B’reshit 36 – ברשית לו

¹Now these are the generations of Esav, the same is Edom. ²Esav took his wives of the daughters of Kena’an; Adah the daughter of Eilon the Khiti, and Oholivamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Tzivon the Khivi, ³and Bas’mat Yishma’el’s daughter, sister of Nevayot. ⁴And Adah bore to Esav Elifaz; and Bas’mat bore Re’u’El; ⁵and Oholivamah bore Y’ush, and Yalam, and Korakh. These are the sons of Esav, that were born unto him in the land of Kena’an. ⁶And Esav took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the souls of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Kena’an; and went into a land away from his brother Ya’akov. ⁷For their substance was too great for them to dwell together; and the land of their sojournings could not bear them because of their cattle. ⁸And Esav dwelt in the mountain-land of Se’ir, Esav is Edom. ⁹And these are the generations of Esav, the father of Edom, in the mountain-land of Se’ir. ¹⁰These are the names of Esav’s sons: Elifaz Ben Adah the wife of Esav, Re’u’El Ben Bas’mat the wife of Esav. ¹¹And the sons of Elifaz were Teman, Omar, Zefo, and Gatam, and Kenaz. ¹²And Timna was concubine to Elifaz Esav’s son; and she bore to Elifaz Amalek. These are the sons of Adah Esav’s wife. ¹³And these are the sons of Re’u’El: Nahat, and Zerakh,  Shamah, and Mizah. These were the sons of Bas’mat Esav’s wife. ¹⁴And these were the sons of Oholivamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Tzivun, Esav’s wife; and she bore to Esav Y’ush, and Yalam, and Korakh. ¹⁵These are the chiefs of the sons of Esav: the sons of Elifaz the firstborn of Esav: the chief of Teman, the chief of Omar, the chief of Zefo, the chief of Kenaz,

¹⁶the chief of Korakh, the chief of Gatam, the chief of Amalek. These are the chiefs that came of Elifaz in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Adah. ¹⁷And these are the sons of Re’u’El Esav’s son: the chief of Nahat, the chief of Zerakh, the chief of  Shamah, the chief of Mizah. These are the chiefs that came of Re’u’El in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Bas’mat Esav’s wife. ¹⁸And these are the sons of Oholivamah Esav’s wife: the chief of Y’ush, the chief of Yalam, the chief of Korakh. These are the chiefs that came of Oholivamah the daughter of Anah, Esav’s wife. ¹⁹These are the sons of Esav, and these are their chiefs; the same is Edom. ²⁰These are the sons of Se’ir the Khori, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan and Shoval and Zibeon and Anah, ²¹and Dishon and Ezer and Dishan. These are the chiefs that came of the Khori, the children of Se’ir in the land of Edom. ²²And the children of Lotan were Khori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna. ²³And these are the children of Shoval: Alvan and Manahat and Eval, Shefo and Onam. ²⁴And these are the children of Tzivon: Ayah and Anah, this is Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the donkeys of Tzivon his father. ²⁵And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholivamah the daughter of Anah. ²⁶And these are the children of Dishon: Hemdan and Eshban and Yitran and Kheran. ²⁷These are the children of Ezer: Bilhan and Za’avan and Akan. ²⁸These are the children of Dishan: Uz and Aran. ²⁹These are the chiefs that came of the Khori: the chief of Lotan, the chief of Shoval, the chief of Tzivon, the chief of Anah, ³⁰the chief of Dishon, the chief of Ezer, the chief of Dishan. These are the chiefs that came of the Khori, according to their chiefs in the land of Se’ir.

³¹And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any melekh [king] over B’nei Yisra’el. ³²And Bela Ben Be’or reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinhavah. ³³And Bela died, and Yovav Ben Zerakh of Bozrah reigned in his stead. ³⁴And Yovav died, and Khusham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead. ³⁵And Khusham died, and Hadad Ben Bedad, who smote Midyan in the field of Mo’av, reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Avit. ³⁶And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. ³⁷And Samlah died, and Sha’ul of Rehovot by the River reigned in his stead. ³⁸And Sha’ul died, and Ba’al Khanan Ben Akhbor reigned in his stead. ³⁹And Ba’al Khanan Ben Akhbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead; and the name of the city was Pa’u; and his wife’s name was Mehetavel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab. ⁴⁰And these are the names of the chiefs that came of Esav, according to their families, after their places, by their names: the chief of Timna, the chief of Alvah, the chief of Y’tet; ⁴¹the chief of Oholivamah, the chief of Elah, the chief of Pinon; ⁴²the chief of Kenaz, the chief of Teman, the chief of Mibzar; ⁴³the chief of Magdiel, the chief of Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esav the father of the Edomites. 

