1And it came to pass after many days, when יהוה had given rest unto Yisra’el from all their enemies round about, and Yehoshua was old and well stricken in years; 2that Yehoshua called for all Yisra’el, for their Z’kenim and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said unto them, “I am old and well stricken in years. 3And you have seen all that יהוה your Elohim has done unto all these nations because of you; for יהוה your Elohim, He it is that has fought for you. 4Behold, I have allotted unto you for an inheritance, according to your tribes, these nations that remain, from the Yarden, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun. 5And יהוה your Elohim, He shall thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and you shall possess their land, as יהוה your Elohim spoke unto you. 6Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in Sefer Torah Moshe, that you turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left; 7that you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor worship them; 8but cleave unto יהוה your Elohim, as you have done unto this day; 9therefore יהוה has driven out from before you great nations and mighty; but as for you, no man has stood against you unto this day. 10One man of you has chased a thousand; for יהוה your Elohim, He it is that fought for you, as He spoke unto you. 11Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that you love יהוה your Elohim. 12Else if you do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remainder of these nations, even these that remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you; 13know for a certainty that יהוה your Elohim will no more drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap unto you, and a scourge in your sides, and pricks in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which יהוה your Elohim has given you. 14And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth; consider, therefore, in all your heart and in all your soul, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which יהוה your Elohim spoke concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, not one thing has failed thereof. 15And it shall come to pass, that as all the good things are come upon you of which יהוה your Elohim spoke unto you, so shall יהוה bring upon you all the evil things, until He has destroyed you from off this good land which יהוה your Elohim has given you. 16When you transgress the Brit of יהוה your Elohim, which He commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them; then shall the anger of יהוה be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which He has given unto you.”
אוַיְהִי מִיָּמִים רַבִּים אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הֵנִיחַ יהוה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל מִכָּל אֹיְבֵיהֶם מִסָּבִיב; וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ זָקֵן בָּא בַּיָּמִים. בוַיִּקְרָא יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לְכָל יִשְׂרָאֵל לִזְקֵנָיו וּלְרָאשָׁיו וּלְשֹׁפְטָיו וּלְשֹׁטְרָיו; וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם אֲנִי זָקַנְתִּי בָּאתִי בַּיָּמִים. גוְאַתֶּם רְאִיתֶם אֵת כָּל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם לְכָל הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה מִפְּנֵיכֶם: כִּי יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם הוּא הַנִּלְחָם לָכֶם. דרְאוּ הִפַּלְתִּי לָכֶם אֶת הַגּוֹיִם הַנִּשְׁאָרִים הָאֵלֶּה בְּנַחֲלָה לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶם: מִן הַיַּרְדֵּן וְכָל הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר הִכְרַתִּי וְהַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל מְבוֹא הַשָּׁמֶשׁ. הוַיהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם הוּא יֶהְדֳּפֵם מִפְּנֵיכֶם וְהוֹרִישׁ אֹתָם מִלִּפְנֵיכֶם; וִירִשְׁתֶּם אֶת אַרְצָם כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם לָכֶם. ווַחֲזַקְתֶּם מְאֹד לִשְׁמֹר וְלַעֲשׂוֹת אֵת כָּל הַכָּתוּב בְּסֵפֶר תּוֹרַת מֹשֶׁה: לְבִלְתִּי סוּר מִמֶּנּוּ יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאול. זלְבִלְתִּי בֹא בַּגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה הַנִּשְׁאָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אִתְּכֶם; וּבְשֵׁם אֱלֹהֵיהֶם לֹא תַזְכִּירוּ וְלֹא תַשְׁבִּיעוּ וְלֹא תַעַבְדוּם וְלֹא תִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לָהֶם. חכִּי אִם בַּיהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם תִּדְבָּקוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר עֲשִׂיתֶם עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה. טוַיּוֹרֶשׁ יהוה מִפְּנֵיכֶם גּוֹיִם גְּדֹלִים וַעֲצוּמִים; וְאַתֶּם לֹא עָמַד אִישׁ בִּפְנֵיכֶם עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה. יאִישׁ אֶחָד מִכֶּם יִרְדָּף אָלֶף: כִּי יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם הוּא הַנִּלְחָם לָכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר לָכֶם. יאוְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּם מְאֹד לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם לְאַהֲבָה אֶת יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. יבכִּי אִם שׁוֹב תָּשׁוּבוּ וּדְבַקְתֶּם בְּיֶתֶר הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה הַנִּשְׁאָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אִתְּכֶם; וְהִתְחַתַּנְתֶּם בָּהֶם וּבָאתֶם בָּהֶם וְהֵם בָּכֶם. יגיָדוֹעַ תֵּדְעוּ כִּי לֹא יוֹסִיף יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם לְהוֹרִישׁ אֶת הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה מִלִּפְנֵיכֶם; וְהָיוּ לָכֶם לְפַח וּלְמוֹקֵשׁ וּלְשֹׁטֵט בְּצִדֵּיכֶם וְלִצְנִנִים בְּעֵינֵיכֶם עַד אֲבָדְכֶם מֵעַל הָאֲדָמָה הַטּוֹבָה הַזֹּאת אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָכֶם יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. ידוְהִנֵּה אָנֹכִי הוֹלֵךְ הַיּוֹם בְּדֶרֶךְ כָּל הָאָרֶץ; וִידַעְתֶּם בְּכָל לְבַבְכֶם וּבְכָל נַפְשְׁכֶם כִּי לֹא נָפַל דָּבָר אֶחָד מִכֹּל הַדְּבָרִים הַטּוֹבִים אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם עֲלֵיכֶם הַכֹּל בָּאוּ לָכֶם לֹא נָפַל מִמֶּנּוּ דָּבָר אֶחָד. טווְהָיָה כַּאֲשֶׁר בָּא עֲלֵיכֶם כָּל הַדָּבָר הַטּוֹב אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲלֵיכֶם: כֵּן יָבִיא יהוה עֲלֵיכֶם אֵת כָּל הַדָּבָר הָרָע עַד הַשְׁמִידוֹ אוֹתְכֶם מֵעַל הָאֲדָמָה הַטּוֹבָה הַזֹּאת אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָכֶם יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. טזבְּעָבְרְכֶם אֶת בְּרִית יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֶתְכֶם וַהֲלַכְתֶּם וַעֲבַדְתֶּם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶם לָהֶם וְחָרָה אַף יהוה בָּכֶם וַאֲבַדְתֶּם מְהֵרָה מֵעַל הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָכֶם.
