1Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levi’im were appointed, 2that I gave my brother Khanani, and Khanan-Yah the governor of the castle, charge over Yerushalayim; for he was a faithful man, and feared Elohim above many. 3And I said unto them, “Let not the gates of Yerushalayim be opened until the sun is hot; and while they stand on guard, let them shut the doors, and you bar them; and let watches be appointed of the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.” 4Now the city was wide and large; but the people were few therein, and the houses were not built. 5And my Elohim put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of them that came up at the first, and I found written therein:
6These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity of those that had been carried away, whom Nevukhadnetzar the king of Bavel had carried away, and that returned unto Yerushalayim and to Yehudah, every one unto his city; 7who came with Zerubavel, Yeshua, Nekhem-Yah, Azar-Yah, Ra’am-Yah, Nakhamani, Mordakhai, Bilshan, Misperet, Bigvai, Nekhum, Ba’anah. The number of the men of the people of Yisra’el: 8B’nei Parosh, two thousand a hundred and seventy-two. 9B’nei Shefat-Yah, three hundred seventy-two. 10B’nei Arah, six hundred fifty-two. 11B’nei Pakhat Mo’av, of B’nei Yeshua and Yo’av, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen. 12B’nei Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty-four. 13B’nei Zatu, eight hundred and forty-five. 14B’nei Zakai, seven hundred and sixty. 15B’nei Binui, six hundred and forty-eight. 16B’nei Bevai, six hundred and twenty-eight. 17B’nei Azgad, two thousand three hundred and twenty-two. 18B’nei My Adonkam, six hundred and sixty-seven. 19B’nei Bigvai, two thousand and sixty-seven. 20B’nei Adin, six hundred and fifty-five. 21B’nei Ater, of Khizki-Yah, ninety-eight. 22B’nei Khashum, three hundred and twenty-eight. 23B’nei Betzai, three hundred and twenty-four. 24B’nei Kharif, a hundred and twelve. 25B’nei Givon, ninety-five. 26The men of Beit Lekhem and Netofah, a hundred and eighty-eight. 27The men of Anatot, a hundred and twenty-eight. 28The men of Beit Azmavet, forty-two. 29The men of Kiryat Ye’arim, Kefirah, and B’Eirot, seven hundred and forty-three. 30The men of Ramah and Gavah, six hundred and twenty-one. 31The men of Mikhmas, a hundred and twenty-two. 32The men of Beit El and Ai, a hundred and twenty-three. 33The men of Nevo Akher, fifty-two. 34B’nei Elam Akher, a thousand two hundred and fifty-four. 35B’nei Kharim, three hundred and twenty. 36B’nei Yerekho, three hundred and forty-five. 37B’nei Lod, Khadid, and Onoh, seven hundred and twenty-one. 38B’nei Sena’ah, three thousand nine hundred and thirty.
39The Kohanim: B’nei Yeda-Yah, of the house of Yeshua, nine hundred and seventy-three. 40B’nei Imer, a thousand and fifty-two. 41B’nei Pash’khur, a thousand two hundred and forty-seven. 42B’nei Kharim, a thousand and seventeen.
43The Levi’im: B’nei Yeshua, of Kadmi’el, of B’nei Hodeiah, seventy-four. 44The singers: B’nei Asaf, a hundred and forty-eight. 45The porters: B’nei Shalum, B’nei Ater, B’nei Talmon, B’nei Akuv, B’nei Khatitah, B’nei Shovai, a hundred and thirty-eight. 46The Netinim: B’nei Tzikha, B’nei Khasufah, B’nei Taba’ot; 47B’nei Keros, B’nei Sia, B’nei Padon; 48B’nei Levanah, B’nei Hagaba, B’nei Shalmai; 49B’nei Khanan, B’nei Gidel, B’nei Gakhar; 50B’nei Re’a-Yah, B’nei Retzin, B’nei Nekoda; 51B’nei Gazam, B’nei Uzah, B’nei Pase’akh; 52B’nei Besai, B’nei Me’unim, B’nei Nefishesim; 53B’nei Bakbuk, B’nei Khakufah, B’nei Kharkhur; 54B’nei Batzlit, B’nei Mekhidah, B’nei Kharshah; 55B’nei Barkos, B’nei Sisera, B’nei Temah; 56B’nei Netzi’akh, B’nei Khatifah. 57The servants of B’nei Shlomo: B’nei Sotai, B’nei Soferet, B’nei Perida; 58B’nei Yala, B’nei Darkon, B’nei Gidel; 59B’nei Shefat-Yah, B’nei Khatil, B’nei Pokheret HaTzevayim, B’nei Amon. 60All the Netinim, and the servants of B’nei Shlomo, were three hundred and ninety-two.
