1“Efrayim surrounds Me about with lies, and Beit Yisra’el with deceit; and Yehudah is yet wayward towards Elohim, and towards K’doshim, who is faithful. 2Efrayim strives after wind, and follows after the east wind; all the day he multiplies lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Ashur, and oil is carried into Mitzrayim. 3 יהוה has also a controversy with Yehudah, and will punish Ya’akov according to his ways, according to his doings will He recompense him. 4In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and by his strength he strove with Elohim; 5So he strove with a Malakh, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him; at Beit El he would find him, and there he would speak with us; 6But יהוה , Elohei Tzeva’ot, יהוה is His Name. 7Therefore turn to your Elohim; keep compassion and justice, and wait for your Elohim continually. 8As for the trafficker, the balances of deceit are in his hand. He loves to oppress. 9And Efrayim said, ‘Surely I am become rich, I have found me wealth; in all my labors they shall find in me no iniquity that was sin.’ 10But I am יהוה your Elohim from the land of Mitzrayim; I will yet again make you to dwell in tents, as in the days of the Mo’ed. 11I have also spoken unto the Nevi’im, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the Nevi’im have I used similitudes. 12If Gilad is given to iniquity becoming altogether vanity, in Gilgal they sacrifice unto bullocks; yes, their altars shall be as heaps in the furrows of the field. VaYetzei 13And Ya’akov fled into the field of Aram, and Yisra’el served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep. 14And by a Navi יהוה brought Yisra’el up out of Mitzrayim, and by a Navi was he kept. 15Efrayim has provoked most bitterly; therefore shall his blood be cast upon him, and his reproach shall his Adon return unto him.
אסְבָבֻנִי בְכַחַשׁ אֶפְרַיִם וּבְמִרְמָה בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל; וִיהוּדָה עֹד רָד עִם אֵל וְעִם קְדוֹשִׁים נֶאֱמָן. באֶפְרַיִם רֹעֶה רוּחַ וְרֹדֵף קָדִים כָּל הַיּוֹם כָּזָב וָשֹׁד יַרְבֶּה; וּבְרִית עִם אַשּׁוּר יִכְרֹתוּ וְשֶׁמֶן לְמִצְרַיִם יוּבָל. גוְרִיב לַיהוה עִם יְהוּדָה; וְלִפְקֹד עַל יַעֲקֹב כִּדְרָכָיו כְּמַעֲלָלָיו יָשִׁיב לוֹ. דבַּבֶּטֶן עָקַב אֶת אָחִיו; וּבְאוֹנוֹ שָׂרָה אֶת אֱלֹהִים. הוַיָּשַׂר אֶל מַלְאָךְ וַיֻּכָל בָּכָה וַיִּתְחַנֶּן לוֹ; בֵּית אֵל יִמְצָאֶנּוּ וְשָׁם יְדַבֵּר עִמָּנוּ. ווַיהוה אֱלֹהֵי הַצְּבָאוֹת יהוה זִכְרוֹ. זוְאַתָּה בֵּאלֹהֶיךָ תָשׁוּב; חֶסֶד וּמִשְׁפָּט שְׁמֹר וְקַוֵּה אֶל אֱלֹהֶיךָ תָּמִיד. חכְּנַעַן בְּיָדוֹ מֹאזְנֵי מִרְמָה לַעֲשֹׁק אָהֵב. טוַיֹּאמֶר אֶפְרַיִם אַךְ עָשַׁרְתִּי מָצָאתִי אוֹן לִי; כָּל יְגִיעַי לֹא יִמְצְאוּ לִי עָוֹן אֲשֶׁר חֵטְא. יוְאָנֹכִי יהוה אֱלֹהֶיךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם ; עֹד אוֹשִׁיבְךָ בָאֳהָלִים כִּימֵי מוֹעֵד. יאוְדִבַּרְתִּי עַל הַנְּבִיאִים וְאָנֹכִי חָזוֹן הִרְבֵּיתִי; וּבְיַד הַנְּבִיאִים אֲדַמֶּה. יבאִם גִּלְעָד אָוֶן אַךְ שָׁוְא הָיוּ בַּגִּלְגָּל שְׁוָרִים זִבֵּחוּ; גַּם מִזְבְּחוֹתָם כְּגַלִּים עַל תַּלְמֵי שָׂדָי. יגוַיִּבְרַח יַעֲקֹב שְׂדֵה אֲרָם; וַיַּעֲבֹד יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאִשָּׁה וּבְאִשָּׁה שָׁמָר. ידוּבְנָבִיא הֶעֱלָה יהוה אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָיִם; וּבְנָבִיא נִשְׁמָר. טוהִכְעִיס אֶפְרַיִם תַּמְרוּרִים; וְדָמָיו עָלָיו יִטּוֹשׁ וְחֶרְפָּתוֹ יָשִׁיב לוֹ אֲדֹנָיו.
