1And He called His twelve Talmidim and gave them power over the unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and sickness. 2The names of the twelve Shlikhim are these: the first of them is Shimon who is called Kefa, and Andrai his brother; Ya’akov Bar Zavdai, and Yokhanan his brother; 3Filipos and Bar Talmai, T’oma and Matai the publican, Ya’akov Ben Khalfai, and Labai surnamed Taddai; 4Shimon the Kanai, and Yehudah Sekharyotah, who betrayed Him. 5These twelve Yeshua sent out, and charged them and said, “Keep away from pagan practices, and do not enter a city of Shomron; 6but above all, go to the sheep which are lost from Beit Yisra’el. 7And as you go, declare and say that Malkhut HaShamayim is near. 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons; freely you have received, freely give. 9Do not accumulate gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses; 10nor a bag for the journey, nor two shirts and shoes, nor a staff; for a laborer is at least worthy of his food. 11Whatever city or town you enter, ask who is trustworthy in it, and remain there until you leave. 12And when you enter into the house, ask for shalom for that house. 13And if the house is worthy, your shalom shall come upon it; but if it is not worthy, your shalom shall return to you. 14Whoever will not welcome you, and will not listen to your words, when you leave the house or the village, shake off the dust from your feet. 15Truly I say to you that it will be easier for the land of S’dom and Amorah on Yom HaDin than for that city.”
16“Behold, I am sending you like lambs among the wolves; therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But be careful of men; for they will deliver you up to the courts, and they will scourge you in their Beit K’nessets; 18and they will bring you before the presence of governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Goyim. 19But when they deliver you up, do not worry as to how or what you will speak; for it will be given to you in that very hour what you are to speak. 20For it is not you who speaks, but the Ru’akh of Avikhem, which speaks through you. 21Brother will deliver up his own brother to death, and father his son; and children will rise up against their parents and put them to death. 22And you will be hated by everybody because of My Name; but he who endures until the end shall live. 23When they persecute you in this city, escape to another; for truly I say to you, that you shall not finish converting all the cities of Beit Yisra’el until Ben HaAdam returns. 24No talmid is more important than his Rabbi, and no servant than his Adon. 25It is enough for a talmid to be like his Rabbi, and for a servant to be like his Adon. If, then, they have called the Adon of the house “Ba’al Zevuv,” how much more those of His household? 26Therefore, do not be afraid of them; for there is nothing covered that will not be uncovered, and hidden that will not be known. 27What I tell you in the dark, tell it in the daylight; and what you hear with your ears, declare on the house tops. 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but who cannot kill the nefesh; but above all, be afraid of Him who can destroy both the nefesh and the body in Gehinom. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall on the ground without your Father’s will. 30But so far as you are concerned, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Therefore, fear not; you are much more important than many sparrows. 32Everyone therefore who will acknowledge me before men, I will also acknowledge him before Avi Sh’baShamayim. 33But whoever will deny me before men, I will also deny him before Avi Sh’baShamayim.”
34“Do not expect that I have come to bring serenity on earth; I have not come to bring serenity, but a sword. 35For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36And a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. 37Whoever loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38And whoever does not take up his stake and follow Me is not worthy of me. 39He who is concerned about his life shall lose it; and he who loses his life for My sake shall find it. 40Whoever receives you, receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives Him who sent me.
41He who receives a Navi in the name of a Navi, shall receive the reward of a Navi; and whoever receives a Tzadik in the name of a Tzadik, shall receive the reward of a Tzadik. 42Anyone who gives a drink to one of these little ones, if only a cup of cold water, in the name of a talmid, truly I say to you, he shall never lose his reward.”
