1“Hear the D’var יהוה , B’nei Yisra’el! For יהוה has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor compassion, nor knowledge of Elohim in the land. 2Swearing and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery! They break all bounds, and blood touches blood. 3Therefore does the land mourn, and every one that dwells therein does languish, with the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven; yes, the fishes of the sea also are taken away. 4Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove; for your people are as they that strive with the Kohen. 5Therefore shall you stumble in the day, and the prophet also shall stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother. 6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no Kohen to Me; seeing you have forgotten the Torah of your Elohim, I also will forget your children. 7The more they were increased, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame. 8They feed on the sin of My people, and set their heart on their iniquity. 9And it is like people, like priest; and I will punish him for his ways, and will recompense him his doings. 10And they shall eat, and not have enough, they shall commit harlotry, and shall not increase; because they have left off to take heed to יהוה . Harlotry11, wine, and new wine take away the heart. 12My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declares unto them; for the spirit of harlotry has caused them to err, and they have gone astray from under their Elohim. 13They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and offer upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because the shadow thereof is good; therefore your daughters commit harlotry, and your daughters-in-law commit adultery. 14I will not punish your daughters when they commit harlotry, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery; for they themselves consort with lewd women, and they sacrifice with harlots; and the people that is without understanding is distraught. 15Though you, Yisra’el, play the harlot, yet let not Yehudah become guilty; and come not unto Gilgal, neither go up to Beit Aven, nor swear, ‘As יהוה lives.’ 16For Yisra’el is stubborn like a stubborn heifer; now shall יהוה feed them as a lamb in a large place? 17Efrayim is joined to idols; let him alone. 18When their carousing is over, they take to harlotry; her rulers deeply love dishonor. 19The wind has bound her up in her skirts; and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.”
אשִׁמְעוּ דְבַר יהוה בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: כִּי רִיב לַיהוה עִם יוֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ כִּי אֵין אֱמֶת וְאֵין חֶסֶד וְאֵין דַּעַת אֱלֹהִים בָּאָרֶץ. באָלֹה וְכַחֵשׁ וְרָצֹחַ וְגָנֹב וְנָאֹף; פָּרָצוּ וְדָמִים בְּדָמִים נָגָעוּ. געַל כֵּן תֶּאֱבַל הָאָרֶץ וְאֻמְלַל כָּל יוֹשֵׁב בָּהּ בְּחַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה וּבְעוֹף הַשָּׁמָיִם; וְגַם דְּגֵי הַיָּם יֵאָסֵפוּ. דאַךְ אִישׁ אַל יָרֵב וְאַל יוֹכַח אִישׁ; וְעַמְּךָ כִּמְרִיבֵי כֹהֵן. הוְכָשַׁלְתָּ הַיּוֹם וְכָשַׁל גַּם נָבִיא עִמְּךָ לָיְלָה; וְדָמִיתִי אִמֶּךָ. ונִדְמוּ עַמִּי מִבְּלִי הַדָּעַת: כִּי אַתָּה הַדַּעַת מָאַסְתָּ ואמאסאך (וְאֶמְאָסְךָ) מִכַּהֵן לִי וַתִּשְׁכַּח תּוֹרַת אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶשְׁכַּח בָּנֶיךָ גַּם אָנִי. זכְּרֻבָּם כֵּן חָטְאוּ לִי; כְּבוֹדָם בְּקָלוֹן אָמִיר. חחַטַּאת עַמִּי יֹאכֵלוּ; וְאֶל עֲוֹנָם יִשְׂאוּ נַפְשׁוֹ. טוְהָיָה כָעָם כַּכֹּהֵן; וּפָקַדְתִּי עָלָיו דְּרָכָיו וּמַעֲלָלָיו אָשִׁיב לוֹ. יוְאָכְלוּ וְלֹא יִשְׂבָּעוּ הִזְנוּ וְלֹא יִפְרֹצוּ: כִּי אֶת יהוה עָזְבוּ לִשְׁמֹר. יאזְנוּת וְיַיִן וְתִירוֹשׁ יִקַּח לֵב. יבעַמִּי בְּעֵצוֹ יִשְׁאָל וּמַקְלוֹ יַגִּיד לוֹ: כִּי רוּחַ זְנוּנִים הִתְעָה וַיִּזְנוּ מִתַּחַת אֱלֹהֵיהֶם. יגעַל רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים יְזַבֵּחוּ וְעַל הַגְּבָעוֹת יְקַטֵּרוּ תַּחַת אַלּוֹן וְלִבְנֶה וְאֵלָה כִּי טוֹב צִלָּהּ; עַל כֵּן תִּזְנֶינָה בְּנוֹתֵיכֶם וְכַלּוֹתֵיכֶם תְּנָאַפְנָה. ידלֹא אֶפְקוֹד עַל בְּנוֹתֵיכֶם כִּי תִזְנֶינָה וְעַל כַּלּוֹתֵיכֶם כִּי תְנָאַפְנָה כִּי הֵם עִם הַזֹּנוֹת יְפָרֵדוּ וְעִם הַקְּדֵשׁוֹת יְזַבֵּחוּ; וְעָם לֹא יָבִין יִלָּבֵט. טואִם זֹנֶה אַתָּה יִשְׂרָאֵל אַל יֶאְשַׁם יְהוּדָה ; וְאַל תָּבֹאוּ הַגִּלְגָּל וְאַל תַּעֲלוּ בֵּית אָוֶן וְאַל תִּשָּׁבְעוּ חַי יהוה . טזכִּי כְּפָרָה סֹרֵרָה סָרַר יִשְׂרָאֵל; עַתָּה יִרְעֵם יהוה כְּכֶבֶשׂ בַּמֶּרְחָב. יזחֲבוּר עֲצַבִּים אֶפְרָיִם הַנַּח לוֹ. יחסָר סָבְאָם; הַזְנֵה הִזְנוּ אָהֲבוּ הֵבוּ קָלוֹן מָגִנֶּיהָ. יטצָרַר רוּחַ אוֹתָהּ בִּכְנָפֶיהָ; וְיֵבֹשׁוּ מִזִּבְחוֹתָם.