61And these were they that went up from Tel Melakh, Tel Kharshah, Keruv, Adon, and Imer; but they could not tell their fathers’ houses, nor their seed, whether they were of Yisra’el: 62B’nei Dela-Yah, B’nei Tov-Yah, B’nei Nekoda, six hundred and forty-two. 63And of the Kohanim: B’nei Khava-Yah, B’nei Hakotz, B’nei Barzilai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzilai the Giladi, and was called after their name. 64These sought their register, that is, the genealogy, but it was not found; therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood. 65And the Tirshatah said unto them, that they should not eat of the Kadosh HaKadashim, till there stood up a Kohen with Urim and Tumim. 66The whole congregation together was fort-two thousand and three hundred and sixty, 67beside their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred and forty-five singing men and singing women. 68Their camels, four hundred and thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty. 69And some from among the heads of the fathers’ houses gave unto the work. The Tirshatah gave to the treasury a thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty tunics for kohanim. 70And some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver. 71And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty-seven tunics for kohanim.
72So the Kohanim, and the Levi’im, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Netinim, and all Yisra’el, dwelt in their cities. And the seventh khodesh came, and B’nei Yisra’el were in their cities.
אוַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר נִבְנְתָה הַחוֹמָה וָאַעֲמִיד הַדְּלָתוֹת; וַיִּפָּקְדוּ הַשּׁוֹעֲרִים וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִים וְהַלְוִיִּם. בוָאֲצַוֶּה אֶת חֲנָנִי אָחִי וְאֶת חֲנַנְיָה שַׂר הַבִּירָה עַל יְרוּשָׁלִָם: כִּי הוּא כְּאִישׁ אֱמֶת וְיָרֵא אֶת הָאֱלֹהִים מֵרַבִּים. גויאמר (וָאֹמַר) לָהֶם לֹא יִפָּתְחוּ שַׁעֲרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם עַד חֹם הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ וְעַד הֵם עֹמְדִים יָגִיפוּ הַדְּלָתוֹת וֶאֱחֹזוּ; וְהַעֲמֵיד מִשְׁמְרוֹת יֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם אִישׁ בְּמִשְׁמָרוֹ וְאִישׁ נֶגֶד בֵּיתוֹ. דוְהָעִיר רַחֲבַת יָדַיִם וּגְדֹלָה וְהָעָם מְעַט בְּתוֹכָהּ; וְאֵין בָּתִּים בְּנוּיִם. הוַיִּתֵּן אֱלֹהַי אֶל לִבִּי וָאֶקְבְּצָה אֶת הַחֹרִים וְאֶת הַסְּגָנִים וְאֶת הָעָם לְהִתְיַחֵשׂ; וָאֶמְצָא סֵפֶר הַיַּחַשׂ הָעוֹלִים בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה וָאֶמְצָא כָּתוּב בּוֹ.
