Iyov 40 – איוב מ

¹Moreover  יהוה  answered Iyov, and said,

²“Shall he that reproves contend with Shadai? He that argues with Eloha, let him answer it.”

³Then Iyov answered  יהוה , and said,

⁴“Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer You? I lay my hand upon my mouth.

⁵Once have I spoken, but I will not answer again; yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

⁶Then  יהוה  answered Iyov out of the whirlwind, and said,

⁷“Gird up your loins now like a man; I will demand of you, and you, declare unto Me.

⁸Will you even make void My judgment? Will you condemn Me, that you may be justified?

⁹Or have you an arm like God? And can you thunder with a voice like Him?

¹⁰Deck yourself now with majesty and excellency, and array yourself with Kavod and beauty.

¹¹Cast abroad the rage of your wrath; and look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.

¹²Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

¹³Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in the hidden place.

¹⁴Then will I also confess unto you that your own right hand can save you.

¹⁵Behold now Behemot, which I made with you; he eats grass as an ox.

¹⁶Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the stays of his body.

¹⁷He strains his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.

¹⁸His bones are as pipes of brass; his gristles are like bars of iron.

¹⁹He is the beginning of the ways of God; He only that made him can make His sword to approach unto him.

²⁰Surely the mountains bring him forth food, and all the beasts of the field play there.

²¹He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

²²The lotus trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook encompass him about.

²³Behold, if a river overflows, he trembles not; he is confident, though the Yarden rushes forth to his mouth.

²⁴Shall any take him by his eyes, or pierce through his nose with a snare?

²⁵Can you draw out Livyatan with a fish-hook, or press down his tongue with a cord?

²⁶Can you put a ring into his nose, or bore his jaw through with a hook?

²⁷Will he make many supplications unto you, or will he speak soft words unto you?

²⁸Will he make a covenant with you, that you should take him for a servant forever?

²⁹Will you play with him as with a bird? Or will you bind him for your maidens?

³⁰Will the bands of fishermen make a banquet of him? Will they part him among the merchants?

³¹Can you fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with fish-spears?

³²Lay your hand upon him; think upon the battle, you will do so no more.”

^אוַיַּעַן יהוה אֶת אִיּוֹב; וַיֹּאמַר,

^בהֲרֹב עִם שַׁדַּי יִסּוֹר; מוֹכִיחַ אֱלוֹהַּ יַעֲנֶנָּה.

^גוַיַּעַן אִיּוֹב אֶת יהוה ; וַיֹּאמַר,

^דהֵן קַלֹּתִי מָה אֲשִׁיבֶךָּ; יָדִי שַׂמְתִּי לְמוֹ פִי.

^האַחַת דִּבַּרְתִּי וְלֹא אֶעֱנֶה; וּשְׁתַּיִם וְלֹא אוֹסִיף.

^ווַיַּעַן יהוה אֶת אִיּוֹב מנסערה (מִן סְעָרָה); וַיֹּאמַר,

^זאֱזָר נָא כְגֶבֶר חֲלָצֶיךָ; אֶשְׁאָלְךָ וְהוֹדִיעֵנִי.

^חהַאַף תָּפֵר מִשְׁפָּטִי; תַּרְשִׁיעֵנִי לְמַעַן תִּצְדָּק.

^טוְאִם זְרוֹעַ כָּאֵל לָךְ; וּבְקוֹל כָּמֹהוּ תַרְעֵם.

^יעֲדֵה נָא גָאוֹן וָגֹבַהּ; וְהוֹד וְהָדָר תִּלְבָּשׁ.

^יאהָפֵץ עֶבְרוֹת אַפֶּךָ; וּרְאֵה כָל גֵּאֶה וְהַשְׁפִּילֵהוּ.

^יברְאֵה כָל גֵּאֶה הַכְנִיעֵהוּ; וַהֲדֹךְ רְשָׁעִים תַּחְתָּם.

^יגטָמְנֵם בֶּעָפָר יָחַד; פְּנֵיהֶם חֲבֹשׁ בַּטָּמוּן.

^ידוְגַם אֲנִי אוֹדֶךָּ: כִּי תוֹשִׁעַ לְךָ יְמִינֶךָ.

^טוהִנֵּה נָא בְהֵמוֹת אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי עִמָּךְ; חָצִיר כַּבָּקָר יֹאכֵל.

^טזהִנֵּה נָא כֹחוֹ בְמָתְנָיו; וְאוֹנוֹ בִּשְׁרִירֵי בִטְנוֹ.

^יזיַחְפֹּץ זְנָבוֹ כְמוֹ אָרֶז; גִּידֵי פַחֲדָו יְשֹׂרָגוּ.

^יחעֲצָמָיו אֲפִיקֵי נְחֻשָׁה; גְּרָמָיו כִּמְטִיל בַּרְזֶל.

^יטהוּא רֵאשִׁית דַּרְכֵי אֵל; הָעֹשׂוֹ יַגֵּשׁ חַרְבּוֹ.

^ככִּי בוּל הָרִים יִשְׂאוּ לוֹ; וְכָל חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה יְשַׂחֲקוּ שָׁם.

^כאתַּחַת צֶאֱלִים יִשְׁכָּב בְּסֵתֶר קָנֶה וּבִצָּה.

^כביְסֻכֻּהוּ צֶאֱלִים צִלְלוֹ; יְסֻבּוּהוּ עַרְבֵי נָחַל.

^כגהֵן יַעֲשֹׁק נָהָר לֹא יַחְפּוֹז; יִבְטַח כִּי יָגִיחַ יַרְדֵּן אֶל פִּיהוּ.

^כדבְּעֵינָיו יִקָּחֶנּוּ; בְּמוֹקְשִׁים יִנְקָב אָף.

^כהתִּמְשֹׁךְ לִוְיָתָן בְּחַכָּה; וּבְחֶבֶל תַּשְׁקִיעַ לְשֹׁנוֹ.

^כוהֲתָשִׂים אַגְמֹן בְּאַפּוֹ; וּבְחוֹחַ תִּקֹּב לֶחֱיוֹ.

^כזהֲיַרְבֶּה אֵלֶיךָ תַּחֲנוּנִים; אִם יְדַבֵּר אֵלֶיךָ רַכּוֹת.

^כחהֲיִכְרֹת בְּרִית עִמָּךְ; תִּקָּחֶנּוּ לְעֶבֶד עוֹלָם.

^כטהַתְשַׂחֶק בּוֹ כַּצִּפּוֹר; וְתִקְשְׁרֶנּוּ לְנַעֲרוֹתֶיךָ.

^ליִכְרוּ עָלָיו חַבָּרִים; יֶחֱצוּהוּ בֵּין כְּנַעֲנִים.

^לאהַתְמַלֵּא בְשֻׂכּוֹת עוֹרוֹ; וּבְצִלְצַל דָּגִים רֹאשׁוֹ.

^לבשִׂים עָלָיו כַּפֶּךָ; זְכֹר מִלְחָמָה אַל תּוֹסַף.
