1And the men of Efrayim were gathered together, and passed to Tzafonah; and they said unto Yiftakh, “Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Amon, and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house upon you with fire.” 2And Yiftakh said unto them, “I and my people were at great strife with the children of Amon; and when I called you, you saved me not out of their hand. 3And when I saw that you saved me not, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Amon, and יהוה delivered them into my hand; why then are you come up unto me this day, to fight against me?” 4Then Yiftakh gathered together all the men of Gilad, and fought with Efrayim; and the men of Gilad smote Efrayim, because they said, “You are fugitives of Efrayim, you, Gilad, in the midst of Efrayim, and in the midst of Menasheh.’ 5And Gilad took the fords of the Yarden against Efrayim; and it was so, that when any of the fugitives of Efrayim said, “Let me go over,” the men of Gilad said unto him, “Are you an Efrati?’ If he said, “No”, 6then said they unto him, “Say now Shibolet”; and he said ‘Sibolet’; for he could not frame to pronounce it right; then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of the Yarden; and there fell at that time of Efrayim forty-two thousand. 7And Yiftakh judged Yisra’el six years. Then Yiftakh the Giladi died, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilad.
8And after him Ivtzan of Beit Lekhem judged Yisra’el. 9And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Yisra’el seven years. 10and Ivtzan died, and was buried at Beit Lekhem.
11And after him Eilon the Zevuloni judged Yisra’el; and he judged Yisra’el ten years. 12And Eilon the Zevuloni died, and was buried in Ayalon in the land of Zevulun.
13And after him Avdon Ben Hillel the Piratoni judged Yisra’el. 14And he had forty sons and thirty sons’ sons, that rode on seventy donkey colts; and he judged Yisra’el eight years. 15And Avdon Ben Hillel the Piratoni died, and was buried in Piraton in the land of Efrayim, in the hill country of the Amaleki.
אוַיִּצָּעֵק אִישׁ אֶפְרַיִם וַיַּעֲבֹר צָפוֹנָה; וַיֹּאמְרוּ לְיִפְתָּח מַדּוּעַ עָבַרְתָּ לְהִלָּחֵם בִּבְנֵי עַמּוֹן וְלָנוּ לֹא קָרָאתָ לָלֶכֶת עִמָּךְ בֵּיתְךָ נִשְׂרֹף עָלֶיךָ בָּאֵשׁ. בוַיֹּאמֶר יִפְתָּח אֲלֵיהֶם אִישׁ רִיב הָיִיתִי אֲנִי וְעַמִּי וּבְנֵי עַמּוֹן מְאֹד; וָאֶזְעַק אֶתְכֶם וְלֹא הוֹשַׁעְתֶּם אוֹתִי מִיָּדָם. גוָאֶרְאֶה כִּי אֵינְךָ מוֹשִׁיעַ וָאָשִׂימָה נַפְשִׁי בְכַפִּי וָאֶעְבְּרָה אֶל בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן וַיִּתְּנֵם יהוה בְּיָדִי; וְלָמָה עֲלִיתֶם אֵלַי הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה לְהִלָּחֶם בִּי. דוַיִּקְבֹּץ יִפְתָּח אֶת כָּל אַנְשֵׁי גִלְעָד וַיִּלָּחֶם אֶת אֶפְרָיִם; וַיַּכּוּ אַנְשֵׁי גִלְעָד אֶת אֶפְרַיִם כִּי אָמְרוּ פְּלִיטֵי אֶפְרַיִם אַתֶּם גִּלְעָד בְּתוֹךְ אֶפְרַיִם בְּתוֹךְ מְנַשֶּׁה. הוַיִּלְכֹּד גִּלְעָד אֶת מַעְבְּרוֹת הַיַּרְדֵּן לְאֶפְרָיִם; וְהָיָה כִּי יֹאמְרוּ פְּלִיטֵי אֶפְרַיִם אֶעֱבֹרָה וַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ אַנְשֵׁי גִלְעָד הַאֶפְרָתִי אַתָּה וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא. ווַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ אֱמָר נָא שִׁבֹּלֶת וַיֹּאמֶר סִבֹּלֶת וְלֹא יָכִין לְדַבֵּר כֵּן וַיֹּאחֲזוּ אוֹתוֹ וַיִּשְׁחָטוּהוּ אֶל מַעְבְּרוֹת הַיַּרְדֵּן; וַיִּפֹּל בָּעֵת הַהִיא מֵאֶפְרַיִם אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁנַיִם אָלֶף. זוַיִּשְׁפֹּט יִפְתָּח אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל שֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים; וַיָּמָת יִפְתָּח הַגִּלְעָדִי וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּעָרֵי גִלְעָד.
חוַיִּשְׁפֹּט אַחֲרָיו אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל אִבְצָן מִבֵּית לָחֶם. טוַיְהִי לוֹ שְׁלֹשִׁים בָּנִים וּשְׁלֹשִׁים בָּנוֹת שִׁלַּח הַחוּצָה וּשְׁלֹשִׁים בָּנוֹת הֵבִיא לְבָנָיו מִן הַחוּץ; וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים. יוַיָּמָת אִבְצָן וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּבֵית לָחֶם.
יאוַיִּשְׁפֹּט אַחֲרָיו אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵילוֹן הַזְּבוּלֹנִי; וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים. יבוַיָּמָת אֵילוֹן הַזְּבוּלֹנִי; וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּאַיָּלוֹן בְּאֶרֶץ זְבוּלֻן.
יגוַיִּשְׁפֹּט אַחֲרָיו אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל עַבְדּוֹן בֶּן הִלֵּל הַפִּרְעָתוֹנִי. ידוַיְהִי לוֹ אַרְבָּעִים בָּנִים וּשְׁלֹשִׁים בְּנֵי בָנִים רֹכְבִים עַל שִׁבְעִים עֲיָרִם; וַיִּשְׁפֹּט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנִים. טווַיָּמָת עַבְדּוֹן בֶּן הִלֵּל הַפִּרְעָתוֹנִי; וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּפִרְעָתוֹן בְּאֶרֶץ אֶפְרַיִם בְּהַר הָעֲמָלֵקִי
