1Then the people of the land took Yeho’akhaz Ben Yoshi-Yahu, and made him Melekh in his father’s stead in Yerushalayim. 2Yo’akhaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three khadashim in Yerushalayim. 3And the king of Mitzrayim deposed him at Yerushalayim, and fined the land a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold. 4And the king of Mitzrayim made Eliakim his brother king over Yehudah and Yerushalayim, and changed his name to Yehoyakim. And Nekho took Yo’akhaz his brother, and carried him to Mitzrayim.
5Yehoyakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Yerushalayim; and he did that which was evil in the sight of יהוה his Elohim. 6Against him came up Nevukhadnetzar king of Bavel, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Bavel. 7Nevukhadnetzar also carried of the vessels of Beit יהוה to Bavel, and put them in his temple at Bavel. 8Now the rest of the acts of Yehoyakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the Melakhim of Yisra’el and Yehudah; and Yehoyakhin his son reigned in his stead.
9Yehoyakhin was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three khadashim and ten days in Yerushalayim; and he did that which was evil in the sight of יהוה . And10 at the return of the year king Nevukhadnetzar sent, and brought him to Bavel, with the goodly vessels of Beit יהוה , and made Tzidki-Yahu his brother Melekh over Yehudah and Yerushalayim.
11Tzidki-Yahu was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Yerushalayim; 12and he did that which was evil in the sight of יהוה his Elohim; he humbled not himself before Yirme-Yahu HaNavi speaking from the mouth of יהוה . And13 he also rebelled against king Nevukhadnetzar, who had made him swear by Elohim; but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto יהוה Elohei Yisra’el. 14Moreover all the chiefs of the Kohanim, and the people, transgressed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted Beit יהוה which He had hallowed in Yerushalayim. 15And יהוה , the Elohim of their fathers, sent to them by His messengers, sending betimes and often; because He had compassion on His people, and on His dwelling-place; 16but they mocked the messengers of Elohim, and despised His words, and scoffed at His Nevi’im, until the wrath of יהוה arose against His people, till there was no remedy. 17Therefore He brought upon them the king of the Kasdim, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their Mikdash, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man or gray-headed; He gave them all into his hand. 18And all the vessels of Beit HaElohim, great and small, and the treasures of Beit יהוה , and the treasures of HaMelekh, and of his princes; all these he brought to Bavel. 19And they burnt Beit HaElohim, and broke down the wall of Yerushalayim, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. 20And them that had escaped from the sword he carried away to Bavel; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Paras; 21to fulfill the D’var יהוה by the mouth of Yirme-Yahu, until the land had been paid her Shabbatot; for as long as she lay desolate she kept Shabbat, to fulfill seventy years. 22Now in the first year of Koresh king of Paras, that D’var יהוה by the mouth of Yirme-Yahu might be accomplished, יהוה stirred up the spirit of Koresh king of Paras, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, 23“Thus says Koresh king of Paras, ‘All the kingdoms of the earth has יהוה , the Elohim of heaven, given me; and He has charged me to build Him a house in Yerushalayim, which is in Yehudah. Whoever there is among you of all His people, יהוה his Elohim be with him, let him go up.”
אוַיִּקְחוּ עַם הָאָרֶץ אֶת יְהוֹאָחָז בֶּן יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ; וַיַּמְלִיכֻהוּ תַחַת אָבִיו בִּירוּשָׁלִָם. בבֶּן שָׁלוֹשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה יוֹאָחָז בְּמָלְכוֹ; וּשְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם. גוַיְסִירֵהוּ מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּעֲנֹשׁ אֶת הָאָרֶץ מֵאָה כִכַּר כֶּסֶף וְכִכַּר זָהָב. דוַיַּמְלֵךְ מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם אֶת אֶלְיָקִים אָחִיו עַל יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלִַם וַיַּסֵּב אֶת שְׁמוֹ יְהוֹיָקִים; וְאֶת יוֹאָחָז אָחִיו לָקַח נְכוֹ וַיְבִיאֵהוּ מִצְרָיְמָה.
הבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים וְחָמֵשׁ שָׁנָה יְהוֹיָקִים בְּמָלְכוֹ וְאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יהוה אֱלֹהָיו. ועָלָיו עָלָה נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל; וַיַּאַסְרֵהוּ בַּנְחֻשְׁתַּיִם לְהֹלִיכוֹ בָּבֶלָה. זוּמִכְּלֵי בֵּית יהוה הֵבִיא נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר לְבָבֶל; וַיִּתְּנֵם בְּהֵיכָלוֹ בְּבָבֶל. חוְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יְהוֹיָקִים וְתֹעֲבֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וְהַנִּמְצָא עָלָיו הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים עַל סֵפֶר מַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וִיהוּדָה; וַיִּמְלֹךְ יְהוֹיָכִין בְּנוֹ תַּחְתָּיו.
