Melakhim Alef 15 – מלכים א פרק טו

1Now in the eighteenth year of king Yaravam Ben Nevat began Aviyam to reign over Yehudah. 2Three years he reigned in Yerushalayim; and his mother’s name was Ma’akhah Bat Avishalom. 3And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not whole with  יהוה  his Elohim, as the heart of David his father. 4Nevertheless for David’s sake did  יהוה  his Elohim give him a lamp in Yerushalayim, to set up his son after him, and to establish Yerushalayim; 5because David did that which was right in the eyes of  יהוה , and turned not aside from any thing that He commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uri-Yah HaKhiti. 6Now there was war between Rekhavam and Yaravam all the days of his life. 7And the rest of the acts of Aviyam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the Melakhim of Yehudah? And there was war between Aviyam and Yaravam. 8And Aviyam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

9And in the twentieth year of Yaravam king of Yisra’el began Asa to reign over Yehudah. 10And forty-one years he reigned in Yerushalayim; and his mother’s name was Ma’akhah Bat Avishalom. 11And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of  יהוה , as did David his father. 12And he put away the temple prostitutes out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. 13And also Ma’akhah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron. 14But the high places were not taken away; nevertheless the heart of Asa was whole with  יהוה  all his days. 15And he brought into Beit  יהוה  the things that his father had hallowed, and the things that he himself had hallowed, silver, and gold, and vessels. 16And there was war between Asa and Ba’asah king of Yisra’el all their days. 17And Ba’asah king of Yisra’el went up against Yehudah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa Melekh Yehudah. 18Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of Beit  יהוה , and the treasures of the house of HaMelekh, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and Melekh Asa sent them to Ben Hadad Ben Tavrimon Ben Khezion, king of Aram, that dwelt at Damesek, saying, 19“There is a brit between me and you, between my father and your father; behold, I have sent unto you a present of silver and gold; go, break your league with Ba’asah king of Yisra’el, that he may depart from me.” 20And Ben Hadad hearkened unto Melekh Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Yisra’el, and smote Iyon, and Dan, and Avel Beit Ma’akhah, and all Khinerot, with all the land of Naftali. 21And it came to pass, when Ba’asah heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirtzah. 22Then Melekh Asa made a proclamation unto all Yehudah; none was exempted; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Ba’asah had builded; and Melekh Asa built therewith Gevah of Binyamin, and Mitzpah. 23Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the Melakhim of Yehudah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet. 24And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Yehoshafat his son reigned in his stead.

25And Nadav Ben Yaravam began to reign over Yisra’el in the second year of Asa Melekh Yehudah, and he reigned over Yisra’el two years. 26And he did that which was evil in the sight of  יהוה , and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Yisra’el to sin. 27And Ba’asah Ben Akhi-Yah, of the house of Isakhar, conspired against him; and Ba’asah smote him at Gib’ton, which belonged to the P’lishtim; for Nadav and all Yisra’el were laying siege to Gib’ton. 28Even in the third year of Asa Melekh Yehudah did Ba’asah slay him, and reigned in his stead. 29And it came to pass that, as soon as he was king, he smote all the house of Yaravam; he left not to Yaravam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him; according unto the D’var  יהוה ,  which He spoke by the hand of His servant Akhi-Yah the Shilonit;  30forthe sins of Yaravam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Yisra’el to sin; because of his provocation wherewith he provoked  יהוה  Elohei Yisra’el. 31Now the rest of the acts of Nadav and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra’el? 32And there was war between Asa and Ba’asah king of Yisra’el all their days.

33In the third year of Asa Melekh Yehudah began Ba’asah Ben Akhi-Yah to reign over all Yisra’el in Tirtzah, and he reigned twenty-four years. 34And he did that which was evil in the sight of  יהוה , and walked in the way of Yaravam, and in his sin wherewith he made Yisra’el to sin.