^אוְאֵלֶּה תֹּלְדוֹת עֵשָׂו הוּא אֱדוֹם. ^בעֵשָׂו לָקַח אֶת נָשָׁיו מִבְּנוֹת כְּנָעַן: אֶת עָדָה בַּת אֵילוֹן הַחִתִּי וְאֶת אָהֳלִיבָמָה בַּת עֲנָה בַּת צִבְעוֹן הַחִוִּי. ^גוְאֶת בָּשְׂמַת בַּת יִשְׁמָעֵאל אֲחוֹת נְבָיוֹת. ^דוַתֵּלֶד עָדָה לְעֵשָׂו אֶת אֱלִיפָז; וּבָשְׂמַת יָלְדָה אֶת רְעוּאֵל. ^הוְאָהֳלִיבָמָה יָלְדָה אֶת יעיש (יְעוּשׁ) וְאֶת יַעְלָם וְאֶת קֹרַח; אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי עֵשָׂו אֲשֶׁר יֻלְּדוּ לוֹ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן. ^ווַיִּקַּח עֵשָׂו אֶת נָשָׁיו וְאֶת בָּנָיו וְאֶת בְּנֹתָיו וְאֶת כָּל נַפְשׁוֹת בֵּיתוֹ וְאֶת מִקְנֵהוּ וְאֶת כָּל בְּהֶמְתּוֹ וְאֵת כָּל קִנְיָנוֹ אֲשֶׁר רָכַשׁ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן; וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל אֶרֶץ מִפְּנֵי יַעֲקֹב אָחִיו. ^זכִּי הָיָה רְכוּשָׁם רָב מִשֶּׁבֶת יַחְדָּו; וְלֹא יָכְלָה אֶרֶץ מְגוּרֵיהֶם לָשֵׂאת  אֹתָם מִפְּנֵימִקְנֵיהֶם. ^חוַיֵּשֶׁב עֵשָׂו בְּהַר שֵׂעִיר עֵשָׂו הוּא אֱדוֹם. ^טוְאֵלֶּה תֹּלְדוֹת עֵשָׂו אֲבִי אֱדוֹם בְּהַר שֵׂעִיר. ^יאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי עֵשָׂו: אֱלִיפַז בֶּן עָדָה אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו רְעוּאֵל בֶּן בָּשְׂמַת אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו. ^יאוַיִּהְיוּ בְּנֵי אֱלִיפָז תֵּימָן אוֹמָר צְפוֹ וְגַעְתָּם וּקְנַז. ^יבוְתִמְנַע הָיְתָה פִילֶגֶשׁ לֶאֱלִיפַז בֶּן עֵשָׂו וַתֵּלֶד לֶאֱלִיפַז אֶת עֲמָלֵק; אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי עָדָה אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו. ^יגוְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי רְעוּאֵל נַחַת וָזֶרַח שַׁמָּה וּמִזָּה; אֵלֶּה הָיוּ בְּנֵי בָשְׂמַת אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו. ^ידוְאֵלֶּה הָיוּ בְּנֵי אָהֳלִיבָמָה בַת עֲנָה בַּת צִבְעוֹן אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו; וַתֵּלֶד לְעֵשָׂו אֶת יעיש (יְעוּשׁ) וְאֶת יַעְלָם וְאֶת קֹרַח. ^טואֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי בְנֵי עֵשָׂו: בְּנֵי אֱלִיפַז בְּכוֹר עֵשָׂו אַלּוּף תֵּימָן אַלּוּף אוֹמָר אַלּוּף צְפוֹ אַלּוּף קְנַז. 

