1And Yehoshafat Melekh Yehudah returned to his house in shalom to Yerushalayim. 2And Yehu Ben Khanani HaKhozeh went out to meet him, and said to king Yehoshafat, “Should you help the wicked, and love them that hate יהוה ? For this thing wrath is upon you from before יהוה . Nevertheless3 there are good things found in you, in that you have put away the Asherot out of the land, and have set your heart to seek Elohim.” 4And Yehoshafat dwelt at Yerushalayim; and he went out again among the people from Be’er Shava to the hill-country of Efrayim, and brought them back unto יהוה , the Elohim of their fathers. 5And he set judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Yehudah, city by city, 6and said to the judges, “Consider what you do; for you judge not for man, but for יהוה ; and [He is] with you in giving judgment. 7Now, therefore, let the fear of יהוה be upon you; take heed and do it; for there is no iniquity with יהוה our Elohim, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.” 8Moreover, in Yerushalayim did Yehoshafat set of the Levi’im and the Kohanim, and of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Yisra’el, for the judgment of יהוה , and for controversies. And they returned to Yerushalayim. 9And he charged them, saying, “Thus shall you do in the fear of יהוה , faithfully, and with a whole heart. 10And whenever any controversy shall come to you from your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between Torah and Mitzvah, statutes and ordinances, you shall warn them, that they be not guilty towards יהוה , and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren; thus shall you do, and you shall not be guilty. 11And, behold, Amar-Yah the chief Kohen is over you in all matters of יהוה ; and Zevad-Yah Ben Yishma’el, the ruler of Beit Yehudah, in all the matters of HaMelekh; also the officers of the Levi’im before you. Deal courageously, and יהוה be with the good.”
אוַיָּשָׁב יְהוֹשָׁפָט מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה אֶל בֵּיתוֹ בְּשָׁלוֹם לִירוּשָׁלִָם. בוַיֵּצֵא אֶל פָּנָיו יֵהוּא בֶן חֲנָנִי הַחֹזֶה וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל הַמֶּלֶךְ יְהוֹשָׁפָט הֲלָרָשָׁע לַעְזֹר וּלְשֹׂנְאֵי יהוה תֶּאֱהָב: וּבָזֹאת עָלֶיךָ קֶּצֶף מִלִּפְנֵי יהוה . גאֲבָל דְּבָרִים טוֹבִים נִמְצְאוּ עִמָּךְ: כִּי בִעַרְתָּ הָאֲשֵׁרוֹת מִן הָאָרֶץ וַהֲכִינוֹתָ לְבָבְךָ לִדְרֹשׁ הָאֱלֹהִים. דוַיֵּשֶׁב יְהוֹשָׁפָט בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיָּשָׁב וַיֵּצֵא בָעָם מִבְּאֵר שֶׁבַע עַד הַר אֶפְרַיִם וַיְשִׁיבֵם אֶל יהוה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵיהֶם. הוַיַּעֲמֵד שֹׁפְטִים בָּאָרֶץ בְּכָל עָרֵי יְהוּדָה הַבְּצֻרוֹת לְעִיר וָעִיר. ווַיֹּאמֶר אֶל הַשֹּׁפְטִים רְאוּ מָה אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים כִּי לֹא לְאָדָם תִּשְׁפְּטוּ כִּי לַיהוה ; וְעִמָּכֶם בִּדְבַר מִשְׁפָּט. זוְעַתָּה יְהִי פַחַד יהוה עֲלֵיכֶם: שִׁמְרוּ וַעֲשׂוּ כִּי אֵין עִם יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ עַוְלָה וּמַשֹּׂא פָנִים וּמִקַּח שֹׁחַד. חוְגַם בִּירוּשָׁלִַם הֶעֱמִיד יְהוֹשָׁפָט מִן הַלְוִיִּם וְהַכֹּהֲנִים וּמֵרָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְמִשְׁפַּט יהוה וְלָרִיב; וַיָּשֻׁבוּ יְרוּשָׁלִָם. טוַיְצַו עֲלֵיהֶם לֵאמֹר: כֹּה תַעֲשׂוּן בְּיִרְאַת יהוה בֶּאֱמוּנָה וּבְלֵבָב שָׁלֵם. יוְכָל רִיב אֲשֶׁר יָבוֹא עֲלֵיכֶם מֵאֲחֵיכֶם הַיֹּשְׁבִים בְּעָרֵיהֶם בֵּין דָּם לְדָם בֵּין תּוֹרָה לְמִצְוָה לְחֻקִּים וּלְמִשְׁפָּטִים וְהִזְהַרְתֶּם אֹתָם וְלֹא יֶאְשְׁמוּ לַיהוה וְהָיָה קֶצֶף עֲלֵיכֶם וְעַל אֲחֵיכֶם: כֹּה תַעֲשׂוּן וְלֹא תֶאְשָׁמוּ. יאוְהִנֵּה אֲמַרְיָהוּ כֹהֵן הָרֹאשׁ עֲלֵיכֶם לְכֹל דְּבַר יהוה וּזְבַדְיָהוּ בֶן יִשְׁמָעֵאל הַנָּגִיד לְבֵית יְהוּדָה לְכֹל דְּבַר הַמֶּלֶךְ וְשֹׁטְרִים הַלְוִיִּם לִפְנֵיכֶם: חִזְקוּ וַעֲשׂוּ וִיהִי יהוה עִם הַטּוֹב.
