1“If a thief is found breaking in, and is smitten so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him. 2If the sun is risen upon him, there shall be bloodguiltiness for him, he shall make restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 3If the theft is found in his hand alive, whether it is an ox, or a donkey, or a sheep, he shall pay double. 4If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall let his beast loose, and it feeds in another man’s field, of the best of his own field and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make restitution. 5If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns, so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed, he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 6If a man delivers unto his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double. 7If the thief is not found, then the adon of the house shall come near unto Elohim, to see whether he has not put his hand unto his neighbor’s goods. 8For every matter of trespass, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any manner of lost thing, whereof one says, ‘This is it,’ the cause of both parties shall come before Elohim; he whom Elohim shall condemn shall pay double unto his neighbor. 9If a man delivers unto his neighbor a donkey, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep, and it dies or is hurt, or driven away with no man seeing it, 10the oath of יהוה shall be between them both, to see whether he has not put his hand unto his neighbor’s goods; and the owner thereof shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution. 11But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof. 12If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for a witness; he shall not make good that which was torn.”
13“And if a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is hurt, or dies, the owner thereof not being with it, he shall surely make restitution. 14If the owner thereof is with it, he shall not make it good; if it is a hireling, he loses his hire. 15And if a man entices a virgin that is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife. 16If her father utterly refuses to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. 17You shall not suffer a sorceress to live. 18Whoever lies with a beast shall surely be put to death. 19He that sacrifices unto the gods, save unto יהוה only, shall be utterly destroyed. 20And a stranger shall you not wrong, neither shall you oppress him; for you were strangers in the land of Mitzrayim. 21You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. 22If you afflict them in any wise, for if they cry at all unto Me, I will surely hear their cry, 23My wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.”
24“If you lend money to any of My people, even to the poor with you, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall you lay upon him interest. 25If you at all take your neighbor’s garment to pledge, you shall restore it unto him by the time the sun goes down; 26for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin; wherein shall he sleep? And it shall come to pass, when he cries unto Me, that I will hear; for I am gracious. 27You shall not revile Elohim, nor curse a ruler of your people. 28You shall not delay to offer of the fullness of your harvest, and of the outflow of your presses. The firstborn of your sons shall you give unto Me. 29Likewise shall you do with your oxen, and with your sheep; seven days it shall be with its dam; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me. 30And you shall be men who are kodesh unto Me; therefore you shall not eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; you shall cast it to the dogs.”
אאִם בַּמַּחְתֶּרֶת יִמָּצֵא הַגַּנָּב וְהֻכָּה וָמֵת אֵין לוֹ דָּמִים. באִם זָרְחָה הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ עָלָיו דָּמִים לוֹ שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם אִם אֵין לוֹ וְנִמְכַּר בִּגְנֵבָתוֹ. גאִם הִמָּצֵא תִמָּצֵא בְיָדוֹ הַגְּנֵבָה מִשּׁוֹר עַד חֲמוֹר עַד שֶׂה חַיִּים שְׁנַיִם יְשַׁלֵּם. דכִּי יַבְעֶר אִישׁ שָׂדֶה אוֹ כֶרֶם וְשִׁלַּח אֶת בְּעִירֹה וּבִעֵר בִּשְׂדֵה אַחֵר מֵיטַב שָׂדֵהוּ וּמֵיטַב כַּרְמוֹ יְשַׁלֵּם. הכִּי תֵצֵא אֵשׁ וּמָצְאָה קֹצִים וְנֶאֱכַל גָּדִישׁ אוֹ הַקָּמָה אוֹ הַשָּׂדֶה שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם הַמַּבְעִר אֶת הַבְּעֵרָה. וכִּי יִתֵּן אִישׁ אֶל רֵעֵהוּ כֶּסֶף אוֹ כֵלִים לִשְׁמֹר וְגֻנַּב מִבֵּית הָאִישׁ אִם יִמָּצֵא הַגַּנָּב יְשַׁלֵּם שְׁנָיִם. זאִם לֹא יִמָּצֵא הַגַּנָּב וְנִקְרַב בַּעַל הַבַּיִת אֶל הָאֱלֹהִים אִם לֹא שָׁלַח יָדוֹ בִּמְלֶאכֶת רֵעֵהוּ. חעַל כָּל דְּבַר פֶּשַׁע עַל שׁוֹר עַל חֲמוֹר עַל שֶׂה עַל שַׂלְמָה עַל כָּל אֲבֵדָה אֲשֶׁר יֹאמַר כִּי הוּא זֶה עַד הָאֱלֹהִים יָבֹא דְּבַר שְׁנֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר יַרְשִׁיעֻן אֱלֹהִים יְשַׁלֵּם שְׁנַיִםלְרֵעֵהוּ. טכִּי יִתֵּן אִישׁ אֶל רֵעֵהוּ חֲמוֹר אוֹ שׁוֹר אוֹ שֶׂה וְכָל בְּהֵמָה לִשְׁמֹר וּמֵת אוֹ נִשְׁבַּר אוֹ נִשְׁבָּה אֵין רֹאֶה. ישְׁבֻעַת יהוה תִּהְיֶה בֵּין שְׁנֵיהֶם אִם לֹא שָׁלַח יָדוֹ בִּמְלֶאכֶת רֵעֵהוּ וְלָקַח בְּעָלָיו וְלֹא יְשַׁלֵּם. יאוְאִם גָּנֹב יִגָּנֵב מֵעִמּוֹ יְשַׁלֵּם לִבְעָלָיו. יבאִם טָרֹף יִטָּרֵף יְבִאֵהוּ עֵד הַטְּרֵפָה לֹא יְשַׁלֵּם.
