1In the eighth khodesh, in the second year of Daryavesh, came the D’var יהוה unto Zekhar-Yah Ben Berekh-Yah, Ben Ido, HaNavi, saying, 2” יהוה has been sore displeased with your fathers. 3Therefore say unto them, ‘Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, Return unto Me, says יהוה Tzeva’ot, and I will return unto you, says יהוה Tzeva’ot’. 4Be not as your fathers, unto whom the former Nevi’im proclaimed, saying, ‘Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘Return now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings’;’ but they did not hear, nor attend unto Me, says יהוה . Your5 fathers, where are they? And the Nevi’im, do they live forever? 6But My D’varim and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the Nevi’im, did they not overtake your fathers? So that they turned and said, ‘Like as יהוה Tzeva’ot purposed to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so has He dealt with us.'”
7Upon the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh khodesh, which is the month Shevat, in the second year of Daryavesh, came the D’var יהוה unto Zekhar-Yah Ben Berekh-Yah, Ben Ido, HaNavi, saying, 8“I saw in the night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white. 9Then I said, ”O my Adon, what are these?” And the Malakh that spoke with me said unto me, ”I will show you what these are.” 10And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, ”These are they whom יהוה has sent to walk to and fro through the earth.” 11And they answered the Malakh יהוה that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, ”We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sits still, and is at rest.” 12Then the Malakh יהוה spoke and said, ”O יהוה Tzeva’ot, how long will You not have mercy on Yerushalayim and on the cities of Yehudah, against which You have had indignation these seventy years?” 13And יהוה answered the Malakh that spoke with me with good words, even comforting words; 14so the Malakh that spoke with me said unto me, ”Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘I am jealous for Yerushalayim and for Tzion with a great jealousy; 15and I am very sore displeased with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, and they helped for evil’. 16Therefore thus says יהוה , ‘I return to Yerushalayim with mercies. My house shall be built in it,’ says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘and a line shall be stretched forth over Yerushalayim’.” 17Again, proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, ‘My cities shall again overflow with prosperity; and יהוה shall yet comfort Tzion, and shall yet choose Yerushalayim’.'”
אבַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁמִינִי בִּשְׁנַת שְׁתַּיִם לְדָרְיָוֶשׁ הָיָה דְבַר יהוה אֶל זְכַרְיָה בֶּן בֶּרֶכְיָה בֶּן עִדּוֹ הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר, בקָצַף יהוה עַל אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם קָצֶף. גוְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת שׁוּבוּ אֵלַי נְאֻם יהוה צְבָאוֹת וְאָשׁוּב אֲלֵיכֶם אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת. דאַל תִּהְיוּ כַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר קָרְאוּ אֲלֵיהֶם הַנְּבִיאִים הָרִאשֹׁנִים לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת שׁוּבוּ נָא מִדַּרְכֵיכֶם הָרָעִים ומעליליכם (וּמַעַלְלֵיכֶם) הָרָעִים; וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ וְלֹא הִקְשִׁיבוּ אֵלַי נְאֻם יהוה . האֲבוֹתֵיכֶם אַיֵּה הֵם; וְהַנְּבִאִים הַלְעוֹלָם יִחְיוּ. ואַךְ דְּבָרַי וְחֻקַּי אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִי אֶת עֲבָדַי הַנְּבִיאִים הֲלוֹא הִשִּׂיגוּ אֲבֹתֵיכֶם; וַיָּשׁוּבוּ וַיֹּאמְרוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר זָמַם יהוה צְבָאוֹת לַעֲשׂוֹת לָנוּ כִּדְרָכֵינוּ וּכְמַעֲלָלֵינוּ כֵּן עָשָׂה אִתָּנוּ.
זבְּיוֹם עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה לְעַשְׁתֵּי עָשָׂר חֹדֶשׁ הוּא חֹדֶשׁ שְׁבָט בִּשְׁנַת שְׁתַּיִם לְדָרְיָוֶשׁ הָיָה דְבַר יהוה אֶל זְכַרְיָה בֶּן בֶּרֶכְיָהוּ בֶּן עִדּוֹא הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר, חרָאִיתִי הַלַּיְלָה וְהִנֵּה אִישׁ רֹכֵב עַל סוּס אָדֹם וְהוּא עֹמֵד בֵּין הַהֲדַסִּים אֲשֶׁר בַּמְּצֻלָה; וְאַחֲרָיו סוּסִים אֲדֻמִּים שְׂרֻקִּים וּלְבָנִים. טוָאֹמַר מָה אֵלֶּה אֲדֹנִי; וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הַמַּלְאָךְ הַדֹּבֵר בִּי אֲנִי אַרְאֶךָּ מָה הֵמָּה אֵלֶּה. יוַיַּעַן הָאִישׁ הָעֹמֵד בֵּין הַהֲדַסִּים וַיֹּאמַר: אֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר שָׁלַח יהוה לְהִתְהַלֵּךְ בָּאָרֶץ. יאוַיַּעֲנוּ אֶת מַלְאַךְ יהוה הָעֹמֵד בֵּין הַהֲדַסִּים וַיֹּאמְרוּ הִתְהַלַּכְנוּ בָאָרֶץ; וְהִנֵּה כָל הָאָרֶץ יֹשֶׁבֶת וְשֹׁקָטֶת. יבוַיַּעַן מַלְאַךְ יהוה וַיֹּאמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת עַד מָתַי אַתָּה לֹא תְרַחֵם אֶת יְרוּשָׁלִַם וְאֵת עָרֵי יְהוּדָה אֲשֶׁר זָעַמְתָּה זֶה שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה. יגוַיַּעַן יהוה אֶת הַמַּלְאָךְ הַדֹּבֵר בִּי דְּבָרִים טוֹבִים: דְּבָרִים נִחֻמִים. ידוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הַמַּלְאָךְ הַדֹּבֵר בִּי קְרָא לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת: קִנֵּאתִי לִירוּשָׁלִַם וּלְצִיּוֹן קִנְאָה גְדוֹלָה. טווְקֶצֶף גָּדוֹל אֲנִי קֹצֵף עַל הַגּוֹיִם הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּים אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי קָצַפְתִּי מְּעָט וְהֵמָּה עָזְרוּ לְרָעָה. טזלָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר יהוה שַׁבְתִּי לִירוּשָׁלִַם בְּרַחֲמִים בֵּיתִי יִבָּנֶה בָּהּ נְאֻם יהוה צְבָאוֹת; וקוה (וְקָו) יִנָּטֶה עַל יְרוּשָׁלִָם. יזעוֹד קְרָא לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת עוֹד תְּפוּצֶנָה עָרַי מִטּוֹב; וְנִחַם יהוה עוֹד אֶת צִיּוֹן וּבָחַר עוֹד בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
