1And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Tzidki-Yahu Melekh Yehudah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Khanan-Yah Ben Azur, the prophet, who was of Givon, spoke unto me in Beit יהוה , in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, 2“Thus speaks יהוה Tzeva’ot, Elohei Yisra’el, saying, ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Bavel. 3Within two full years will I bring back into this place all the vessels of Beit יהוה , that Nevukhadnetzar king of Bavel took away from this place, and carried them to Bavel; 4and I will bring back to this place Yekhon-Yahu Ben Y’hoyakim, Melekh Yehudah, with all the captives of Yehudah, that went to Bavel, says יהוה ; for I will break the yoke of the king of Bavel’.” 5Then HaNavi Yirme-Yahu said unto the prophet Khanan-Yah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in Beit יהוה , even6 HaNavi Yirme-Yahu, said, “Amein! יהוה do so! יהוה perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of Beit יהוה , and all them that are carried away captive, from Bavel unto this place! 7Nevertheless hear now this Davar that I speak in your ears, and in the ears of all the people: 8The Nevi’im that have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. 9The Navi that prophesies of shalom, when the word of the Navi shall come to pass, then shall the Navi be known, that יהוה has truly sent him.” 10Then Khanan-Yah the prophet took the bar from off the neck Yirme-Yahu HaNavi, and broke it. 11And Khanan-Yah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, “Thus says יהוה , ‘Even so will I break the yoke of Nevukhadnetzar king of Bavel from off the neck of all the nations within two full years’.” And the prophet Yirme-Yahu went his way.
12Then the D’var יהוה came unto Yirme-Yahu, after that Khanan-Yah the prophet had broken the bar from off the neck of the prophet Yirme-Yahu, saying, 13“Go, and tell Khanan-Yah, saying, ‘Thus says יהוה , ‘You have broken the bars of wood; but you shall make in their stead bars of iron. 14For thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, Elohei Yisra’el, ‘I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nevukhadnetzar king of Bavel; and they shall serve him; and I have given him the beasts of the field also’.'” 15Then said Yirme-Yahu HaNavi unto Khanan-Yah the prophet, “Hear now, Khanan-Yah; יהוה has not sent you; but you make this people to trust in a lie. 16Therefore, thus says יהוה , ‘Behold, I will send you away from off the face of the earth; this year you shall die, because you have spoken perversion against יהוה ‘.'” So17 Khanan-Yah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
אוַיְהִי בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִיא בְּרֵאשִׁית מַמְלֶכֶת צִדְקִיָּה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה בשנת (בַּשָּׁנָה) הָרְבִעִית בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִׁי; אָמַר אֵלַי חֲנַנְיָה בֶן עַזּוּר הַנָּבִיא אֲשֶׁר מִגִּבְעוֹן בְּבֵית יהוה לְעֵינֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְכָל הָעָם לֵאמֹר, בכֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר: שָׁבַרְתִּי אֶת עֹל מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל. גבְּעוֹד שְׁנָתַיִם יָמִים אֲנִי מֵשִׁיב אֶל הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה אֶת כָּל כְּלֵי בֵּית יהוה אֲשֶׁר לָקַח נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל מִן הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה וַיְבִיאֵם בָּבֶל. דוְאֶת יְכָנְיָה בֶן יְהוֹיָקִים מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה וְאֶת כָּל גָּלוּת יְהוּדָה הַבָּאִים בָּבֶלָה אֲנִי מֵשִׁיב אֶל הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה נְאֻם יהוה : כִּי אֶשְׁבֹּר אֶת עֹל מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל. הוַיֹּאמֶר יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא אֶל חֲנַנְיָה הַנָּבִיא לְעֵינֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים וּלְעֵינֵי כָל הָעָם הָעֹמְדִים בְּבֵית יהוה . ווַיֹּאמֶר יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא אָמֵן כֵּן יַעֲשֶׂה יהוה ; יָקֵם יהוה אֶת דְּבָרֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר נִבֵּאתָ לְהָשִׁיב כְּלֵי בֵית יהוה וְכָל הַגּוֹלָה מִבָּבֶל אֶל הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה. זאַךְ שְׁמַע נָא הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי דֹּבֵר בְּאָזְנֶיךָ וּבְאָזְנֵי כָּל הָעָם. חהַנְּבִיאִים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ לְפָנַי וּלְפָנֶיךָ מִן הָעוֹלָם: וַיִּנָּבְאוּ אֶל אֲרָצוֹת רַבּוֹת וְעַל מַמְלָכוֹת גְּדֹלוֹת לְמִלְחָמָה וּלְרָעָה וּלְדָבֶר. טהַנָּבִיא אֲשֶׁר יִנָּבֵא לְשָׁלוֹם בְּבֹא דְּבַר הַנָּבִיא יִוָּדַע הַנָּבִיא אֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחוֹ יהוה בֶּאֱמֶת. יוַיִּקַּח חֲנַנְיָה הַנָּבִיא אֶת הַמּוֹטָה מֵעַל צַוַּאר יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא; וַיִּשְׁבְּרֵהוּ. יאוַיֹּאמֶר חֲנַנְיָה לְעֵינֵי כָל הָעָם לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יהוה כָּכָה אֶשְׁבֹּר אֶת עֹל נְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל בְּעוֹד שְׁנָתַיִם יָמִים מֵעַל צַוַּאר כָּל הַגּוֹיִם; וַיֵּלֶךְ יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא לְדַרְכּוֹ.
יבוַיְהִי דְבַר יהוה אֶל יִרְמְיָה: אַחֲרֵי שְׁבוֹר חֲנַנְיָה הַנָּבִיא אֶת הַמּוֹטָה מֵעַל צַוַּאר יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר, יגהָלוֹךְ וְאָמַרְתָּ אֶל חֲנַנְיָה לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יהוה מוֹטֹת עֵץ שָׁבָרְתָּ; וְעָשִׂיתָ תַחְתֵּיהֶן מֹטוֹת בַּרְזֶל. ידכִּי כֹה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֹל בַּרְזֶל נָתַתִּי עַל צַוַּאר כָּל הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה לַעֲבֹד אֶת נְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל וַעֲבָדֻהוּ; וְגַם אֶת חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה נָתַתִּי לוֹ. טווַיֹּאמֶר יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא אֶל חֲנַנְיָה הַנָּבִיא שְׁמַע נָא חֲנַנְיָה: לֹא שְׁלָחֲךָ יהוה וְאַתָּה הִבְטַחְתָּ אֶת הָעָם הַזֶּה עַל שָׁקֶר. טזלָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר יהוה הִנְנִי מְשַׁלֵּחֲךָ מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה; הַשָּׁנָה אַתָּה מֵת כִּי סָרָה דִבַּרְתָּ אֶל יהוה . יזוַיָּמָת חֲנַנְיָה הַנָּבִיא בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִיא בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי.
