1And יהוה prepared a great fish to swallow up Yonah; and Yonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. 2Then Yonah prayed unto יהוה his Elohim out of the fish’s belly. 3And he said, “I called out of my affliction unto יהוה , and He answered me; out of the belly of She’ol I cried , and You heard my voice. 4For You did cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, and the flood was round about me; all Your waves and Your billows passed over me. 5And I said, ‘I am cast out from before Your eyes’; yet I will look again toward Your consecrated Heikhal. 6The waters encompassed me about, even to the soul; the deep was round about me; the weeds were wrapped about my head. 7I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars closed upon me forever; yet have You brought up my life from the pit, O יהוה my Elohim. 8When my soul fainted within me, I remembered יהוה ; and my prayer came in unto You, into Your consecrated Heikhal. 9They that regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy. 10But I will sacrifice unto You with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from יהוה .” And11 יהוה spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Yonah upon the dry land.
אוַיְמַן יהוה דָּג גָּדוֹל לִבְלֹעַ אֶת יוֹנָה; וַיְהִי יוֹנָה בִּמְעֵי הַדָּג שְׁלֹשָׁה יָמִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה לֵילוֹת. בוַיִּתְפַּלֵּל יוֹנָה אֶל יהוה אֱלֹהָיו מִמְּעֵי הַדָּגָה. גוַיֹּאמֶר קָרָאתִי מִצָּרָה לִי אֶל יהוה וַיַּעֲנֵנִי; מִבֶּטֶן שְׁאוֹל שִׁוַּעְתִּי שָׁמַעְתָּ קוֹלִי. דוַתַּשְׁלִיכֵנִי מְצוּלָה בִּלְבַב יַמִּים וְנָהָר יְסֹבְבֵנִי; כָּל מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָ וְגַלֶּיךָ עָלַי עָבָרוּ. הוַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי נִגְרַשְׁתִּי מִנֶּגֶד עֵינֶיךָ; אַךְ אוֹסִיף לְהַבִּיט אֶל הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ. ואֲפָפוּנִי מַיִם עַד נֶפֶשׁ תְּהוֹם יְסֹבְבֵנִי; סוּף חָבוּשׁ לְרֹאשִׁי. זלְקִצְבֵי הָרִים יָרַדְתִּי הָאָרֶץ בְּרִחֶיהָ בַעֲדִי לְעוֹלָם; וַתַּעַל מִשַּׁחַת חַיַּי יהוה אֱלֹהָי. חבְּהִתְעַטֵּף עָלַי נַפְשִׁי אֶת יהוה זָכָרְתִּי; וַתָּבוֹא אֵלֶיךָ תְּפִלָּתִי אֶל הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ. טמְשַׁמְּרִים הַבְלֵי שָׁוְא חַסְדָּם יַעֲזֹבוּ. יוַאֲנִי בְּקוֹל תּוֹדָה אֶזְבְּחָה לָּךְ אֲשֶׁר נָדַרְתִּי אֲשַׁלֵּמָה: יְשׁוּעָתָה לַיהוה . יאוַיֹּאמֶר יהוה לַדָּג; וַיָּקֵא אֶת יוֹנָה אֶל הַיַּבָּשָׁה.
