1“Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Edrei. 2And יהוה said unto me, ‘Fear him not; for I have delivered him, and all his people, and his land, into your hand; and you shall do unto him as you did unto Sikhon king of the Amori, who dwelt at Kheshbon.’ 3So יהוה our Elohim delivered into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people; and we smote him until none was left to him remaining. 4And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we took not from them; sixty cities, all the region of Argov, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 5All these were fortified cities, with high walls, gates, and bars; beside the unwalled towns a great many. 6And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sikhon king of Kheshbon, utterly destroying every city, the men, and the women, and the little ones. 7But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey unto ourselves. 8And we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amori that were beyond the Yarden, from the valley of Arnon unto Har Khermon, 9which Khermon the Tzidonim call Sirion, and the Amori call it Senir, 10all the cities of the plain, and all Gilad, and all Bashan, unto Salkah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan., 11For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Refayim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabah of the children of Amon? Nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man. 12And this land we took in possession at that time; from Aro’er, which is by the valley of Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilad, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Ruveni and to the Gadi; 13and the rest of Gilad, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, gave I unto half of the tribe of Menasheh; all the region of Argov, all that Bashan is called the land of Refayim. 14Ya’ir Ben Menasheh took all the region of Argov, unto the border of the Geshuri and the Ma’akhati, and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havot-Ya’ir, unto this day. 15And I gave Gilad unto Makhir. 16And unto the Ruveni and unto the Gadi I gave from Gilad even unto the valley of Arnon, the middle of the valley for a border; even unto the river Yabok, which is the border of the children of Amon; 17the Aravah also, the Yarden being the border thereof, from Kineret even unto the sea of the Aravah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward. 18And I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘ יהוה your Elohim has given you this land to possess it; you shall pass over armed before your brethren B’nei Yisra’el, all the men of valor. 19But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, I know that you have much cattle, shall abide in your cities which I have given you; 20until יהוה gives rest unto your brethren, as unto you, and they also possess the land which יהוה your Elohim gives them beyond the Yarden; then shall you return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.’ 21And I commanded Yehoshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that יהוה your Elohim has done unto these two kings; so shall יהוה do unto all the kingdoms wherever you go over. 22You shall not fear them; for יהוה your Elohim, He it is that fights for you’.”
Parashat Va’Etkhanan
23“And I sought favor from יהוה at that time, saying, 24‘O Adonai יהוה , you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth, that can do according to your works, and according to your mighty acts? 25Let me go over, I pray, and see the good land that is beyond the Yarden, that goodly hill country, and Levanon.’ 26But יהוה was wroth with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me; and יהוה said unto me, ‘Let it suffice you; speak no more unto Me of this matter. 27Get yourself up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold with your eyes; for you shall not go over this Yarden. 28But charge Yehoshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see.’ 29So we abode in the valley over against Beit Pe’or.”
