1In those days was Yekhizki-Yahu sick unto death. And Yesha-Yahu HaNavi, Ben Amotz, came to him, and said unto him, “Thus says יהוה , ‘Set your house in order; for you shall die, and not live’.” 2Then Yekhizki-Yahu turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto יהוה , and3 said, “Remember now, O יהוה , I beseech You, how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart, and have done that which is good in Your sight.” And Yekhizki-Yahu wept sore. 4Then came the D’var יהוה to Yesha-Yahu, saying, 5 “Go, and say to Yekhizki-Yahu, ‘Thus says יהוה , Elohei David your father, ‘I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add unto your days fifteen years. 6And I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Ashur; and I will defend this city. 7And this shall be the sign unto you from יהוה , that יהוה will do this thing that He has spoken: 8behold, I will cause the shadow of the dial, which is gone down on the sun-dial of Akhaz, to return backward ten degrees’.’ ” So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
9The writing of Yekhizki-Yahu Melekh Yehudah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness. 10“I said, ‘In the noontide of my days I shall go, even to the gates of She’ol; I am deprived of the residue of my years’. 11I said, ‘I shall not see Yah, even Yah in the land of the living; I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world. 12My habitation is plucked up and carried away from me as a shepherd’s tent; I have rolled up like a weaver my life; He will cut me off from the thrum; from day even to night will You make an end of me. 13The more I make myself like unto a lion until morning, the more it breaks all my bones; from day even to night will You make an end of me. 14Like a swallow or a crane, so do I chatter, I do moan as a dove; my eyes fail with looking upward. O יהוה , I am oppressed, be my surety. 15What shall I say? He has both spoken unto me, and Himself has done it; I shall go softly all my years for the bitterness of my soul. 16O Adonai, by these things men live, and altogether therein is the life of my spirit; therefore make me recover, and make me to live. 17Behold, for my shalom I had great bitterness; but You have in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for You have cast all my sins behind Your back. 18For She’ol cannot praise You, Mavet cannot celebrate You; they that go down into the pit cannot hope for Your truth. 19The living, the living, he shall praise You, as I do this day; the father to the children shall make known Your truth. 20 יהוה is ready to save me; therefore we will sing songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in Beit יהוה ‘.” And21 Yesha-Yahu said, “Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.” 22And Yekhizki-Yahu said, “What is the sign that I shall go up to Beit יהוה ?”
אבַּיָּמִים הָהֵם חָלָה חִזְקִיָּהוּ לָמוּת; וַיָּבוֹא אֵלָיו יְשַׁעְיָהוּ בֶן אָמוֹץ הַנָּבִיא וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צַו לְבֵיתֶךָ כִּי מֵת אַתָּה וְלֹא תִחְיֶה. בוַיַּסֵּב חִזְקִיָּהוּ פָּנָיו אֶל הַקִּיר; וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל אֶל יהוה . גוַיֹּאמַר אָנָּה יהוה זְכָר נָא אֵת אֲשֶׁר הִתְהַלַּכְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ בֶּאֱמֶת וּבְלֵב שָׁלֵם וְהַטּוֹב בְּעֵינֶיךָ עָשִׂיתִי; וַיֵּבְךְּ חִזְקִיָּהוּ בְּכִי גָדוֹל. דוַיְהִי דְּבַר יהוה אֶל יְשַׁעְיָהוּ לֵאמֹר, ההָלוֹךְ וְאָמַרְתָּ אֶל חִזְקִיָּהוּ כֹּה אָמַר יהוה אֱלֹהֵי דָּוִד אָבִיךָ שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶת תְּפִלָּתֶךָ רָאִיתִי אֶת דִּמְעָתֶךָ; הִנְנִי יוֹסִף עַל יָמֶיךָ חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה. ווּמִכַּף מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר אַצִּילְךָ וְאֵת הָעִיר הַזֹּאת; וְגַנּוֹתִי עַל הָעִיר הַזֹּאת. זוְזֶה לְּךָ הָאוֹת מֵאֵת יהוה אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה יהוה אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּר. חהִנְנִי מֵשִׁיב אֶת צֵל הַמַּעֲלוֹת אֲשֶׁר יָרְדָה בְמַעֲלוֹת אָחָז בַּשֶּׁמֶשׁ אֲחֹרַנִּית עֶשֶׂר מַעֲלוֹת; וַתָּשָׁב הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ עֶשֶׂר מַעֲלוֹת בַּמַּעֲלוֹת אֲשֶׁר יָרָדָה.
טמִכְתָּב לְחִזְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה בַּחֲלֹתוֹ וַיְחִי מֵחָלְיוֹ. יאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי בִּדְמִי יָמַי אֵלֵכָה בְּשַׁעֲרֵי שְׁאוֹל; פֻּקַּדְתִּי יֶתֶר שְׁנוֹתָי. יאאָמַרְתִּי לֹא אֶרְאֶה יָהּ יָהּ בְּאֶרֶץ הַחַיִּים; לֹא אַבִּיט אָדָם עוֹד עִם יוֹשְׁבֵי חָדֶל. יבדּוֹרִי נִסַּע וְנִגְלָה מִנִּי כְּאֹהֶל רֹעִי; קִפַּדְתִּי כָאֹרֵג חַיַּי מִדַּלָּה יְבַצְּעֵנִי מִיּוֹם עַד לַיְלָה תַּשְׁלִימֵנִי. יגשִׁוִּיתִי עַד בֹּקֶר כָּאֲרִי כֵּן יְשַׁבֵּר כָּל עַצְמוֹתָי; מִיּוֹם עַד לַיְלָה תַּשְׁלִימֵנִי. ידכְּסוּס עָגוּר כֵּן אֲצַפְצֵף אֶהְגֶּה כַּיּוֹנָה; דַּלּוּ עֵינַי לַמָּרוֹם אֲדֹנָי עָשְׁקָה לִּי עָרְבֵנִי. טומָה אֲדַבֵּר וְאָמַר לִי וְהוּא עָשָׂה; אֶדַּדֶּה כָל שְׁנוֹתַי עַל מַר נַפְשִׁי. טזאֲדֹנָי עֲלֵיהֶם יִחְיוּ; וּלְכָל בָּהֶן חַיֵּי רוּחִי וְתַחֲלִימֵנִי וְהַחֲיֵנִי. יזהִנֵּה לְשָׁלוֹם מַר לִי מָר; וְאַתָּה חָשַׁקְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִשַּׁחַת בְּלִי כִּי הִשְׁלַכְתָּ אַחֲרֵי גֵוְךָ כָּל חֲטָאָי. יחכִּי לֹא שְׁאוֹל תּוֹדֶךָּ מָוֶת יְהַלְלֶךָּ; לֹא יְשַׂבְּרוּ יוֹרְדֵי בוֹר אֶל אֲמִתֶּךָ. יטחַי חַי הוּא יוֹדֶךָ כָּמוֹנִי הַיּוֹם; אָב לְבָנִים יוֹדִיעַ אֶל אֲמִתֶּךָ . כ יהוה לְהוֹשִׁיעֵנִי; וּנְגִנוֹתַי נְנַגֵּן כָּל יְמֵי חַיֵּינוּ עַל בֵּית יהוה . כאוַיֹּאמֶר יְשַׁעְיָהוּ יִשְׂאוּ דְּבֶלֶת תְּאֵנִים; וְיִמְרְחוּ עַל הַשְּׁחִין וְיֶחִי. כבוַיֹּאמֶר חִזְקִיָּהוּ מָה אוֹת: כִּי אֶעֱלֶה בֵּית יהוה .