ואֵלֶּה בְּנֵי הַמְּדִינָה הָעֹלִים מִשְּׁבִי הַגּוֹלָה אֲשֶׁר הֶגְלָה נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל; וַיָּשׁוּבוּ לִירוּשָׁלִַם וְלִיהוּדָה אִישׁ לְעִירוֹ. זהַבָּאִים עִם זְרֻבָּבֶל יֵשׁוּעַ נְחֶמְיָה עֲזַרְיָה רַעַמְיָה נַחֲמָנִי מָרְדֳּכַי בִּלְשָׁן מִסְפֶּרֶת בִּגְוַי נְחוּם בַּעֲנָה: מִסְפַּר אַנְשֵׁי עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל. חבְּנֵי פַרְעֹשׁ אַלְפַּיִם מֵאָה וְשִׁבְעִים וּשְׁנָיִם. טבְּנֵי שְׁפַטְיָה שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת שִׁבְעִים וּשְׁנָיִם. יבְּנֵי אָרַח שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁנָיִם. יאבְּנֵי פַחַת מוֹאָב לִבְנֵי יֵשׁוּעַ וְיוֹאָב אַלְפַּיִם וּשְׁמֹנֶה מֵאוֹת שְׁמֹנָה עָשָׂר. יבבְּנֵי עֵילָם אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם חֲמִשִּׁים וְאַרְבָּעָה. יגבְּנֵי זַתּוּא שְׁמֹנֶה מֵאוֹת אַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה. ידבְּנֵי זַכָּי שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת וְשִׁשִּׁים. טובְּנֵי בִנּוּי שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. טזבְּנֵי בֵבָי שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. יזבְּנֵי עַזְגָּד אַלְפַּיִם שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁנָיִם. יחבְּנֵי אֲדֹנִיקָם שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת שִׁשִּׁים וְשִׁבְעָה. יטבְּנֵי בִגְוָי אַלְפַּיִם שִׁשִּׁים וְשִׁבְעָה. כבְּנֵי עָדִין שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת חֲמִשִּׁים וַחֲמִשָּׁה. כאבְּנֵי אָטֵר לְחִזְקִיָּה תִּשְׁעִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. כבבְּנֵי חָשֻׁם שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. כגבְּנֵי בֵצָי שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה. כדבְּנֵי חָרִיף מֵאָה שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר. כהבְּנֵי גִבְעוֹן תִּשְׁעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה. כואַנְשֵׁי בֵית לֶחֶם וּנְטֹפָה מֵאָה שְׁמֹנִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. כזאַנְשֵׁי עֲנָתוֹת מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. כחאַנְשֵׁי בֵית עַזְמָוֶת אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁנָיִם. כטאַנְשֵׁי קִרְיַת יְעָרִים כְּפִירָה וּבְאֵרוֹת שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה. לאַנְשֵׁי הָרָמָה וָגָבַע שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת עֶשְׂרִים וְאֶחָד. לאאַנְשֵׁי מִכְמָס מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁנָיִם. לבאַנְשֵׁי בֵית אֵל וְהָעָי מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה. לגאַנְשֵׁי נְבוֹ אַחֵר חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁנָיִם. לדבְּנֵי עֵילָם אַחֵר אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם חֲמִשִּׁים וְאַרְבָּעָה. להבְּנֵי חָרִם שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת וְעֶשְׂרִים. לובְּנֵי יְרֵחוֹ שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת אַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה. לזבְּנֵי לֹד חָדִיד וְאֹנוֹ שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת וְעֶשְׂרִים וְאֶחָד. לחבְּנֵי סְנָאָה שְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים תְּשַׁע מֵאוֹת וּשְׁלֹשִׁים.
לטהַכֹּהֲנִים: בְּנֵי יְדַעְיָה לְבֵית יֵשׁוּעַ תְּשַׁע מֵאוֹת שִׁבְעִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה. מבְּנֵי אִמֵּר אֶלֶף חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁנָיִם. מאבְּנֵי פַשְׁחוּר אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם אַרְבָּעִים וְשִׁבְעָה. מבבְּנֵי חָרִם אֶלֶף שִׁבְעָה עָשָׂר.
מגהַלְוִיִּם: בְּנֵי יֵשׁוּעַ לְקַדְמִיאֵל לִבְנֵי לְהוֹדְוָה שִׁבְעִים וְאַרְבָּעָה. מדהַמְשֹׁרְרִים בְּנֵי אָסָף מֵאָה אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁמֹנָה. מההַשֹּׁעֲרִים בְּנֵי שַׁלֻּם בְּנֵי אָטֵר בְּנֵי טַלְמֹן בְּנֵי עַקּוּב בְּנֵי חֲטִיטָא בְּנֵי שֹׁבָי מֵאָה שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁמֹנָה. מוהַנְּתִינִים: בְּנֵי צִחָא בְנֵי חֲשֻׂפָא בְּנֵי טַבָּעוֹת. מזבְּנֵי קֵירֹס בְּנֵי סִיעָא בְּנֵי פָדוֹן. מחבְּנֵי לְבָנָה בְנֵי חֲגָבָא בְּנֵי שַׁלְמָי. מטבְּנֵי חָנָן בְּנֵי גִדֵּל בְּנֵי גָחַר. נבְּנֵי רְאָיָה בְנֵי רְצִין בְּנֵי נְקוֹדָא. נאבְּנֵי גַזָּם בְּנֵי עֻזָּא בְּנֵי פָסֵחַ. נבבְּנֵי בֵסַי בְּנֵי מְעוּנִים בְּנֵי נפושסים (נְפִישְׁסִים). נגבְּנֵי בַקְבּוּק בְּנֵי חֲקוּפָא בְּנֵי חַרְחוּר. נדבְּנֵי בַצְלִית בְּנֵי מְחִידָא בְּנֵי חַרְשָׁא. נהבְּנֵי בַרְקוֹס בְּנֵי סִיסְרָא בְּנֵי תָמַח. נובְּנֵי נְצִיחַ בְּנֵי חֲטִיפָא. נזבְּנֵי עַבְדֵי שְׁלֹמֹה: בְּנֵי סוֹטַי בְּנֵי סֹפֶרֶת בְּנֵי פְרִידָא. נחבְּנֵי יַעְלָא בְנֵי דַרְקוֹן בְּנֵי גִדֵּל. נטבְּנֵי שְׁפַטְיָה בְנֵי חַטִּיל בְּנֵי פֹּכֶרֶת הַצְּבָיִים בְּנֵי אָמוֹן. סכָּל הַנְּתִינִים וּבְנֵי עַבְדֵי שְׁלֹמֹה: שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת תִּשְׁעִים וּשְׁנָיִם.