יגוְכִי יִשְׁאַל אִישׁ מֵעִם רֵעֵהוּ וְנִשְׁבַּר אוֹ מֵת בְּעָלָיו אֵין עִמּוֹ שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם. ידאִם בְּעָלָיו עִמּוֹ לֹא יְשַׁלֵּם אִם שָׂכִיר הוּא בָּא בִּשְׂכָרוֹ. טווְכִי יְפַתֶּה אִישׁ בְּתוּלָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא אֹרָשָׂה וְשָׁכַב עִמָּהּ מָהֹר יִמְהָרֶנָּה לּוֹ לְאִשָּׁה. טזאִם מָאֵן יְמָאֵן אָבִיהָ לְתִתָּהּ לוֹ כֶּסֶף יִשְׁקֹל כְּמֹהַר הַבְּתוּלֹת. יזמְכַשֵּׁפָה לֹא תְחַיֶּה. יחכָּל שֹׁכֵב עִם בְּהֵמָה מוֹת יוּמָת. יטזֹבֵחַ לָאֱלֹהִים יָחֳרָם בִּלְתִּי לַיהוה לְבַדּוֹ. כוְגֵר לֹא תוֹנֶה וְלֹא תִלְחָצֶנּוּ כִּי גֵרִים הֱיִיתֶם בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם. כאכָּל אַלְמָנָה וְיָתוֹם לֹא תְעַנּוּן. כבאִם עַנֵּה תְעַנֶּה אֹתוֹ כִּי אִם צָעֹק יִצְעַק אֵלַי שָׁמֹעַ אֶשְׁמַע צַעֲקָתוֹ. כגוְחָרָה אַפִּי וְהָרַגְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בֶּחָרֶב וְהָיוּ נְשֵׁיכֶם אַלְמָנוֹת וּבְנֵיכֶם יְתֹמִים.
כדאִם כֶּסֶף תַּלְוֶה אֶת עַמִּי אֶת הֶעָנִי עִמָּךְ לֹא תִהְיֶה לוֹ כְּנֹשֶׁה לֹא תְשִׂימוּן עָלָיו נֶשֶׁךְ. כהאִם חָבֹל תַּחְבֹּל שַׂלְמַת רֵעֶךָ עַד בֹּא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ תְּשִׁיבֶנּוּ לוֹ. כוכִּי הִוא כְסוּתֹה לְבַדָּהּ הִוא שִׂמְלָתוֹ לְעֹרוֹ בַּמֶּה יִשְׁכָּב וְהָיָה כִּי יִצְעַק אֵלַי וְשָׁמַעְתִּי כִּי חַנּוּן אָנִי. כזאֱלֹהִים לֹא תְקַלֵּל וְנָשִׂיא בְעַמְּךָ לֹא תָאֹר. כחמְלֵאָתְךָ וְדִמְעֲךָ לֹא תְאַחֵר בְּכוֹר בָּנֶיךָ תִּתֶּן לִי. כטכֵּן תַּעֲשֶׂה לְשֹׁרְךָ לְצֹאנֶךָ שִׁבְעַת יָמִים יִהְיֶה עִם אִמּוֹ בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי תִּתְּנוֹ לִי. לוְאַנְשֵׁי קֹדֶשׁ תִּהְיוּן לִי וּבָשָׂר בַּשָּׂדֶה טְרֵפָה לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ לַכֶּלֶב תַּשְׁלִכוּן אֹתוֹ.
