1“As when fire kindles the brush-wood, and the fire causes the waters to boil; to make Your Name known to Your adversaries, that the nations might tremble at Your presence, 2when You did tremendous things which we looked not for; oh that You would come down, that the mountains might quake at Your presence! 3And whereof from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen an Elohim beside You, who works for him that waits for Him. 4You did take away him that joyfully worked tzedaka, those that remembered You in Your ways; behold, You were wroth, and we sinned; upon them have we stayed of old, that we might be saved. 5And we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our tzedaka is as a polluted garment; and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. 6And there is none that calls upon Your Name, that stirs up himself to take hold of You; for You have hid Your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities. 7But now, O יהוה , You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter, and we all are the work of Your hand. 8Be not wroth very sore, O יהוה , neither remember iniquity forever; behold, look, we beseech You, we are all Your people. 9Your consecrated cities are become a wilderness, Tzion is become a wilderness, Yerushalayim a desolation. 10Our consecrated and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised You, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant things are laid waste. 11Will You refrain Yourself for these things, O יהוה ? Will You be silent, and afflict us very sore?”
אכִּקְדֹחַ אֵשׁ הֲמָסִים מַיִם תִּבְעֶה אֵשׁ לְהוֹדִיעַ שִׁמְךָ לְצָרֶיךָ; מִפָּנֶיךָ גּוֹיִם יִרְגָּזוּ. בבַּעֲשׂוֹתְךָ נוֹרָאוֹת לֹא נְקַוֶּה; יָרַדְתָּ מִפָּנֶיךָ הָרִים נָזֹלּוּ. גוּמֵעוֹלָם לֹא שָׁמְעוּ לֹא הֶאֱזִינוּ; עַיִן לֹא רָאָתָה אֱלֹהִים זוּלָתְךָ יַעֲשֶׂה לִמְחַכֵּה לוֹ. דפָּגַעְתָּ אֶת שָׂשׂ וְעֹשֵׂה צֶדֶק בִּדְרָכֶיךָ יִזְכְּרוּךָ; הֵן אַתָּה קָצַפְתָּ וַנֶּחֱטָא בָּהֶם עוֹלָם וְנִוָּשֵׁעַ. הוַנְּהִי כַטָּמֵא כֻּלָּנוּ וּכְבֶגֶד עִדִּים כָּל צִדְקֹתֵינוּ; וַנָּבֶל כֶּעָלֶה כֻּלָּנוּ וַעֲוֹנֵנוּ כָּרוּחַ יִשָּׂאֻנוּ. ווְאֵין קוֹרֵא בְשִׁמְךָ מִתְעוֹרֵר לְהַחֲזִיק בָּךְ: כִּי הִסְתַּרְתָּ פָנֶיךָ מִמֶּנּוּ וַתְּמוּגֵנוּ בְּיַד עֲוֹנֵנוּ. זוְעַתָּה יהוה אָבִינוּ אָתָּה; אֲנַחְנוּ הַחֹמֶר וְאַתָּה יֹצְרֵנוּ וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדְךָ כֻּלָּנוּ. חאַל תִּקְצֹף יהוה עַד מְאֹד וְאַל לָעַד תִּזְכֹּר עָוֹן; הֵן הַבֶּט נָא עַמְּךָ כֻלָּנוּ. טעָרֵי קָדְשְׁךָ הָיוּ מִדְבָּר; צִיּוֹן מִדְבָּר הָיָתָה יְרוּשָׁלִַם שְׁמָמָה. יבֵּית קָדְשֵׁנוּ וְתִפְאַרְתֵּנוּ אֲשֶׁר הִלְלוּךָ אֲבֹתֵינוּ הָיָה לִשְׂרֵפַת אֵשׁ; וְכָל מַחֲמַדֵּינוּ הָיָה לְחָרְבָּה. יאהַעַל אֵלֶּה תִתְאַפַּק יהוה ; תֶּחֱשֶׁה וּתְעַנֵּנוּ עַד מְאֹד.
