1But you, Beit Lekhem Efratah, which are little to be among the thousands of Yehudah, out of you shall one come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Yisra’el; whose goings forth are from of old, from ancient days. 2Therefore will He give them up, until the time that she who travails has brought forth; then the remainder of his brethren shall return with B’nei Yisra’el. 3And he shall stand, and shall feed his flock in the strength of יהוה , in the majesty of the Name of יהוה his Elohim; and they shall abide, for then shall he be great unto the ends of the earth. 4And this shall be shalom, ‘when Ashur shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes among men. 5And they shall waste the land of Ashur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the keen-edged sword; and he shall deliver us from Ashur, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our border.'”
Balak 6“And the remnant of Ya’akov shall be in the midst of many peoples, as dew from יהוה , as showers upon the grass, that are not looked for from man, nor awaited at the hands of the sons of men.”
7“And the remnant of Ya’akov shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver. 8Let Your hand be lifted up above Your adversaries, and let all Your enemies be cut off. 9And it shall come to pass in that day, says יהוה , that I will cut off your horses out of the midst of you, and will destroy your chariots; 10and I will cut off the cities of your land, and will throw down all your strongholds; 11and I will cut off witchcrafts out of your hand; and you shall have no more soothsayers. 12And I will cut off your graven images and your pillars out of the midst of you; and you shall no more worship the work of your hands. 13And I will pluck up your Asherim out of the midst of you; and I will destroy your enemies. 14And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations, because they hearkened not.”
אוְאַתָּה בֵּית לֶחֶם אֶפְרָתָה צָעִיר לִהְיוֹת בְּאַלְפֵי יְהוּדָה מִמְּךָ לִי יֵצֵא לִהְיוֹת מוֹשֵׁל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל; וּמוֹצָאֹתָיו מִקֶּדֶם מִימֵי עוֹלָם. בלָכֵן יִתְּנֵם עַד עֵת יוֹלֵדָה יָלָדָה; וְיֶתֶר אֶחָיו יְשׁוּבוּן עַל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. גוְעָמַד וְרָעָה בְּעֹז יהוה בִּגְאוֹן שֵׁם יהוה אֱלֹהָיו; וְיָשָׁבוּ כִּי עַתָּה יִגְדַּל עַד אַפְסֵי אָרֶץ. דוְהָיָה זֶה שָׁלוֹם; אַשּׁוּר כִּי יָבוֹא בְאַרְצֵנוּ וְכִי יִדְרֹךְ בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵינוּ וַהֲקֵמֹנוּ עָלָיו שִׁבְעָה רֹעִים וּשְׁמֹנָה נְסִיכֵי אָדָם. הוְרָעוּ אֶת אֶרֶץ אַשּׁוּר בַּחֶרֶב וְאֶת אֶרֶץ נִמְרֹד בִּפְתָחֶיהָ; וְהִצִּיל מֵאַשּׁוּר כִּי יָבוֹא בְאַרְצֵנוּ וְכִי יִדְרֹךְ בִּגְבוּלֵנוּ.
ווְהָיָה שְׁאֵרִית יַעֲקֹב בְּקֶרֶב עַמִּים רַבִּים כְּטַל מֵאֵת יהוה כִּרְבִיבִים עֲלֵי עֵשֶׂב אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְקַוֶּה לְאִישׁ וְלֹא יְיַחֵל לִבְנֵי אָדָם.
זוְהָיָה שְׁאֵרִית יַעֲקֹב בַּגּוֹיִם בְּקֶרֶב עַמִּים רַבִּים כְּאַרְיֵה בְּבַהֲמוֹת יַעַר כִּכְפִיר בְּעֶדְרֵי צֹאן אֲשֶׁר אִם עָבַר וְרָמַס וְטָרַף וְאֵין מַצִּיל. חתָּרֹם יָדְךָ עַל צָרֶיךָ; וְכָל אֹיְבֶיךָ יִכָּרֵתוּ. טוְהָיָה בַיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאֻם יהוה וְהִכְרַתִּי סוּסֶיךָ מִקִּרְבֶּךָ; וְהַאֲבַדְתִּי מַרְכְּבֹתֶיךָ. יוְהִכְרַתִּי עָרֵי אַרְצֶךָ; וְהָרַסְתִּי כָּל מִבְצָרֶיךָ. יאוְהִכְרַתִּי כְשָׁפִים מִיָּדֶךָ; וּמְעוֹנְנִים לֹא יִהְיוּ לָךְ. יבוְהִכְרַתִּי פְסִילֶיךָ וּמַצֵּבוֹתֶיךָ מִקִּרְבֶּךָ; וְלֹא תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה עוֹד לְמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֶיךָ. יגוְנָתַשְׁתִּי אֲשֵׁירֶיךָ מִקִּרְבֶּךָ; וְהִשְׁמַדְתִּי עָרֶיךָ. ידוְעָשִׂיתִי בְּאַף וּבְחֵמָה נָקָם אֶת הַגּוֹיִם: אֲשֶׁר לֹא שָׁמֵעוּ.
