1Then again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold a flying scroll. 2And he said unto me, “What do you see?” And I answered, “I see a flying scroll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.” 3Then he said unto me, “This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole land; for everyone that steals shall be swept away on the one side like it; and everyone that swears shall be swept away on the other side like it. 4I cause it to go forth, says יהוה Tzeva’ot, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My Name; and it shall abide in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.” 5Then the Malakh that spoke with me went forth, and said unto me, “Lift up now your eyes, and see what is this that goes forth.” 6And I said, “What is it?” And he said, “This is the measure that goes forth.” He said moreover, “This is their eye in all the land;” 7and, behold, there was lifted up a round piece of lead; “and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the measure.” 8And he said, “This is Wickedness.” And he cast her down into the midst of the measure, and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. 9Then I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and, behold, there came forth two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork; and they lifted up the measure between the earth and heaven. 10Then I said to the Malakh that spoke with me, “Where do these bear the measure?” 11And he said unto me, “To build her a house in the land of Shinar; and when it is prepared, she shall be set there in her own place.”
אוָאָשׁוּב וָאֶשָּׂא עֵינַי וָאֶרְאֶה; וְהִנֵּה מְגִלָּה עָפָה. בוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי מָה אַתָּה רֹאֶה; וָאֹמַר אֲנִי רֹאֶה מְגִלָּה עָפָה אָרְכָּהּ עֶשְׂרִים בָּאַמָּה וְרָחְבָּהּ עֶשֶׂר בָּאַמָּה. גוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי זֹאת הָאָלָה הַיּוֹצֵאת עַל פְּנֵי כָל הָאָרֶץ: כִּי כָל הַגֹּנֵב מִזֶּה כָּמוֹהָ נִקָּה וְכָל הַנִּשְׁבָּע מִזֶּה כָּמוֹהָ נִקָּה. דהוֹצֵאתִיהָ נְאֻם יהוה צְבָאוֹת וּבָאָה אֶל בֵּית הַגַּנָּב וְאֶל בֵּית הַנִּשְׁבָּע בִּשְׁמִי לַשָּׁקֶר; וְלָנֶה בְּתוֹךְ בֵּיתוֹ וְכִלַּתּוּ וְאֶת עֵצָיו וְאֶת אֲבָנָיו. הוַיֵּצֵא הַמַּלְאָךְ הַדֹּבֵר בִּי; וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי שָׂא נָא עֵינֶיךָ וּרְאֵה מָה הַיּוֹצֵאת הַזֹּאת. ווָאֹמַר מַה הִיא; וַיֹּאמֶר זֹאת הָאֵיפָה הַיּוֹצֵאת וַיֹּאמֶר זֹאת עֵינָם בְּכָל הָאָרֶץ. זוְהִנֵּה כִּכַּר עֹפֶרֶת נִשֵּׂאת; וְזֹאת אִשָּׁה אַחַת יוֹשֶׁבֶת בְּתוֹךְ הָאֵיפָה. חוַיֹּאמֶר זֹאת הָרִשְׁעָה וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ אֹתָהּ אֶל תּוֹךְ הָאֵיפָה; וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ אֶת אֶבֶן הָעוֹפֶרֶת אֶל פִּיהָ. טוָאֶשָּׂא עֵינַי וָאֵרֶא וְהִנֵּה שְׁתַּיִם נָשִׁים יוֹצְאוֹת וְרוּחַ בְּכַנְפֵיהֶם וְלָהֵנָּה כְנָפַיִם כְּכַנְפֵי הַחֲסִידָה; וַתִּשֶּׂאנָה אֶת הָאֵיפָה בֵּין הָאָרֶץ וּבֵין הַשָּׁמָיִם. יוָאֹמַר אֶל הַמַּלְאָךְ הַדֹּבֵר בִּי: אָנָה הֵמָּה מוֹלִכוֹת אֶת הָאֵיפָה. יאוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי לִבְנוֹת לָה בַיִת בְּאֶרֶץ שִׁנְעָר; וְהוּכַן וְהֻנִּיחָה שָּׁם עַל מְכֻנָתָהּ.
