1“Woe to them that are at ease in Tzion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Shomron, the notable men of the first of the nations, to whom Beit Yisra’el comes! 2Pass unto Khalneh, and see, and from there go to Khamat the great; then go down to Gat P’lishtim; are they better than these kingdoms? Or is their border greater than your border? 3You that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; 4that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; 5that thrum on the nevel, that devise for themselves instruments of music, like David; 6that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments; but they are not grieved for the hurt of Yosef. 7Therefore now shall they go captive at the head of them that go captive, and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away. 8Adonai יהוה has sworn by Himself, says יהוה Elohei Tzeva’ot, ‘I abhor the pride of Ya’akov, and hate his palaces; and I will deliver up the city with all that is therein. 9And it shall come to pass, if there remains ten men in one house, that they shall die. 10And when a man’s uncle shall take him up, even he that burns him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is in the innermost parts of the house, ‘Is there yet any with you?’ And he shall say, ‘No’; then shall he say, ‘Hold your peace; for we must not make mention of the Name of יהוה .’ For11, behold, יהוה commands, and the great house shall be smitten into splinters, and the little house into chips. 12Do horses run upon the rocks? Does one plow there with oxen, that you have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of tzedaka into wormwood? 13You that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say, ‘Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?’ 14For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O Beit Yisra’el, says יהוה Elohei HaTzeva’ot; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Khamat unto the Brook of HaAravah.
אהוֹי הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּים בְּצִיּוֹן וְהַבֹּטְחִים בְּהַר שֹׁמְרוֹן; נְקֻבֵי רֵאשִׁית הַגּוֹיִם וּבָאוּ לָהֶם בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל. בעִבְרוּ כַלְנֵה וּרְאוּ וּלְכוּ מִשָּׁם חֲמַת רַבָּה; וּרְדוּ גַת פְּלִשְׁתִּים הֲטוֹבִים מִן הַמַּמְלָכוֹת הָאֵלֶּה אִם רַב גְּבוּלָם מִגְּבֻלְכֶם. גהַמְנַדִּים לְיוֹם רָע; וַתַּגִּשׁוּן שֶׁבֶת חָמָס. דהַשֹּׁכְבִים עַל מִטּוֹת שֵׁן וּסְרֻחִים עַל עַרְשׂוֹתָם; וְאֹכְלִים כָּרִים מִצֹּאן וַעֲגָלִים מִתּוֹךְ מַרְבֵּק. ההַפֹּרְטִים עַל פִּי הַנָּבֶל כְּדָוִיד חָשְׁבוּ לָהֶם כְּלֵי שִׁיר. והַשֹּׁתִים בְּמִזְרְקֵי יַיִן וְרֵאשִׁית שְׁמָנִים יִמְשָׁחוּ; וְלֹא נֶחְלוּ עַל שֵׁבֶר יוֹסֵף. זלָכֵן עַתָּה יִגְלוּ בְּרֹאשׁ גֹּלִים; וְסָר מִרְזַח סְרוּחִים. חנִשְׁבַּע אֲדֹנָי יהוה בְּנַפְשׁוֹ נְאֻם יהוה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת מְתָאֵב אָנֹכִי אֶת גְּאוֹן יַעֲקֹב וְאַרְמְנֹתָיו שָׂנֵאתִי; וְהִסְגַּרְתִּי עִיר וּמְלֹאָהּ. טוְהָיָה אִם יִוָּתְרוּ עֲשָׂרָה אֲנָשִׁים בְּבַיִת אֶחָד וָמֵתוּ. יוּנְשָׂאוֹ דּוֹדוֹ וּמְסָרְפוֹ לְהוֹצִיא עֲצָמִים מִן הַבַּיִת וְאָמַר לַאֲשֶׁר בְּיַרְכְּתֵי הַבַּיִת הַעוֹד עִמָּךְ וְאָמַר אָפֶס; וְאָמַר הָס כִּי לֹא לְהַזְכִּיר בְּשֵׁם יהוה . יאכִּי הִנֵּה יהוה מְצַוֶּה וְהִכָּה הַבַּיִת הַגָּדוֹל רְסִיסִים; וְהַבַּיִת הַקָּטֹן בְּקִעִים. יבהַיְרֻצוּן בַּסֶּלַע סוּסִים אִם יַחֲרוֹשׁ בַּבְּקָרִים: כִּי הֲפַכְתֶּם לְרֹאשׁ מִשְׁפָּט וּפְרִי צְדָקָה לְלַעֲנָה. יגהַשְּׂמֵחִים לְלֹא דָבָר: הָאֹמְרִים הֲלוֹא בְחָזְקֵנוּ לָקַחְנוּ לָנוּ קַרְנָיִם. ידכִּי הִנְנִי מֵקִים עֲלֵיכֶם בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל נְאֻם יהוה אֱלֹהֵי הַצְּבָאוֹת גּוֹי; וְלָחֲצוּ אֶתְכֶם מִלְּבוֹא חֲמָת עַד נַחַל הָעֲרָבָה.
