1“Rejoice not, O Yisra’el, unto exultation like the peoples, for you have gone astray from your Elohim, you have loved a harlot’s hire upon every grain-floor. 2The threshing-floor and the wine-press shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail her. 3They shall not dwell in the land of יהוה ; but Efrayim shall return to Mitzrayim, and they shall eat unclean food in Ashur. 4They shall not pour out wine-offerings to יהוה , neither shall they be pleasing unto Him; their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners, all that eat thereof shall be polluted; for their bread shall be for their appetite, it shall not come into Beit יהוה . What5 will you do in the day of the Mo’ed, and in the day of Khag יהוה ? For6, lo, they are gone away from destruction, yet Mitzrayim shall gather them up, Mof shall bury them; their precious treasures of silver, nettles shall possess them, thorns shall be in their tents. 7The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come, Yisra’el shall know it. The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is mad! For the multitude of your iniquity, the enmity is great. 8Efrayim is a watchman with my Elohim; as for the prophet, a fowler’s snare is in all his ways, and enmity in the house of his Elohim. 9They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Giv’ah; He will remember their iniquity, He will punish their sins.”
10“I found Yisra’el like grapes in the wilderness, I saw your fathers as the first-ripe in the fig tree at her first season; but so soon as they came to Ba’al Pe’or, they separated themselves unto the shameful thing, and became detestable like that which they loved. 11As for Efrayim, their glory shall fly away like a bird; there shall be no birth, and none with child, and no conception. 12Yes, though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there will not be a man left; yes, woe also to them when I depart from them! 13Efrayim, like as I have seen Tzor, is planted in a pleasant place; but Efrayim shall bring forth his children to the slayer. 14Give them, O יהוה , whatsoever You will give; give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. 15All their wickedness is in Gilgal, for there I hated them; because of the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of My house; I will love them no more, all their princes are rebellious. 16Efrayim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit; yes, though they bring forth, yet will I slay the beloved fruit of their womb. 17My Elohim will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto Him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.”
אאַל תִּשְׂמַח יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל גִּיל כָּעַמִּים כִּי זָנִיתָ מֵעַל אֱלֹהֶיךָ; אָהַבְתָּ אֶתְנָן עַל כָּל גָּרְנוֹת דָּגָן. בגֹּרֶן וָיֶקֶב לֹא יִרְעֵם; וְתִירוֹשׁ יְכַחֶשׁ בָּהּ. גלֹא יֵשְׁבוּ בְּאֶרֶץ יהוה ; וְשָׁב אֶפְרַיִם מִצְרַיִם וּבְאַשּׁוּר טָמֵא יֹאכֵלוּ. דלֹא יִסְּכוּ לַיהוה יַיִן וְלֹא יֶעֶרְבוּ לוֹ זִבְחֵיהֶם כְּלֶחֶם אוֹנִים לָהֶם כָּל אֹכְלָיו יִטַּמָּאוּ: כִּי לַחְמָם לְנַפְשָׁם לֹא יָבוֹא בֵּית יהוה . המַה תַּעֲשׂוּ לְיוֹם מוֹעֵד וּלְיוֹם חַג יהוה . וכִּי הִנֵּה הָלְכוּ מִשֹּׁד מִצְרַיִם תְּקַבְּצֵם מֹף תְּקַבְּרֵם; מַחְמַד לְכַסְפָּם קִמּוֹשׂ יִירָשֵׁם חוֹחַ בְּאָהֳלֵיהֶם. זבָּאוּ יְמֵי הַפְּקֻדָּה בָּאוּ יְמֵי הַשִּׁלֻּם יֵדְעוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל; אֱוִיל הַנָּבִיא מְשֻׁגָּע אִישׁ הָרוּחַ עַל רֹב עֲוֹנְךָ וְרַבָּה מַשְׂטֵמָה. חצֹפֶה אֶפְרַיִם עִם אֱלֹהָי; נָבִיא פַּח יָקוֹשׁ עַל כָּל דְּרָכָיו מַשְׂטֵמָה בְּבֵית אֱלֹהָיו. טהֶעְמִיקוּ שִׁחֵתוּ כִּימֵי הַגִּבְעָה; יִזְכּוֹר עֲוֹנָם יִפְקוֹד חַטֹּאותָם.
יכַּעֲנָבִים בַּמִּדְבָּר מָצָאתִי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּבִכּוּרָה בִתְאֵנָה בְּרֵאשִׁיתָהּ רָאִיתִי אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם; הֵמָּה בָּאוּ בַעַל פְּעוֹר וַיִּנָּזְרוּ לַבֹּשֶׁת וַיִּהְיוּ שִׁקּוּצִים כְּאָהֳבָם. יאאֶפְרַיִם כָּעוֹף יִתְעוֹפֵף כְּבוֹדָם; מִלֵּדָה וּמִבֶּטֶן וּמֵהֵרָיוֹן. יבכִּי אִם יְגַדְּלוּ אֶת בְּנֵיהֶם וְשִׁכַּלְתִּים מֵאָדָם: כִּי גַם אוֹי לָהֶם בְּשׂוּרִי מֵהֶם. יגאֶפְרַיִם כַּאֲשֶׁר רָאִיתִי לְצוֹר שְׁתוּלָה בְנָוֶה; וְאֶפְרַיִם לְהוֹצִיא אֶל הֹרֵג בָּנָיו. ידתֵּן לָהֶם יהוה מַה תִּתֵּן; תֵּן לָהֶם רֶחֶם מַשְׁכִּיל וְשָׁדַיִם צֹמְקִים. טוכָּל רָעָתָם בַּגִּלְגָּל כִּי שָׁם שְׂנֵאתִים עַל רֹעַ מַעַלְלֵיהֶם מִבֵּיתִי אֲגָרְשֵׁם; לֹא אוֹסֵף אַהֲבָתָם כָּל שָׂרֵיהֶם סֹרְרִים. טזהֻכָּה אֶפְרַיִם שָׁרְשָׁם יָבֵשׁ פְּרִי בלי (בַל) יַעֲשׂוּן; גַּם כִּי יֵלֵדוּן וְהֵמַתִּי מַחֲמַדֵּי בִטְנָם. יזיִמְאָסֵם אֱלֹהַי כִּי לֹא שָׁמְעוּ לוֹ; וְיִהְיוּ נֹדְדִים בַּגּוֹיִם.
