1B’ni, attend unto my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding;
2That you may preserve discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge.
3For the lips of a harlot drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
4But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5Her feet go down to Mavet; her steps take hold on She’ol;
6Lest she should walk the even path of life, her ways wander, but she knows it not.
7Now therefore, O you children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8Remove your way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house;
9Lest you give your vigor unto others, and your years unto the cruel;
10Lest strangers be filled with your strength, and your labors be in the house of a foreigner;
11And you moan, when your end comes, when your body and your flesh are consumed,
12And say, “How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13Neither have I hearkened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to them that instructed me!
14I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.”
15Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well.
16Let your springs be dispersed abroad, and courses of water in the streets.
17Let them be only your own, and not for strangers with you.
18Let your fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of your youth.
19A lovely hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; with her love may you be ravished always.
20Why then will you, my son, be ravished with a harlot, and embrace the bosom of a foreigner?
21For the ways of man are before the eyes of יהוה , and He makes even all his paths.
22His own iniquities shall ensnare the wicked, and he shall be held with the cords of his sin.
23He shall die for lack of instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall reel.
אבְּנִי לְחָכְמָתִי הַקְשִׁיבָה; לִתְבוּנָתִי הַט אָזְנֶךָ.
בלִשְׁמֹר מְזִמּוֹת; וְדַעַת שְׂפָתֶיךָ יִנְצֹרוּ.
גכִּי נֹפֶת תִּטֹּפְנָה שִׂפְתֵי זָרָה; וְחָלָק מִשֶּׁמֶן חִכָּהּ.
דוְאַחֲרִיתָהּ מָרָה כַלַּעֲנָה; חַדָּה כְּחֶרֶב פִּיּוֹת.
הרַגְלֶיהָ יֹרְדוֹת מָוֶת; שְׁאוֹל צְעָדֶיהָ יִתְמֹכוּ.
ואֹרַח חַיִּים פֶּן תְּפַלֵּס; נָעוּ מַעְגְּלֹתֶיהָ לֹא תֵדָע.
זוְעַתָּה בָנִים שִׁמְעוּ לִי; וְאַל תָּסוּרוּ מֵאִמְרֵי פִי.
חהַרְחֵק מֵעָלֶיהָ דַרְכֶּךָ; וְאַל תִּקְרַב אֶל פֶּתַח בֵּיתָהּ.
טפֶּן תִּתֵּן לַאֲחֵרִים הוֹדֶךָ; וּשְׁנֹתֶיךָ לְאַכְזָרִי.
יפֶּן יִשְׂבְּעוּ זָרִים כֹּחֶךָ; וַעֲצָבֶיךָ בְּבֵית נָכְרִי.
יאוְנָהַמְתָּ בְאַחֲרִיתֶךָ; בִּכְלוֹת בְּשָׂרְךָ וּשְׁאֵרֶךָ.
יבוְאָמַרְתָּ אֵיךְ שָׂנֵאתִי מוּסָר; וְתוֹכַחַת נָאַץ לִבִּי.
יגוְלֹא שָׁמַעְתִּי בְּקוֹל מוֹרָי; וְלִמְלַמְּדַי לֹא הִטִּיתִי אָזְנִי.
ידכִּמְעַט הָיִיתִי בְכָל רָע בְּתוֹךְ קָהָל וְעֵדָה.
טושְׁתֵה מַיִם מִבּוֹרֶךָ; וְנֹזְלִים מִתּוֹךְ בְּאֵרֶךָ.
טזיָפוּצוּ מַעְיְנֹתֶיךָ חוּצָה; בָּרְחֹבוֹת פַּלְגֵי מָיִם.
יזיִהְיוּ לְךָ לְבַדֶּךָ; וְאֵין לְזָרִים אִתָּךְ.
יחיְהִי מְקוֹרְךָ בָרוּךְ; וּשְׂמַח מֵאֵשֶׁת נְעוּרֶךָ.
יטאַיֶּלֶת אֲהָבִים וְיַעֲלַת חֵן: דַּדֶּיהָ יְרַוֻּךָ בְכָל עֵת; בְּאַהֲבָתָהּ תִּשְׁגֶּה תָמִיד.
כוְלָמָּה תִשְׁגֶּה בְנִי בְזָרָה; וּתְחַבֵּק חֵק נָכְרִיָּה.
כאכִּי נֹכַח עֵינֵי יהוה דַּרְכֵי אִישׁ; וְכָל מַעְגְּלֹתָיו מְפַלֵּס.
כבעֲווֹנֹתָיו יִלְכְּדֻנוֹ אֶת הָרָשָׁע; וּבְחַבְלֵי חַטָּאתוֹ יִתָּמֵךְ.
כגהוּא יָמוּת בְּאֵין מוּסָר; וּבְרֹב אִוַּלְתּוֹ יִשְׁגֶּה.
