1And [David] made him houses in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the Aron HaElohim, and pitched for it an Ohel. 2Then David said, “None ought to carry the Aron HaElohim but the Levi’im; for them has יהוה chosen to carry the Aron יהוה , and to minister unto Him forever.”
3And David assembled all Yisra’el at Yerushalayim, to bring up the Aron יהוה unto its place, which he had prepared for it. 4And David gathered together the sons of Aharon, and the Levi’im; 5of the sons of Kehat: Uri’el the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty; 6of the sons of Merari: Asa-Yah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty; 7of the sons of Gershom: Yo’el the chief, and his brethren a hundred and thirty; 8of the sons of Elitzafan:
Shema-Yah the chief, and his brethren two hundred; 9of the sons of Khevron: Eli’el the chief, and his brethren eighty; 10of the sons of Uzi’el: Aminadav the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twelve.
11And David called for Tzadok and Evyatar the Kohanim, and for the Levi’im, for Uri’el, Asa-Yah, and Yo’el, Shema-Yah, and Eli’el, and Aminadav, 12and said unto them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levi’im; set yourselves apart, both you and your brethren, that you may bring up the Aron יהוה Elohei Yisra’el, unto the place that I have prepared for it. 13For because you [bore it] not at the first, יהוה our Elohim made a breach upon us, for that we sought Him not according to the ordinance.” 14So the Kohanim and the Levi’im hallowed themselves to bring up the Aron יהוה Elohei Yisra’el. 15And the children of the Levi’im bore the Aron HaElohim upon their shoulders with the bars thereon, as Moshe commanded according to the D’var יהוה .
16And David spoke to the chief of the Levi’im to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, nevalim and kinorot and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.
17So the Levi’im appointed Heiman Ben Yo’el; and of his brethren, Asaf Ben Berekh-Yah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Etan Ben Kusha-Yahu; 18and with them their brethren of the second degree, Zekhar-Yahu, Ben, and Ya’azi’el, and Shemiramot, and Yekhi’el, and Uni, Eli’av, and Bena-Yahu, and Ma’asei-Yahu, and Matit-Yahu, and Elifalehu, and Mikne-Yahu, and Oved Edom, and Ye’iyel, the doorkeepers. 19So the singers, Heiman, Asaf, and Etan, [were appointed,] with cymbals of brass to sound aloud; 20and Zekhar-Yah, and Azi’el, and Shemiramot, and Yekhi’el, and Uni, and Eli’av, and Ma’asei-Yah, and Bena-Yah, with nevalim set to Alamot; 21and Matit-Yahu, and Elifalehu, and Mikne-Yahu, and Oved Edom, and Ye’iyel, and Azaz-Yahu, with kinorot on the Sheminit, to lead. 22And Kenan-Yahu, chief of the Levi’im, was over the song; he was master in the song, because he was skilful. 23And Berekh-Yah and Elkanah were door-keepers for HaAron. 24And Shevan-Yahu, and Yoshafat, and Netanel, and Amasai, and Zekhar-Yahu, and Bena-Yahu, and Eli’ezer, the Kohanim, did blow with the trumpets before the Aron HaElohim; and Oved Edom and Yekhi-Yah were doorkeepers for HaAron. 25So David, and the elders of Yisra’el, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up Aron HaBrit יהוה out of the house of Oved Edom with joy.
26And it came to pass, when Elohim helped the Levi’im that bore Aron HaBrit יהוה , that they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams. 27And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levi’im that bore HaAron, and the singers, and Kenan-Yahu the master of the singers in the song; and David had upon him an efod of linen. 28Thus all Yisra’el brought up Aron HaBrit יהוה with shouting, and with sound of the shofar, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with nevalim and kinorot. 29And it came to pass, as Aron HaBrit יהוה came to the city of David, that Mikhal the daughter of Sha’ul looked out at the window, and saw Melekh David dancing and making merry; and she despised him in her heart.
אוַיַּעַשׂ לוֹ בָתִּים בְּעִיר דָּוִיד; וַיָּכֶן מָקוֹם לַאֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים וַיֶּט לוֹ אֹהֶל. באָז אָמַר דָּוִיד לֹא לָשֵׂאת אֶת אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים כִּי אִם הַלְוִיִּם: כִּי בָם בָּחַר יהוה לָשֵׂאת אֶת אֲרוֹן יהוה וּלְשָׁרְתוֹ עַד עוֹלָם.
גוַיַּקְהֵל דָּוִיד אֶת כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל יְרוּשָׁלִָם לְהַעֲלוֹת אֶת אֲרוֹן יהוה אֶל מְקוֹמוֹ אֲשֶׁר הֵכִין לוֹ. דוַיֶּאֱסֹף דָּוִיד אֶת בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן וְאֶת הַלְוִיִּם. הלִבְנֵי קְהָת אוּרִיאֵל הַשָּׂר וְאֶחָיו מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים. ולִבְנֵי מְרָרִי עֲשָׂיָה הַשָּׂר וְאֶחָיו מָאתַיִם וְעֶשְׂרִים. זלִבְנֵי גֵּרְשׁוֹם יוֹאֵל הַשָּׂר וְאֶחָיו מֵאָה וּשְׁלֹשִׁים. חלִבְנֵי אֱלִיצָפָן שְׁמַעְיָה הַשָּׂר וְאֶחָיו מָאתָיִם. טלִבְנֵי חֶבְרוֹן אֱלִיאֵל הַשָּׂר וְאֶחָיו שְׁמוֹנִים. ילִבְנֵי עֻזִּיאֵל: עַמִּינָדָב הַשָּׂר וְאֶחָיו מֵאָה וּשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר.
