, all the males from a khodesh old and upward, were twenty-two thousand.
40And יהוה said unto Moshe, “Number all the firstborn males of B’nei Yisra’el from a khodesh old and upward, and take the number of their names. 41And you shall take the Levi’im for Me, even יהוה , instead of all the firstborn among B’nei Yisra’el; and the cattle of the Levi’im instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of B’nei Yisra’el.” 42And Moshe numbered, as יהוה commanded him, all the firstborn among B’nei Yisra’el. 43And all the firstborn males according to the number of names, from a khodesh old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44And יהוה spoke unto Moshe, saying, 45“Take the Levi’im instead of all the firstborn among B’nei Yisra’el, and the cattle of the Levi’im instead of their cattle; and the Levi’im shall be Mine, even unto יהוה . And46 as for the redemption of the two hundred and seventy-three of the firstborn of B’nei Yisra’el, that are over and above the number of the Levi’im, 47you shall take five shekels each by the poll; after the shekel HaKodesh shall you take them, the shekel is twenty gerahs. 48And you shall give the money wherewith they that remain over of them are redeemed unto Aharon and to his sons.” 49And Moshe took the redemption-money from them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levi’im; 50from the firstborn of B’nei Yisra’el he took the money: a thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels, after the shekel HaKodesh. 51And Moshe gave the redemption-money unto Aharon and to his sons, according to the word of יהוה , as יהוה commanded Moshe.
אוְאֵלֶּה תּוֹלְדֹת אַהֲרֹן וּמֹשֶׁה בְּיוֹם דִּבֶּר יהוה אֶת מֹשֶׁה בְּהַר סִינָי. בוְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן הַבְּכֹר נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא אֶלְעָזָר וְאִיתָמָר. גאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֲנִים הַמְּשֻׁחִים אֲשֶׁר מִלֵּא יָדָם לְכַהֵן. דוַיָּמָת נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא לִפְנֵי יהוה בְּהַקְרִבָם אֵשׁ זָרָה לִפְנֵי יהוה בְּמִדְבַּר סִינַי וּבָנִים לֹא הָיוּ לָהֶם וַיְכַהֵן אֶלְעָזָר וְאִיתָמָר עַל פְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן אֲבִיהֶם.
הוַיְדַבֵּר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר. והַקְרֵב אֶת מַטֵּה לֵוִי וְהַעֲמַדְתָּ אֹתוֹ לִפְנֵי אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן וְשֵׁרְתוּ אֹתוֹ. זוְשָׁמְרוּ אֶת מִשְׁמַרְתּוֹ וְאֶת מִשְׁמֶרֶת כָּל הָעֵדָה לִפְנֵי אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד לַעֲבֹד אֶת עֲבֹדַת הַמִּשְׁכָּן. חוְשָׁמְרוּ אֶת כָּל כְּלֵי אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְאֶת מִשְׁמֶרֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַעֲבֹד אֶת עֲבֹדַת הַמִּשְׁכָּן. טוְנָתַתָּה אֶת הַלְוִיִּם לְאַהֲרֹן וּלְבָנָיו נְתוּנִם נְתוּנִם הֵמָּה לוֹ מֵאֵת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. יוְאֶת אַהֲרֹן וְאֶת בָּנָיו תִּפְקֹד וְשָׁמְרוּ אֶת כְּהֻנָּתָם וְהַזָּר הַקָּרֵב יוּמָת.
יאוַיְדַבֵּר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר. יבוַאֲנִי הִנֵּה לָקַחְתִּי אֶת הַלְוִיִּם מִתּוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל תַּחַת כָּל בְּכוֹר פֶּטֶר רֶחֶם מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהָיוּ לִי הַלְוִיִּם. יגכִּי לִי כָּל בְּכוֹר בְּיוֹם הַכֹּתִי כָל בְּכוֹר בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם הִקְדַּשְׁתִּי לִי כָל בְּכוֹר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאָדָם עַד בְּהֵמָה לִי יִהְיוּ אֲנִי יהוה .
ידוַיְדַבֵּר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה בְּמִדְבַּר סִינַי לֵאמֹר, טופְּקֹד אֶת בְּנֵי לֵוִי לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם כָּל זָכָר מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמַעְלָה תִּפְקְדֵם. טזוַיִּפְקֹד אֹתָם מֹשֶׁה עַל פִּי יהוה כַּאֲשֶׁר צֻוָּה. יזוַיִּהְיוּ אֵלֶּה בְנֵי לֵוִי בִּשְׁמֹתָם גֵּרְשׁוֹן וּקְהָת וּמְרָרִי. יחוְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹן לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִבְנִי וְשִׁמְעִי. יטוּבְנֵי קְהָת לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם עַמְרָם וְיִצְהָר חֶבְרוֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵל. כוּבְנֵי מְרָרִי לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם מַחְלִי וּמוּשִׁי אֵלֶּה הֵם מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַלֵּוִי לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם.
כאלְגֵרְשׁוֹן מִשְׁפַּחַת הַלִּבְנִי וּמִשְׁפַּחַת הַשִּׁמְעִי אֵלֶּה הֵם מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי. כבפְּקֻדֵיהֶם בְּמִסְפַּר כָּל זָכָר מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמָעְלָה פְּקֻדֵיהֶם שִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת. כגמִשְׁפְּחֹת הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי אַחֲרֵי הַמִּשְׁכָּן יַחֲנוּ יָמָּה. כדוּנְשִׂיא בֵית אָב לַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן לָאֵל. כהוּמִשְׁמֶרֶת בְּנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹן בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְהָאֹהֶל מִכְסֵהוּ וּמָסַךְ פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד. כווְקַלְעֵי הֶחָצֵר וְאֶת מָסַךְ פֶּתַח הֶחָצֵר אֲשֶׁר עַל הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְעַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ סָבִיב וְאֵת מֵיתָרָיו לְכֹל עֲבֹדָתוֹ.