אוַיִּקְרָא אֵלָיו אֶת שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר תַּלְמִידָיו וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם שִׁלְטוֹן עַל הָרוּחוֹת הַטְּמֵאוֹת לְגָרֲשֵׁם וְלִרְפּוֹא כָּל כְּאֵב וּמַחֲלָה. בוְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר הַשְׁלִיחִים הָרִאשׁוֹן שִׁמְעוֹן הַנִּקְרָא כֵּיפָא וְאַנְדְּרַי אָחִיו יַעֲקֹב בֶּן זַבְדַּי וְיוֹחָנָן אָחִיו. גפִילִפּוֹס וּבַר תַּלְמַי תְאוֹמָא וּמַתַּי הַמּוֹכֵס יַעֲקֹב בֶּן חַלְפַי וְלַבַּי הַמְכֻנֶּה תַדָּי. דשִׁמְעוֹן הַקַּנָּי וִיהוּדָה סְכַרְיוֹטָה אֲשֶׁר מָסַר אוֹתוֹ. האֶת שְׁנֵים הֶעָשָׁר הָאֵלֶּה שָׁלַח יֵשׁוּעַ וַיְצַו אֹתָם לֵאמֹר אֶל דֶּרֶךְ עוֹבְדֵי הָאֱלִילִים אַל תֵּלֵכוּ וְאֶל עִיר הַשֹׁמְרוֹנִים אַל תָּבֹאוּ. ולְכוּ אֶל הַצֹּאן הָאֹבְדוֹת אֲשֶׁר לְבֵית יִשְׂרָאֵל. זוּבְלֶכְתְּכֶם הַכְרִיזוּ וְאִמְרוּ שֶׁקָּרְבָה מַלְכוּת הַשָּׁמַיִם. חרִפְאוּ אֵת הַחוֹלִים טַהֲרוּ אֵת הַמְּצֹרָעִים וְאֵת הַשֵׁדִים גָּרֵשׁוּ חִנָּם לְקַחְתֶּם חִנָּם תִּתֵּנוּ. טלֹא תִקְחוּ זָהָב וְלֹא כֶסֶף וְלֹא נְחשֶׁת בַּחֲגוֹרֵיכֶם. יוְלֹא תַרְמִיל לַדֶּרֶךְ וְלֹא שְׁתֵּי כֻתָּנוֹת וְלֹא נַעֲלַיִם וְלֹא מַקֵּל כִּי רָאוּי לַפֹּעֵל דֵּי מִחְיָתוֹ. יאוְכָל עִיר וּכְפָר אֲשֶׁר תָּבֹאוּ שָׁמָּה דִּרְשׁוּ מִי רָאוּי בְּתוֹכָם וְשָׁם שְׁבוּ עַד צֵאתְכֶם. יבוּבְבוֹאֲכֶם אֶל הַבָּיִת שַׁאֲלוּ לְשָׁלוֹם הַבַּיִת. יגוְהָיָה אִם רָאוּי הַבַּיִת יָבוֹא עָלָיו שְׁלוֹמְכֶם וְאִם אֵינֶנּוּ רָאוּי שְׁלוֹמְכֶם אֲלֵיכֶם יָשׁוּב. ידוְכֹל אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְקַבֵּל אֶתְכֶם וְלֹא יִשְׁמַע לְדִבְרֵיכֶם וִיצָאתֶם מִן הַבַּיִת הַהוּא וּמִן הָעִיר הַהִיא וּנְעַרְתֶּם אֶת הָאָבָק רַגְלֵיכֶם. טואָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם כִּי יֵקַל לְאֶרֶץ סְדוֹם וַעֲמֹרָה בְּיוֹם הַדִּין מִן הָעִיר הַהִיא.