^טזאַלּוּף קֹרַח אַלּוּף גַּעְתָּם אַלּוּף עֲמָלֵק; אֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי אֱלִיפַז בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדוֹם אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי עָדָה. ^יזוְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי רְעוּאֵל בֶּן עֵשָׂו אַלּוּף נַחַת אַלּוּף זֶרַח אַלּוּף שַׁמָּה אַלּוּף מִזָּה; אֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי רְעוּאֵל בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדוֹם אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי בָשְׂמַת אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו. ^יחוְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי אָהֳלִיבָמָה אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו אַלּוּף יְעוּשׁ אַלּוּף יַעְלָם אַלּוּף קֹרַח; אֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי אָהֳלִיבָמָה בַּת עֲנָה אֵשֶׁת עֵשָׂו. ^יטאֵלֶּה בְנֵי עֵשָׂו וְאֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵיהֶם הוּא אֱדוֹם. ^כאֵלֶּה בְנֵי שֵׂעִיר הַחֹרִי יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ: לוֹטָן וְשׁוֹבָל וְצִבְעוֹן וַעֲנָה. ^כאוְדִשׁוֹן וְאֵצֶר וְדִישָׁן; אֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי הַחֹרִי בְּנֵי שֵׂעִיר בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדוֹם. ^כבוַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי לוֹטָן חֹרִי וְהֵימָם; וַאֲחוֹת לוֹטָן תִּמְנָע. ^כגוְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי שׁוֹבָל עַלְוָן וּמָנַחַת וְעֵיבָל שְׁפוֹ וְאוֹנָם. ^כדוְאֵלֶּה בְנֵי צִבְעוֹן וְאַיָּה וַעֲנָה; הוּא עֲנָה אֲשֶׁר מָצָא אֶת הַיֵּמִם בַּמִּדְבָּר בִּרְעֹתוֹ אֶת הַחֲמֹרִים לְצִבְעוֹן אָבִיו. ^כהוְאֵלֶּה בְנֵי עֲנָה דִּשֹׁן; וְאָהֳלִיבָמָה בַּת עֲנָה. ^כווְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי דִישָׁן חֶמְדָּן וְאֶשְׁבָּן וְיִתְרָן וּכְרָן. ^כזאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי אֵצֶר בִּלְהָן וְזַעֲוָן וַעֲקָן. ^כחאֵלֶּה בְנֵי דִישָׁן עוּץ וַאֲרָן. ^כטאֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי הַחֹרִי: אַלּוּף לוֹטָן אַלּוּף שׁוֹבָל אַלּוּף צִבְעוֹן אַלּוּף עֲנָה. ^לאַלּוּף דִּשֹׁן אַלּוּף אֵצֶר אַלּוּף דִּישָׁן; אֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי הַחֹרִי לְאַלֻּפֵיהֶם בְּאֶרֶץ שֵׂעִיר. 

^לאוְאֵלֶּה הַמְּלָכִים אֲשֶׁר מָלְכוּ בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדוֹם לִפְנֵי מְלָךְ מֶלֶךְ לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. ^לבוַיִּמְלֹךְ בֶּאֱדוֹם בֶּלַע בֶּן בְּעוֹר; וְשֵׁם עִירוֹ דִּנְהָבָה. ^לגוַיָּמָת בָּלַע; וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו יוֹבָב בֶּן זֶרַח מִבָּצְרָה. ^לדוַיָּמָת יוֹבָב; וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו חֻשָׁם מֵאֶרֶץ הַתֵּימָנִי. ^להוַיָּמָת חֻשָׁם; וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו הֲדַד בֶּן בְּדַד הַמַּכֶּה אֶת מִדְיָן בִּשְׂדֵה מוֹאָב וְשֵׁם עִירוֹ עֲוִית. ^לווַיָּמָת הֲדָד; וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו שַׂמְלָה מִמַּשְׂרֵקָה. ^לזוַיָּמָת שַׂמְלָה; וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו שָׁאוּל מֵרְחֹבוֹת הַנָּהָר. ^לחוַיָּמָת שָׁאוּל; וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו בַּעַל חָנָן בֶּן עַכְבּוֹר. ^לטוַיָּמָת בַּעַל חָנָן בֶּן עַכְבּוֹר וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו הֲדַר וְשֵׁם עִירוֹ פָּעוּ; וְשֵׁם אִשְׁתּוֹ מְהֵיטַבְאֵל בַּת מַטְרֵד בַּת מֵי זָהָב. ^מוְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת אַלּוּפֵי עֵשָׂו לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִמְקֹמֹתָם בִּשְׁמֹתָם: אַלּוּף תִּמְנָע אַלּוּף עַלְוָה אַלּוּף יְתֵת. ^מאאַלּוּף אָהֳלִיבָמָה אַלּוּף אֵלָה אַלּוּף פִּינֹן. ^מבאַלּוּף קְנַז אַלּוּף תֵּימָן אַלּוּף מִבְצָר. ^מגאַלּוּף מַגְדִּיאֵל אַלּוּף עִירָם; אֵלֶּה אַלּוּפֵי אֱדוֹם לְמֹשְׁבֹתָם בְּאֶרֶץ אֲחֻזָּתָם הוּא עֵשָׂו אֲבִי אֱדוֹם.
