Yokhanan 21 – יוחנן כא

1After these things, Yeshua showed Himself again to His Talmidim by the sea of Teveryah; and He appeared in this way: 2they were all together, Shimon Kefa, and T’oma who is called the Twin, and Netan’el of Kana of the Galil, and the sons of Zavdai, and two others of the Talmidim.  3Shimon Kefa said to them, “I am going to catch fish.” They said to him, “We also will come with you.” So they went out and climbed up into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.  4When morning came, Yeshua stood by the seaside; and the Talmidim did not know that it was Yeshua.  5So Yeshua said to them, “Boys, have you got anything to eat?” They said to Him, “No.”  6He said to them, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find fish.” So they threw it, and they were not able to draw the net because of the many fish which it had caught.  7Then the Talmid whom Yeshua loved said to Kefa, “That is Adoneinu.” When Shimon heard that it was Adoneinu, he took his cloak and girded it around his waist, because he was naked; and he jumped into the sea to come to Yeshua.  8But the other Talmidim came by boat; for they were not very far from land, but about a hundred cubits, and they were dragging the net of fish.  9When they landed, they saw burning coals set, and a fish laid on them,  and bread.  10Yeshua said to them,  “Bring some of the fish which you have now caught.”  11So Shimon Kefa went up and drew the net to land, full of large fishes, one hundred and fifty-three;  and in spite of this weight,  the  net  did  not break.  12Yeshua said to them, “Come; eat!” But not one of the Talmidim dared to ask Him who He was, for they knew He was Adoneinu.  13Then Yeshua drew near, and took bread and fish and gave to them.  14This is the third time that Yeshua appeared to His Talmidim after He rose up from the dead.

15When they had broken their fast, Yeshua said to Shimon Kefa, “Shimon Ben Yonah, do you love me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, My Adon, you know that I love you.” Yeshua said to him, “Tend to my lambs.”  16He said to him again the second time, “Shimon Ben Yonah, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, My Adon, you know that I love you.” Yeshua said to him, “Tend to my sheep.”  17He said to him again the third time, “Shimon Ben Yonah, do you love me?”  It grieved Kefa because He said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” So he said to Him, “My Adon, you understand well everything, you know that I love you.” Yeshua said to him, “Tend to my ewes.  18Amein, Amein, I say to you, when you were young, you tied up your girdle yourself, and walked wherever you pleased; but when you become old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will tie up for you your girdle and take you where you do not wish to go.”  19He said this to show by what death he would glorify Elohim. And when He had said these things, He said to him, “Follow me.”

20Shimon Kefa turned around and saw the Talmid whom Yeshua loved following Him, the one who leaned on the breast of Yeshua at the supper and said, “My Adon, who will betray you?”  21When Kefa saw him, he said to Yeshua, “My Adon, what about him?”  22Yeshua said to him, “If I wish him to remain until I come, what difference does that make to you? You follow me.”  23This word then went out among the brethren, that that Talmid would not die. But what Yeshua said was not that he would not die, but, “If I wish that he should remain until I come back, what difference does that make to you?”  24This is the Talmid who testified concerning all of these things, and who also wrote them; and we know that his testimony is true.  25There are also a great many other things which Yeshua did, which, if they were written one by one, not even this world, I trust, could contain the books that would be written.