טבֶּן שְׁמוֹנֶה שָׁנִים יְהוֹיָכִין בְּמָלְכוֹ וּשְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים וַעֲשֶׂרֶת יָמִים מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יהוה . יוְלִתְשׁוּבַת הַשָּׁנָה שָׁלַח הַמֶּלֶךְ נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר וַיְבִאֵהוּ בָבֶלָה עִם כְּלֵי חֶמְדַּת בֵּית יהוה ; וַיַּמְלֵךְ אֶת צִדְקִיָּהוּ אָחִיו עַל יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלִָם.
יאבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים וְאַחַת שָׁנָה צִדְקִיָּהוּ בְמָלְכוֹ; וְאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם. יבוַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יהוה אֱלֹהָיו: לֹא נִכְנַע מִלִּפְנֵי יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא מִפִּי יהוה . יגוְגַם בַּמֶּלֶךְ נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר מָרָד אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁבִּיעוֹ בֵּאלֹהִים; וַיֶּקֶשׁ אֶת עָרְפּוֹ וַיְאַמֵּץ אֶת לְבָבוֹ מִשּׁוּב אֶל יהוה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. ידגַּם כָּל שָׂרֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהָעָם הִרְבּוּ למעול (לִמְעָל) מַעַל כְּכֹל תֹּעֲבוֹת הַגּוֹיִם; וַיְטַמְּאוּ אֶת בֵּית יהוה אֲשֶׁר הִקְדִּישׁ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם. טווַיִּשְׁלַח יהוה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵיהֶם עֲלֵיהֶם בְּיַד מַלְאָכָיו הַשְׁכֵּם וְשָׁלוֹחַ: כִּי חָמַל עַל עַמּוֹ וְעַל מְעוֹנוֹ. טזוַיִּהְיוּ מַלְעִבִים בְּמַלְאֲכֵי הָאֱלֹהִים וּבוֹזִים דְּבָרָיו וּמִתַּעְתְּעִים בִּנְבִאָיו: עַד עֲלוֹת חֲמַת יהוה בְּעַמּוֹ עַד לְאֵין מַרְפֵּא. יזוַיַּעַל עֲלֵיהֶם אֶת מֶלֶךְ כשדיים (כַּשְׂדִּים) וַיַּהֲרֹג בַּחוּרֵיהֶם בַּחֶרֶב בְּבֵית מִקְדָּשָׁם וְלֹא חָמַל עַל בָּחוּר וּבְתוּלָה זָקֵן וְיָשֵׁשׁ: הַכֹּל נָתַן בְּיָדוֹ. יחוְכֹל כְּלֵי בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים הַגְּדֹלִים וְהַקְּטַנִּים וְאֹצְרוֹת בֵּית יהוה וְאֹצְרוֹת הַמֶּלֶךְ וְשָׂרָיו הַכֹּל הֵבִיא בָבֶל. יטוַיִּשְׂרְפוּ אֶת בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים וַיְנַתְּצוּ אֵת חוֹמַת יְרוּשָׁלִָם; וְכָל אַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָ שָׂרְפוּ בָאֵשׁ וְכָל כְּלֵי מַחֲמַדֶּיהָ לְהַשְׁחִית. כוַיֶּגֶל הַשְּׁאֵרִית מִן הַחֶרֶב אֶל בָּבֶל; וַיִּהְיוּ לוֹ וּלְבָנָיו לַעֲבָדִים עַד מְלֹךְ מַלְכוּת פָּרָס. כאלְמַלֹּאות דְּבַר יהוה בְּפִי יִרְמְיָהוּ עַד רָצְתָה הָאָרֶץ אֶת שַׁבְּתוֹתֶיהָ: כָּל יְמֵי הָשַּׁמָּה שָׁבָתָה לְמַלֹּאות שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה. כבוּבִשְׁנַת אַחַת לְכוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ פָּרַס לִכְלוֹת דְּבַר יהוה בְּפִי יִרְמְיָהוּ הֵעִיר יהוה אֶת רוּחַ כּוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ פָּרַס וַיַּעֲבֶר קוֹל בְּכָל מַלְכוּתוֹ וְגַם בְּמִכְתָּב לֵאמֹר, כגכֹּה אָמַר כּוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ פָּרַס כָּל מַמְלְכוֹת הָאָרֶץ נָתַן לִי יהוה אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם וְהוּא פָקַד עָלַי לִבְנוֹת לוֹ בַיִת בִּירוּשָׁלִַם אֲשֶׁר בִּיהוּדָה: מִי בָכֶם מִכָּל עַמּוֹ יהוה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ וְיָעַל.