כזוְלִקְהָת מִשְׁפַּחַת הַעַמְרָמִי וּמִשְׁפַּחַת הַיִּצְהָרִי וּמִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶבְרֹנִי וּמִשְׁפַּחַת הָעָזִּיאֵלִי אֵלֶּה הֵם מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי. כחבְּמִסְפַּר כָּל זָכָר מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמָעְלָה שְׁמֹנַת אֲלָפִים וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת שֹׁמְרֵי מִשְׁמֶרֶת הַקֹּדֶשׁ. כטמִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי קְהָת יַחֲנוּ עַל יֶרֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּן תֵּימָנָה. לוּנְשִׂיא בֵית אָב לְמִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי אֱלִיצָפָן בֶּן עֻזִּיאֵל. לאוּמִשְׁמַרְתָּם הָאָרֹן וְהַשֻּׁלְחָן וְהַמְּנֹרָה וְהַמִּזְבְּחֹת וּכְלֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר יְשָׁרְתוּ בָּהֶם וְהַמָּסָךְ וְכֹל עֲבֹדָתוֹ. לבוּנְשִׂיא נְשִׂיאֵי הַלֵּוִי אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן פְּקֻדַּת שֹׁמְרֵי מִשְׁמֶרֶת הַקֹּדֶשׁ.
לגלִמְרָרִי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַמַּחְלִי וּמִשְׁפַּחַת הַמּוּשִׁי אֵלֶּה הֵם מִשְׁפְּחֹת מְרָרִי. לדוּפְקֻדֵיהֶם בְּמִסְפַּר כָּל זָכָר מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמָעְלָה שֵׁשֶׁת אֲלָפִים וּמָאתָיִם. להוּנְשִׂיא בֵית אָב לְמִשְׁפְּחֹת מְרָרִי צוּרִיאֵל בֶּן אֲבִיחָיִל עַל יֶרֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּן יַחֲנוּ צָפֹנָה. לווּפְקֻדַּת מִשְׁמֶרֶת בְּנֵי מְרָרִי קַרְשֵׁי הַמִּשְׁכָּן וּבְרִיחָיו וְעַמֻּדָיו וַאֲדָנָיו וְכָל כֵּלָיו וְכֹל עֲבֹדָתוֹ. לזוְעַמֻּדֵי הֶחָצֵר סָבִיב וְאַדְנֵיהֶם וִיתֵדֹתָם וּמֵיתְרֵיהֶם.
לחוְהַחֹנִים לִפְנֵי הַמִּשְׁכָּן קֵדְמָה לִפְנֵי אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד מִזְרָחָה מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו שֹׁמְרִים מִשְׁמֶרֶת הַמִּקְדָּשׁ לְמִשְׁמֶרֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהַזָּר הַקָּרֵב יוּמָת.
לטכָּל פְּקוּדֵי הַלְוִיִּם אֲשֶׁר פָּקַד מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן עַל פִּי יהוה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם כָּל זָכָר מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמַעְלָה שְׁנַיִם וְעֶשְׂרִים אָלֶף.
מוַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה פְּקֹד כָּל בְּכֹר זָכָר לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמָעְלָה וְשָׂא אֵת מִסְפַּר שְׁמֹתָם. מאוְלָקַחְתָּ אֶת הַלְוִיִּם לִי אֲנִי יהוה תַּחַת כָּל בְּכֹר בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֵת בֶּהֱמַת הַלְוִיִּם תַּחַת כָּל בְּכוֹר בְּבֶהֱמַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. מבוַיִּפְקֹד מֹשֶׁה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יהוה אֹתוֹ אֶת כָּל בְּכוֹר בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. מגוַיְהִי כָל בְּכוֹר זָכָר בְּמִסְפַּר שֵׁמֹת מִבֶּן חֹדֶשׁ וָמַעְלָה לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם שְׁנַיִם וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף שְׁלֹשָׁה וְשִׁבְעִים וּמָאתָיִם.
מדוַיְדַבֵּר יהוה אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר. מהקַח אֶת הַלְוִיִּם תַּחַת כָּל בְּכוֹר בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶת בֶּהֱמַת הַלְוִיִּם תַּחַת בְּהֶמְתָּם וְהָיוּ לִי הַלְוִיִּם אֲנִי יהוה . מווְאֵת פְּדוּיֵי הַשְּׁלֹשָׁה וְהַשִּׁבְעִים וְהַמָּאתָיִם הָעֹדְפִים עַל הַלְוִיִּם מִבְּכוֹר בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. מזוְלָקַחְתָּ חֲמֵשֶׁת חֲמֵשֶׁת שְׁקָלִים לַגֻּלְגֹּלֶת בְּשֶׁקֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁ תִּקָּח עֶשְׂרִים גֵּרָה הַשָּׁקֶל. מחוְנָתַתָּה הַכֶּסֶף לְאַהֲרֹן וּלְבָנָיו פְּדוּיֵי הָעֹדְפִים בָּהֶם. מטוַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֵת כֶּסֶף הַפִּדְיוֹם מֵאֵת הָעֹדְפִים עַל פְּדוּיֵי הַלְוִיִּם. נמֵאֵת בְּכוֹר בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָקַח אֶת הַכָּסֶף חֲמִשָּׁה וְשִׁשִּׁים וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת וָאֶלֶף בְּשֶׁקֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁ. נאוַיִּתֵּן מֹשֶׁה אֶת כֶּסֶף הַפְּדֻיִם לְאַהֲרֹן וּלְבָנָיו עַל פִּי יהוה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יהוה אֶת מֹשֶׁה.