אוַנֵּפֶן וַנַּעַל דֶּרֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן וַיֵּצֵא עוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן לִקְרָאתֵנוּ הוּא וְכָל עַמּוֹ לַמִּלְחָמָה אֶדְרֶעִי. בוַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֵלַי אַל תִּירָא אֹתוֹ כִּי בְיָדְךָ נָתַתִּי אֹתוֹ וְאֶת כָּל עַמּוֹ וְאֶת אַרְצוֹ וְעָשִׂיתָ לּוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתָ לְסִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר יוֹשֵׁב בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן. גוַיִּתֵּן יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ בְּיָדֵנוּ גַּם אֶת עוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן וְאֶת כָּל עַמּוֹ וַנַּכֵּהוּ עַד בִּלְתִּי הִשְׁאִיר לוֹ שָׂרִיד. דוַנִּלְכֹּד אֶת כָּל עָרָיו בָּעֵת הַהִוא לֹא הָיְתָה קִרְיָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא לָקַחְנוּ מֵאִתָּם שִׁשִּׁים עִיר כָּל חֶבֶל אַרְגֹּב מַמְלֶכֶת עוֹג בַּבָּשָׁן. הכָּל אֵלֶּה עָרִים בְּצֻרֹת חוֹמָה גְבֹהָה דְּלָתַיִם וּבְרִיחַ לְבַד מֵעָרֵי הַפְּרָזִי הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד. ווַנַּחֲרֵם אוֹתָם כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂינוּ לְסִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ חֶשְׁבּוֹן הַחֲרֵם כָּל עִיר מְתִם הַנָּשִׁים וְהַטָּף. זוְכָל הַבְּהֵמָה וּשְׁלַל הֶעָרִים בַּזּוֹנוּ לָנוּ. חוַנִּקַּח בָּעֵת הַהִוא אֶת הָאָרֶץ מִיַּד שְׁנֵי מַלְכֵי הָאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן מִנַּחַל אַרְנֹן עַד הַר חֶרְמוֹן. טצִידֹנִים יִקְרְאוּ לְחֶרְמוֹן שִׂרְיֹן וְהָאֱמֹרִי יִקְרְאוּ לוֹ שְׂנִיר. יכֹּל עָרֵי הַמִּישֹׁר וְכָל הַגִּלְעָד וְכָל הַבָּשָׁן עַד סַלְכָה וְאֶדְרֶעִי עָרֵי מַמְלֶכֶת עוֹג בַּבָּשָׁן. יאכִּי רַק עוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן נִשְׁאַר מִיֶּתֶר הָרְפָאִים הִנֵּה עַרְשׂוֹ עֶרֶשׂ בַּרְזֶל הֲלֹה הִוא בְּרַבַּת בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן תֵּשַׁע אַמּוֹת אָרְכָּהּ וְאַרְבַּע אַמּוֹת רָחְבָּהּ בְּאַמַּת אִישׁ. יבוְאֶת הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת יָרַשְׁנוּ בָּעֵת הַהִוא מֵעֲרֹעֵר אֲשֶׁר עַל נַחַל אַרְנֹן וַחֲצִי הַר הַגִּלְעָד וְעָרָיו נָתַתִּי לָראוּבֵנִי וְלַגָּדִי. יגוְיֶתֶר הַגִּלְעָד וְכָל הַבָּשָׁן מַמְלֶכֶת עוֹג נָתַתִּי לַחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַמְנַשֶּׁה כֹּל חֶבֶל הָאַרְגֹּב לְכָל הַבָּשָׁן הַהוּא יִקָּרֵא אֶרֶץ רְפָאִים. ידיָאִיר בֶּן מְנַשֶּׁה לָקַח אֶת כָּל חֶבֶל אַרְגֹּב עַד גְּבוּל הַגְּשׁוּרִי וְהַמַּעֲכָתִי וַיִּקְרָא אֹתָם עַל שְׁמוֹ אֶת הַבָּשָׁן חַוֹּת יָאִיר עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה. טווּלְמָכִיר נָתַתִּי אֶת הַגִּלְעָד. טזוְלָראוּבֵנִי וְלַגָּדִי נָתַתִּי מִן הַגִּלְעָד וְעַד נַחַל אַרְנֹן תּוֹךְ הַנַּחַל וּגְבֻל וְעַד יַבֹּק הַנַּחַל גְּבוּל בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן. יזוְהָעֲרָבָה וְהַיַּרְדֵּן וּגְבֻל מִכִּנֶּרֶת וְעַד יָם הָעֲרָבָה יָם הַמֶּלַח תַּחַת אַשְׁדֹּת הַפִּסְגָּה מִזְרָחָה. יחוָאֲצַו אֶתְכֶם בָּעֵת הַהִוא לֵאמֹר יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם נָתַן לָכֶם אֶת הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת לְרִשְׁתָּהּ חֲלוּצִים תַּעַבְרוּ לִפְנֵי אֲחֵיכֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כָּל בְּנֵי חָיִל. יטרַק נְשֵׁיכֶם וְטַפְּכֶם וּמִקְנֵכֶם יָדַעְתִּי כִּי מִקְנֶה רַב לָכֶם יֵשְׁבוּ בְּעָרֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לָכֶם. כעַד אֲשֶׁר יָנִיחַ יהוה לַאֲחֵיכֶם כָּכֶם וְיָרְשׁוּ גַם הֵם אֶת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם נֹתֵן לָהֶם בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן וְשַׁבְתֶּם אִישׁ לִירֻשָּׁתוֹ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לָכֶם. כאוְאֶת יְהוֹשׁוּעַ צִוֵּיתִי בָּעֵת הַהִוא לֵאמֹר עֵינֶיךָ הָרֹאֹת אֵת כָּל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם לִשְׁנֵי הַמְּלָכִים הָאֵלֶּה כֵּן יַעֲשֶׂה יהוה לְכָל הַמַּמְלָכוֹת אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹבֵר שָׁמָּה.כבלֹא תִּירָאוּם כִּי יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם הוּא הַנִּלְחָם לָכֶם.
פרשת וָאֶתְחַנַּן
כגוָאֶתְחַנַּן אֶל יהוה בָּעֵת הַהִוא לֵאמֹר, כדאֲדֹנָי יהוה אַתָּה הַחִלּוֹתָ לְהַרְאוֹת אֶת עַבְדְּךָ אֶת גָּדְלְךָ וְאֶת יָדְךָ הַחֲזָקָה אֲשֶׁר מִי אֵל בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה כְמַעֲשֶׂיךָ וְכִגְבוּרֹתֶךָ. כהאֶעְבְּרָה נָּא וְאֶרְאֶה אֶת הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן הָהָר הַטּוֹב הַזֶּה וְהַלְּבָנֹן. כווַיִּתְעַבֵּר יהוה בִּי לְמַעַנְכֶם וְלֹא שָׁמַע אֵלָי וַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֵלַי רַב לָךְ אַל תּוֹסֶף דַּבֵּר אֵלַי עוֹד בַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה. כזעֲלֵה רֹאשׁ הַפִּסְגָּה וְשָׂא עֵינֶיךָ יָמָּה וְצָפֹנָה וְתֵימָנָה וּמִזְרָחָה וּרְאֵה בְעֵינֶיךָ כִּי לֹא תַעֲבֹר אֶת הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה. כחוְצַו אֶת יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְחַזְּקֵהוּ וְאַמְּצֵהוּ כִּי הוּא יַעֲבֹר לִפְנֵי הָעָם הַזֶּה וְהוּא יַנְחִיל אוֹתָם אֶת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תִּרְאֶה. כטוַנֵּשֶׁב בַּגָּיְא מוּל בֵּית פְּעוֹר.