יאוַיִּקְרָא דָוִיד לְצָדוֹק וּלְאֶבְיָתָר הַכֹּהֲנִים; וְלַלְוִיִּם לְאוּרִיאֵל עֲשָׂיָה וְיוֹאֵל שְׁמַעְיָה וֶאֱלִיאֵל וְעַמִּינָדָב. יבוַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם אַתֶּם רָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת לַלְוִיִּם; הִתְקַדְּשׁוּ אַתֶּם וַאֲחֵיכֶם וְהַעֲלִיתֶם אֵת אֲרוֹן יהוה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל הֲכִינוֹתִי לוֹ. יגכִּי לְמַבָּרִאשׁוֹנָה לֹא אַתֶּם פָּרַץ יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ בָּנוּ כִּי לֹא דְרַשְׁנֻהוּ כַּמִּשְׁפָּט. ידוַיִּתְקַדְּשׁוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם לְהַעֲלוֹת אֶת אֲרוֹן יהוה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. טווַיִּשְׂאוּ בְנֵי הַלְוִיִּם אֵת אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה מֹשֶׁה כִּדְבַר יהוה בִּכְתֵפָם בַּמֹּטוֹת עֲלֵיהֶם.
טזוַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לְשָׂרֵי הַלְוִיִּם לְהַעֲמִיד אֶת אֲחֵיהֶם הַמְשֹׁרְרִים בִּכְלֵי שִׁיר נְבָלִים וְכִנֹּרוֹת וּמְצִלְתָּיִם מַשְׁמִיעִים לְהָרִים בְּקוֹל לְשִׂמְחָה.
יזוַיַּעֲמִידוּ הַלְוִיִּם אֵת הֵימָן בֶּן יוֹאֵל וּמִן אֶחָיו אָסָף בֶּן בֶּרֶכְיָהוּ; וּמִן בְּנֵי מְרָרִי אֲחֵיהֶם אֵיתָן בֶּן קוּשָׁיָהוּ. יחוְעִמָּהֶם אֲחֵיהֶם הַמִּשְׁנִים: זְכַרְיָהוּ בֵּן וְיַעֲזִיאֵל וּשְׁמִירָמוֹת וִיחִיאֵל וְעֻנִּי אֱלִיאָב וּבְנָיָהוּ וּמַעֲשֵׂיָהוּ וּמַתִּתְיָהוּ וֶאֱלִיפְלֵהוּ וּמִקְנֵיָהוּ וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וִיעִיאֵל הַשֹּׁעֲרִים. יטוְהַמְשֹׁרְרִים הֵימָן אָסָף וְאֵיתָן בִּמְצִלְתַּיִם נְחֹשֶׁת לְהַשְׁמִיעַ. כוּזְכַרְיָה וַעֲזִיאֵל וּשְׁמִירָמוֹת וִיחִיאֵל וְעֻנִּי וֶאֱלִיאָב וּמַעֲשֵׂיָהוּ וּבְנָיָהוּ בִּנְבָלִים עַל עֲלָמוֹת. כאוּמַתִּתְיָהוּ וֶאֱלִיפְלֵהוּ וּמִקְנֵיָהוּ וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וִיעִיאֵל וַעֲזַזְיָהוּ בְּכִנֹּרוֹת עַל הַשְּׁמִינִית לְנַצֵּחַ. כבוּכְנַנְיָהוּ שַׂר הַלְוִיִּם בְּמַשָּׂא יָסֹר בַּמַּשָּׂא כִּי מֵבִין הוּא. כגוּבֶרֶכְיָה וְאֶלְקָנָה שֹׁעֲרִים לָאָרוֹן. כדוּשְׁבַנְיָהוּ וְיוֹשָׁפָט וּנְתַנְאֵל וַעֲמָשַׂי וּזְכַרְיָהוּ וּבְנָיָהוּ וֶאֱלִיעֶזֶר הַכֹּהֲנִים מחצצרים (מַחְצְרִים) בַּחֲצֹצְרוֹת לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים; וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וִיחִיָּה שֹׁעֲרִים לָאָרוֹן. כהוַיְהִי דָוִיד וְזִקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְשָׂרֵי הָאֲלָפִים: הַהֹלְכִים לְהַעֲלוֹת אֶת אֲרוֹן בְּרִית יהוה מִן בֵּית עֹבֵד אֱדֹם בְּשִׂמְחָה.
כווַיְהִי בֶּעְזֹר הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת הַלְוִיִּם נֹשְׂאֵי אֲרוֹן בְּרִית יהוה ; וַיִּזְבְּחוּ שִׁבְעָה פָרִים וְשִׁבְעָה אֵילִים. כזוְדָוִיד מְכֻרְבָּל בִּמְעִיל בּוּץ וְכָל הַלְוִיִּם הַנֹּשְׂאִים אֶת הָאָרוֹן וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִים וּכְנַנְיָה הַשַּׂר הַמַּשָּׂא הַמְשֹׁרְרִים; וְעַל דָּוִיד אֵפוֹד בָּד. כחוְכָל יִשְׂרָאֵל מַעֲלִים אֶת אֲרוֹן בְּרִית יהוה בִּתְרוּעָה וּבְקוֹל שׁוֹפָר וּבַחֲצֹצְרוֹת וּבִמְצִלְתָּיִם; מַשְׁמִעִים בִּנְבָלִים וְכִנֹּרוֹת. כטוַיְהִי אֲרוֹן בְּרִית יהוה בָּא עַד עִיר דָּוִיד; וּמִיכַל בַּת שָׁאוּל נִשְׁקְפָה בְּעַד הַחַלּוֹן וַתֵּרֶא אֶת הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִיד מְרַקֵּד וּמְשַׂחֵק וַתִּבֶז לוֹ בְּלִבָּהּ.
