1A soft answer turns away wrath; but a grievous word stirs up anger.
2The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright; but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.
3The eyes of יהוה are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.
4A soothing tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a wound to the spirit.
5A fool despises his father’s correction; but he that regards reproof is prudent.
6In the house of a Tzadik is much treasure; but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; but the heart of the foolish is not stedfast.
8The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to יהוה ; but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
9The way of the wicked is an abomination to יהוה ; but He loves him that follows after tzedaka.
10There is grievous correction for him that forsakes the way; and he that hates reproof shall die.
11She’ol and Abadon are against יהוה ; how much more, then, are the hearts of the children of men!
12A scorner loves not to be reproved; he will not go unto the wise.
13A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
14The heart of him that has discernment seeks knowledge; but the mouth of fools feeds on folly.
15All the days of the poor are evil; but he that is of a merry heart has a continual drink.
16Better is little with the fear of יהוה , than great treasure and turmoil therewith.
17Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18A wrathful man stirs up discord; but he that is slow to anger appeases strife.
19The way of the sluggard is as though hedged by thorns; but the path of the upright is even.
20A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish man despises his mother.
21Folly is joy to him that lacks understanding; but a man of discernment walks straightforward.
22For want of counsel purposes are frustrated; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23A man has joy in the answer of his mouth; and a word in due season, how good is it!
24The path of life goes upward for the wise, that he may depart from She’ol beneath.
25 יהוה will pluck up the house of the proud; but He will establish the border of the widow.
26The thoughts of wickedness are an abomination to יהוה ; but words of pleasantness are pure.
27He that is greedy of gain troubles his own house; but he that hates gifts shall live.
28The heart of the Tzadik studies to answer; but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.
29 יהוה is far from the wicked; but He hears the prayer of the Tzadikim.
30The light of the eyes rejoices the heart; and a good report makes the bones healthy.
31The ear that hearkens to the reproof of life abides among the wise.
32He that refuses correction despises his own soul; but he that hearkens to reproof gets understanding.
33The fear of יהוה is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor goes humility.
אמַעֲנֶה רַּךְ יָשִׁיב חֵמָה; וּדְבַר עֶצֶב יַעֲלֶה אָף.
בלְשׁוֹן חֲכָמִים תֵּיטִיב דָּעַת; וּפִי כְסִילִים יַבִּיעַ אִוֶּלֶת.
גבְּכָל מָקוֹם עֵינֵי יהוה ; צֹפוֹת רָעִים וְטוֹבִים.
דמַרְפֵּא לָשׁוֹן עֵץ חַיִּים; וְסֶלֶף בָּהּ שֶׁבֶר בְּרוּחַ.
האֱוִיל יִנְאַץ מוּסַר אָבִיו; וְשֹׁמֵר תּוֹכַחַת יַעְרִים.
ובֵּית צַדִּיק חֹסֶן רָב; וּבִתְבוּאַת רָשָׁע נֶעְכָּרֶת.
זשִׂפְתֵי חֲכָמִים יְזָרוּ דָעַת; וְלֵב כְּסִילִים לֹא כֵן.
חזֶבַח רְשָׁעִים תּוֹעֲבַת יהוה ; וּתְפִלַּת יְשָׁרִים רְצוֹנוֹ.
טתּוֹעֲבַת יהוה דֶּרֶךְ רָשָׁע; וּמְרַדֵּף צְדָקָה יֶאֱהָב.
ימוּסָר רָע לְעֹזֵב אֹרַח; שׂוֹנֵא תוֹכַחַת יָמוּת.
יאשְׁאוֹל וַאֲבַדּוֹן נֶגֶד יהוה ; אַף כִּי לִבּוֹת בְּנֵי אָדָם.
יבלֹא יֶאֱהַב לֵץ הוֹכֵחַ לוֹ; אֶל חֲכָמִים לֹא יֵלֵךְ.
יגלֵב שָׂמֵחַ יֵיטִב פָּנִים; וּבְעַצְּבַת לֵב רוּחַ נְכֵאָה.
ידלֵב נָבוֹן יְבַקֶּשׁ דָּעַת; ופני (וּפִי) כְסִילִים יִרְעֶה אִוֶּלֶת.
טוכָּל יְמֵי עָנִי רָעִים; וְטוֹב לֵב מִשְׁתֶּה תָמִיד.
טזטוֹב מְעַט בְּיִרְאַת יהוה מֵאוֹצָר רָב וּמְהוּמָה בוֹ.
יזטוֹב אֲרֻחַת יָרָק וְאַהֲבָה שָׁם מִשּׁוֹר אָבוּס וְשִׂנְאָה בוֹ.
יחאִישׁ חֵמָה יְגָרֶה מָדוֹן; וְאֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם יַשְׁקִיט רִיב.
יטדֶּרֶךְ עָצֵל כִּמְשֻׂכַת חָדֶק; וְאֹרַח יְשָׁרִים סְלֻלָה.
כבֵּן חָכָם יְשַׂמַּח אָב; וּכְסִיל אָדָם בּוֹזֶה אִמּוֹ.
כאאִוֶּלֶת שִׂמְחָה לַחֲסַר לֵב; וְאִישׁ תְּבוּנָה יְיַשֶּׁר לָכֶת.
כבהָפֵר מַחֲשָׁבוֹת בְּאֵין סוֹד; וּבְרֹב יוֹעֲצִים תָּקוּם.
כגשִׂמְחָה לָאִישׁ בְּמַעֲנֵה פִיו; וְדָבָר בְּעִתּוֹ מַה טּוֹב.
כדאֹרַח חַיִּים לְמַעְלָה לְמַשְׂכִּיל לְמַעַן סוּר מִשְּׁאוֹל מָטָּה.
כהבֵּית גֵּאִים יִסַּח יהוה ; וְיַצֵּב גְּבוּל אַלְמָנָה.
כותּוֹעֲבַת יהוה מַחְשְׁבוֹת רָע; וּטְהֹרִים אִמְרֵי נֹעַם.
כזעֹכֵר בֵּיתוֹ בּוֹצֵעַ בָּצַע; וְשׂוֹנֵא מַתָּנֹת יִחְיֶה.
כחלֵב צַדִּיק יֶהְגֶּה לַעֲנוֹת; וּפִי רְשָׁעִים יַבִּיעַ רָעוֹת.
כטרָחוֹק יהוה מֵרְשָׁעִים; וּתְפִלַּת צַדִּיקִים יִשְׁמָע.
למְאוֹר עֵינַיִם יְשַׂמַּח לֵב; שְׁמוּעָה טוֹבָה תְּדַשֶּׁן עָצֶם.
לאאֹזֶן שֹׁמַעַת תּוֹכַחַת חַיִּים: בְּקֶרֶב חֲכָמִים תָּלִין.
לבפּוֹרֵעַ מוּסָר מוֹאֵס נַפְשׁוֹ; וְשׁוֹמֵעַ תּוֹכַחַת קוֹנֶה לֵּב.
