1HaDavar that came to Yirme-Yahu concerning all the people of Yehudah in the fourth year of Y’hoyakim Ben Yoshi-Yahu, Melekh Yehudah, that was the first year of Nevukhadretzar king of Bavel; 2which Yirme-Yahu HaNavi spoke unto all the people of Yehudah, and to all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, saying, 3“From the thirteenth year of Yoshi-Yahu Ben Amon, Melekh Yehudah, even unto this day, these twenty-three years, the D’var יהוה has come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, speaking betimes and often; but you have not hearkened. 4And יהוה has sent unto you all His servants the Nevi’im, sending them betimes and often, but you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear, 5saying, ‘Return, now, every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that יהוה has given unto you and to your fathers, forever and ever; 6and go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke Me not with the work of your hands, and I will do you no hurt’. 7Yet you have not hearkened unto Me, says יהוה ; that you might provoke Me with the work of your hands to your own hurt.”
8“Therefore, thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘Because you have not heard My words, 9behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says יהוה , and I will send unto Nevukhadretzar the king of Bavel, My servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10Moreover I will cause to cease from among them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp. 11And this whole land shall be a desolation, and a waste; and these nations shall serve the king of Bavel seventy years. 12And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Bavel, and that nation, says יהוה , for their iniquity, and the land of the Kasdim; and I will make it perpetual desolations. 13And I will bring upon that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Yirme-Yahu has prophesied against all the nations. 14For many nations and great kings shall make servants of them also; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their own hands’.”
15“For thus says יהוה , Elohei Yisra’el, unto me, ‘Take this cup of the wine of fury at My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it’. 16And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be like madmen, because of the sword that I will send among them.” 17Then I took the cup out of the hand of יהוה , and made all the nations to drink, unto whom יהוה had sent me: 18Yerushalayim, and the cities of Yehudah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them an appalment, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; 19Paroh king of Mitzrayim, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; 20and all the mingled people; and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the P’lishtim, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod; 21Edom, and Mo’av, and the children of Amon; 22and all the kings of Tzor, and all the kings of Tzidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea; 23Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that have the corners of their hair polled; 24and all the kings of HaErev, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the wilderness; 25and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Madai; 26and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth. And the king of Sheshakh shall drink after them. 27And you shall say unto them, ‘Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, Elohei Yisra’el, ‘Drink, and be drunk, and spew, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you’.’ 28And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then shall you say unto them, ‘Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘You shall surely drink. 29For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city whereupon My Name is called, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, says יהוה Tzeva’ot’.’ 30Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say unto them, ‘ יהוה does roar from on high, and utter His voice from His consecrated habitation; He does mightily roar because of His fold; He gives a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. 31A noise is come even to the end of the earth; for יהוה has a controversy with the nations, He does plead with all flesh; as for the wicked, He has given them to the sword’, says יהוה . Thus32 says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 33And the slain of יהוה shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground. 34Wail, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the dust, you leaders of the flock; for the days of your slaughter are fully come, and I will break you in pieces, and you shall fall like a precious vessel. 35And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the leaders of the flock to escape. 36Hark! the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the leaders of the flock! For יהוה despoils their pasture. 37And the peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of יהוה . He38 has forsaken His covert, as the lion; for their land is become a waste because of the fierceness of the oppressing sword, and because of His fierce anger’.'”
אהַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר הָיָה עַל יִרְמְיָהוּ עַל כָּל עַם יְהוּדָה בַּשָּׁנָה הָרְבִעִית לִיהוֹיָקִים בֶּן יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה: הִיא הַשָּׁנָה הָרִאשֹׁנִית לִנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל. באֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא עַל כָּל עַם יְהוּדָה וְאֶל כָּל יֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם לֵאמֹר, גמִן שְׁלֹשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה לְיֹאשִׁיָּהוּ בֶן אָמוֹן מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה וְעַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה זֶה שָׁלֹשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה הָיָה דְבַר יהוה אֵלָי; וָאֲדַבֵּר אֲלֵיכֶם אַשְׁכֵּים וְדַבֵּר וְלֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם. דוְשָׁלַח יהוה אֲלֵיכֶם אֶת כָּל עֲבָדָיו הַנְּבִאִים הַשְׁכֵּם וְשָׁלֹחַ וְלֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם; וְלֹא הִטִּיתֶם אֶת אָזְנְכֶם לִשְׁמֹעַ. הלֵאמֹר שׁוּבוּ נָא אִישׁ מִדַּרְכּוֹ הָרָעָה וּמֵרֹעַ מַעַלְלֵיכֶם וּשְׁבוּ עַל הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר נָתַן יהוה לָכֶם וְלַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶם לְמִן עוֹלָם וְעַד עוֹלָם. ווְאַל תֵּלְכוּ אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לְעָבְדָם וּלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לָהֶם; וְלֹא תַכְעִיסוּ אוֹתִי בְּמַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיכֶם וְלֹא אָרַע לָכֶם. זוְלֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם אֵלַי נְאֻם יהוה לְמַעַן הכעסוני (הַכְעִיסֵנִי) בְּמַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיכֶם לְרַע לָכֶם.
חלָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת: יַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם אֶת דְּבָרָי. טהִנְנִי שֹׁלֵחַ וְלָקַחְתִּי אֶת כָּל מִשְׁפְּחוֹת צָפוֹן נְאֻם יהוה וְאֶל נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל עַבְדִּי וַהֲבִאֹתִים עַל הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת וְעַל יֹשְׁבֶיהָ וְעַל כָּל הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה סָבִיב; וְהַחֲרַמְתִּים וְשַׂמְתִּים לְשַׁמָּה וְלִשְׁרֵקָה וּלְחָרְבוֹת עוֹלָם. יוְהַאֲבַדְתִּי מֵהֶם קוֹל שָׂשׂוֹן וְקוֹל שִׂמְחָה קוֹל חָתָן וְקוֹל כַּלָּה קוֹל רֵחַיִם וְאוֹר נֵר. יאוְהָיְתָה כָּל הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת לְחָרְבָּה לְשַׁמָּה; וְעָבְדוּ הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה אֶת מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה. יבוְהָיָה כִמְלֹאות שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה אֶפְקֹד עַל מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל וְעַל הַגּוֹי הַהוּא נְאֻם יהוה אֶת עֲוֹנָם וְעַל אֶרֶץ כַּשְׂדִּים; וְשַׂמְתִּי אֹתוֹ לְשִׁמְמוֹת עוֹלָם. יגוהבאותי (וְהֵבֵאתִי) עַל הָאָרֶץ הַהִיא אֶת כָּל דְּבָרַי אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי עָלֶיהָ אֵת כָּל הַכָּתוּב בַּסֵּפֶר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר נִבָּא יִרְמְיָהוּ עַל כָּל הַגּוֹיִם. ידכִּי עָבְדוּ בָם גַּם הֵמָּה גּוֹיִם רַבִּים וּמְלָכִים גְּדוֹלִים; וְשִׁלַּמְתִּי לָהֶם כְּפָעֳלָם וּכְמַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיהֶם.
טוכִּי כֹה אָמַר יהוה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵלַי קַח אֶת כּוֹס הַיַּיִן הַחֵמָה הַזֹּאת מִיָּדִי; וְהִשְׁקִיתָה אֹתוֹ אֶת כָּל הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ אוֹתְךָ אֲלֵיהֶם. טזוְשָׁתוּ וְהִתְגֹּעֲשׁוּ וְהִתְהֹלָלוּ מִפְּנֵי הַחֶרֶב אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ בֵּינֹתָם. יזוָאֶקַּח אֶת הַכּוֹס מִיַּד יהוה ; וָאַשְׁקֶה אֶת כָּל הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחַנִי יהוה אֲלֵיהֶם. יחאֶת יְרוּשָׁלִַם וְאֶת עָרֵי יְהוּדָה וְאֶת מְלָכֶיהָ אֶת שָׂרֶיהָ: לָתֵת אֹתָם לְחָרְבָּה לְשַׁמָּה לִשְׁרֵקָה וְלִקְלָלָה כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה. יטאֶת פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם וְאֶת עֲבָדָיו וְאֶת שָׂרָיו וְאֶת כָּל עַמּוֹ. כוְאֵת כָּל הָעֶרֶב וְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי אֶרֶץ הָעוּץ; וְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי אֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּים וְאֶת אַשְׁקְלוֹן וְאֶת עַזָּה וְאֶת עֶקְרוֹן וְאֵת שְׁאֵרִית אַשְׁדּוֹד. כאאֶת אֱדוֹם וְאֶת מוֹאָב וְאֶת בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן. כבוְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי צֹר וְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי צִידוֹן; וְאֵת מַלְכֵי הָאִי אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיָּם. כגוְאֶת דְּדָן וְאֶת תֵּימָא וְאֶת בּוּז וְאֵת כָּל קְצוּצֵי פֵאָה. כדוְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי עֲרָב; וְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי הָעֶרֶב הַשֹּׁכְנִים בַּמִּדְבָּר. כהוְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי זִמְרִי וְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי עֵילָם וְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי מָדָי. כווְאֵת כָּל מַלְכֵי הַצָּפוֹן הַקְּרֹבִים וְהָרְחֹקִים אִישׁ אֶל אָחִיו וְאֵת כָּל הַמַּמְלְכוֹת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר עַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה; וּמֶלֶךְ שֵׁשַׁךְ יִשְׁתֶּה אַחֲרֵיהֶם. כזוְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁתוּ וְשִׁכְרוּ וּקְיוּ וְנִפְלוּ וְלֹא תָקוּמוּ מִפְּנֵי הַחֶרֶב אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ בֵּינֵיכֶם. כחוְהָיָה כִּי יְמָאֲנוּ לָקַחַת הַכּוֹס מִיָּדְךָ לִשְׁתּוֹת; וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת שָׁתוֹ תִשְׁתּוּ. כטכִּי הִנֵּה בָעִיר אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלֶיהָ אָנֹכִי מֵחֵל לְהָרַע וְאַתֶּם הִנָּקֵה תִנָּקוּ: לֹא תִנָּקוּ כִּי חֶרֶב אֲנִי קֹרֵא עַל כָּל יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ נְאֻם יהוה צְבָאוֹת. לוְאַתָּה תִּנָּבֵא אֲלֵיהֶם אֵת כָּל הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה; וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם יהוה מִמָּרוֹם יִשְׁאָג וּמִמְּעוֹן קָדְשׁוֹ יִתֵּן קוֹלוֹ שָׁאֹג יִשְׁאַג עַל נָוֵהוּ הֵידָד כְּדֹרְכִים יַעֲנֶה אֶל כָּל יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ. לאבָּא שָׁאוֹן עַד קְצֵה הָאָרֶץ כִּי רִיב לַיהוה בַּגּוֹיִם נִשְׁפָּט הוּא לְכָל בָּשָׂר: הָרְשָׁעִים נְתָנָם לַחֶרֶב נְאֻם יהוה . לבכֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת הִנֵּה רָעָה יֹצֵאת מִגּוֹי אֶל גּוֹי; וְסַעַר גָּדוֹל יֵעוֹר מִיַּרְכְּתֵי אָרֶץ. לגוְהָיוּ חַלְלֵי יהוה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ וְעַד קְצֵה הָאָרֶץ: לֹא יִסָּפְדוּ וְלֹא יֵאָסְפוּ וְלֹא יִקָּבֵרוּ לְדֹמֶן עַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה יִהְיוּ. לדהֵילִילוּ הָרֹעִים וְזַעֲקוּ וְהִתְפַּלְּשׁוּ אַדִּירֵי הַצֹּאן כִּי מָלְאוּ יְמֵיכֶם לִטְבוֹחַ; וּתְפוֹצוֹתִיכֶם וּנְפַלְתֶּם כִּכְלִי חֶמְדָּה. להוְאָבַד מָנוֹס מִן הָרֹעִים וּפְלֵיטָה מֵאַדִּירֵי הַצֹּאן. לוקוֹל צַעֲקַת הָרֹעִים וִילְלַת אַדִּירֵי הַצֹּאן כִּי שֹׁדֵד יהוה אֶת מַרְעִיתָם. לזוְנָדַמּוּ נְאוֹת הַשָּׁלוֹם מִפְּנֵי חֲרוֹן אַף יהוה . לחעָזַב כַּכְּפִיר סֻכּוֹ כִּי הָיְתָה אַרְצָם לְשַׁמָּה מִפְּנֵי חֲרוֹן הַיּוֹנָה וּמִפְּנֵי חֲרוֹן אַפּוֹ.
