1And Yoshi-Yahu kept a Pesakh unto יהוה in Yerushalayim; and they killed the Pesakh lamb on the fourteenth day of the first khodesh. 2And he set the Kohanim in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of Beit יהוה . And3 he said unto the Levi’im that taught all Yisra’el, that were Kadosh unto יהוה , “Put the Aron HaKadosh in the house which Shlomo Ben David Melekh Yisra’el did build; there shall no more be a burden upon your shoulders; now serve יהוה your Elohim, and His people Yisra’el. 4And prepare after your fathers’ houses by your courses, according to the writing of David Melekh Yisra’el, and according to the writing of Shlomo his son. 5And stand in the Kodesh according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brethren the children of the people, and [let there be for each] a portion of a father’s house of the Levi’im. 6And kill the Pesakh lamb, and set yourselves apart, and prepare for your brethren, to do according to the D’var יהוה by the hand of Moshe.”
7And Yoshi-Yahu gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all of them for the Pesakhim, unto all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks; these were of the substance of HaMelekh. 8And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the Kohanim, and to the Levi’im. Khilki-Yah and Zekhar-Yahu and Yekhi’el, the rulers of Beit HaElohim, gave unto the Kohanim for the Pesakhim two thousand and six hundred [small cattle], and three hundred oxen. 9Khonan-Yahu also, and Shema-Yahu and Netanel, his brethren, and Khashav-Yahu and Ye’iyel and Yozavad, the chiefs of the Levi’im, gave unto the Levi’im for the Pesakhim five thousand [small cattle], and five hundred oxen. 10So the service was prepared, and the Kohanim stood in their place, and the Levi’im by their courses, according to the commandment of HaMelekh. 11And they killed the Pesakh, and the Kohanim dashed [the blood, which they received] of their hand, and the Levi’im flayed them. 12And they removed the portions that were to be burnt, that they might give them to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to present unto יהוה , as it is written in Sefer Moshe. And so did they with the oxen. 13And they roasted the Pesakh with fire according to the ordinance; and the kadosh offerings they sod in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people. 14And afterward they prepared for themselves, and for the Kohanim; because the Kohanim B’nei Aharon were busied in offering the portions that were to be burnt and the fat until night; therefore the Levi’im prepared for themselves, and for the Kohanim B’nei Aharon. 15And the singers the sons of Asaf were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaf, and Heiman, and Yedutun the Melekh’s Khozeh; and the porters were at every gate; they needed not to depart from their service, for their brethren the Levi’im prepared for them. 16So all the service of יהוה was prepared the same day, to keep the Pesakh, and to offer Olot upon the Mizbe’akh יהוה , according to the commandment of Melekh Yoshi-Yahu. 17And B’nei Yisra’el that were present kept the Pesakh at that time, and Khag HaMatzot seven days. 18And there was no Pesakh like unto that kept in Yisra’el from the days of Shmu’el HaNavi; neither did any of the Melakhim of Yisra’el keep such a Pesakh as Yoshi-Yahu kept, and the Kohanim, and the Levi’im, and all Yehudah and Yisra’el that were present, and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim. 19In the eighteenth year of the reign of Yoshi-Yahu was this Pesakh kept.
20After all this, when Yoshi-Yahu had prepared the House, Nekho king of Mitzrayim went up to fight against Kharkemish by the Perat; and Yoshi-Yahu went out against him. 21But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, Melekh Yehudah? I come not against you this day, but against the house wherewith I have war; and Elohim has given command to speed me; forbear from meddling with Elohim, who is with me, that He destroy you not.” 22Nevertheless Yoshi-Yahu would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Nekho, from the mouth of Elohim, and came to fight in the valley of Megido. 23And the archers shot at king Yoshi-Yahu; and the king said to his servants, “Have me away; for I am sore wounded.” 24So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Yerushalayim; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. And all Yehudah and Yerushalayim mourned for Yoshi-Yahu.
25And Yirme-Yahu lamented for Yoshi-Yahu; and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Yoshi-Yahu in their lamentations, unto this day; and they made them an ordinance in Yisra’el; and, behold, they are written in the lamentations. 26Now the rest of the acts of Yoshi-Yahu, and his good deeds, according to that which is written in the Torah of יהוה , and27 his acts, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the Melakhim of Yisra’el and Yehudah.