סאוְאֵלֶּה הָעוֹלִים מִתֵּל מֶלַח תֵּל חַרְשָׁא כְּרוּב אַדּוֹן וְאִמֵּר; וְלֹא יָכְלוּ לְהַגִּיד בֵּית אֲבֹתָם וְזַרְעָם אִם מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל הֵם. סבבְּנֵי דְלָיָה בְנֵי טוֹבִיָּה בְּנֵי נְקוֹדָא שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁנָיִם. סגוּמִן הַכֹּהֲנִים בְּנֵי חֳבַיָּה בְּנֵי הַקּוֹץ: בְּנֵי בַרְזִלַּי אֲשֶׁר לָקַח מִבְּנוֹת בַּרְזִלַּי הַגִּלְעָדִי אִשָּׁה וַיִּקָּרֵא עַל שְׁמָם. סדאֵלֶּה בִּקְשׁוּ כְתָבָם הַמִּתְיַחְשִׂים וְלֹא נִמְצָא; וַיְגֹאֲלוּ מִן הַכְּהֻנָּה. סהוַיֹּאמֶר הַתִּרְשָׁתָא לָהֶם אֲשֶׁר לֹא יֹאכְלוּ מִקֹּדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים עַד עֲמֹד הַכֹּהֵן לְאוּרִים וְתֻמִּים. סוכָּל הַקָּהָל כְּאֶחָד אַרְבַּע רִבּוֹא אַלְפַּיִם שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת וְשִׁשִּׁים. סזמִלְּבַד עַבְדֵיהֶם וְאַמְהֹתֵיהֶם אֵלֶּה שִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת שְׁלֹשִׁים וְשִׁבְעָה; וְלָהֶם מְשֹׁרְרִים וּמְשֹׁרְרוֹת מָאתַיִם וְאַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה. סחגְּמַלִּים אַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת שְׁלֹשִׁים וַחֲמִשָּׁה; חֲמֹרִים שֵׁשֶׁת אֲלָפִים שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת וְעֶשְׂרִים. סטוּמִקְצָת רָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת נָתְנוּ לַמְּלָאכָה הַתִּרְשָׁתָא נָתַן לָאוֹצָר זָהָב דַּרְכְּמֹנִים אֶלֶף מִזְרָקוֹת חֲמִשִּׁים כָּתְנוֹת כֹּהֲנִים שְׁלֹשִׁים וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת. עוּמֵרָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת נָתְנוּ לְאוֹצַר הַמְּלָאכָה זָהָב דַּרְכְּמוֹנִים שְׁתֵּי רִבּוֹת; וְכֶסֶף מָנִים אַלְפַּיִם וּמָאתָיִם. עאוַאֲשֶׁר נָתְנוּ שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם זָהָב דַּרְכְּמֹנִים שְׁתֵּי רִבּוֹא וְכֶסֶף מָנִים אַלְפָּיִם; וְכָתְנֹת כֹּהֲנִים שִׁשִּׁים וְשִׁבְעָה.
עבוַיֵּשְׁבוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם וְהַשּׁוֹעֲרִים וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִים וּמִן הָעָם וְהַנְּתִינִים וְכָל יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעָרֵיהֶם; וַיִּגַּע הַחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעָרֵיהֶם.