טזהִנֵּה אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ אֶתְכֶם כִּשְׁלֹחַ כְּבָשִׂים בֵּין זְאֵבִים לָכֵן הֱיוּ חֲכָמִים כַּנְּחָשִׁים וּתְמִימִים כַּיּוֹנִים. יזוְהִשָׁמְרוּ לָכֶם מִבְּנֵי הָאָדָם כִּי יִמְסְרוּ אֶתְכֶם לְבָתֵּי הַמִּשְׁפָּט וּבְבָתֵּי כְּנֵסִיּוֹתֵיהֶם יַלְקוּ אֶתְכֶם. יחוְלִפְנֵי מֹשְׁלִים וּמְלָכִים תּוּבְאוּ לְמַעֲנִי לְעֵדוּת לָהֶם וְלַגּוֹיִם. יטוְכִי יִמְסְרוּ אֶתְכֶם אַל תִּדְאֲגוּ אֵיךְ תְּדַבְּרוּ וּמֶה תְּדַבֵּרוּ כִּי יִנָּתֵן לָכֶם בַּשָׁעָה הַהִיא אֵת אֲשֶׁר תְּדַבֵּרוּן. ככִּי לֹא אַתֶּם הֵם הַמְדַבְּרִים כִּי רוּחַ אֲבִיכֶם הוּא הַמְדַבֵּר בְּפִיכֶם. כאוְאָח יִמְסֹר אֶת אָחִיו לַמָּוֶת וְאָב יִמְסֹר אֶת בְּנוֹ וְקָמוּ בָנִים בַּאֲבוֹתָם וְיָמִיתוּ אוֹתָם. כבוִהְיִיתֶם שְׂנוּאִים לְכָל אָדָם לְמַעַן שְׁמִי וְהָעוֹמֵד עַד קֵץ הוּא יִחְיֶה. כגוְאִם יִרְדְּפוּ אֶתְכֶם בְּעִיר זוֹ נוּסוּ לְעִיר אַחֶרֶת כִּי אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם לֹּא תִּגְמְרוּ אֶת כָּל עָרֵי בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד כִּי יָבוֹא בֶן הָאָדָם. כדאֵין תַּלְמִיד נַעֲלֶה עַל רַבּוֹ וְעֶבֶד עַל אֲדֹנָיו. כהדַּיּוֹ לַתַּלְמִיד לִהְיוֹת כְּרַבּוֹ וְלָעֶבֶד לִהְיוֹת כַּאדֹנָיו אִם לְבַעַל הַבַּיִת קָרְאוּ בַּעַל זְבוּב אַף כִּי לְבְנֵי בֵּיתוֹ? כועַל כֵּן לֹא תִירְאוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶם כִּי אֵין דָּבָר מְכֻסֶּה אֲשֶׁר לֹא יִגָּלֶה וְאֵין נִסְתָּר אֲשֶׁר לֹא יִוָּדֵעַ. כזאֵת אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָכֶם בַּחשֶׁךְ דַּבְּרוּ בָאוֹר וַאֲשֶׁר יִלָּחֵשׁ לְאָזְנֵיכֶם הַשְׁמִיעוּ מֵעַל הַגַּגּוֹת. כחוְאַל תִּירְאוּ מִן הַהֹרְגִים אֶת הַגּוּף וְאֶת הַנֶּפֶשׁ לֹא יוּכְלוּ לַהֲרֹג אַךְ תִּירְאוּ אֵת אֲשֶׁר יוּכַל לְאַבֵּד גַּם אֶת הַנֶּפֶשׁ גַּם אֶת הַגּוּף בְּגֵיהִנֹּם. כטהֲלֹא תִמָּכַרְנָה שְׁתֵּי צִפֳּרִים בְּאִסָּר וְאַחַת מֵהֵנָּה לֹא תִּפּוֹל אַרְצָה מִבַּלְעֲדֵי אֲבִיכֶם. לוְאַתֶּם גַּם שַׂעֲרוֹת רֹאשְׁכֶם נִמְנוֹת כֻּלָּן. לאלָכֵן אַל תִּירָאוּ מִצִּפֳּרִים רַבּוֹת חֲשׁוּבִים אַתֶּם. לבהֵן כָּל אֲשֶׁר יוֹדֶה בִי לִפְנֵי הָאָדָם אוֹדֶה בּוֹ גַם אָנִי לִפְנֵי אָבִי שֶׁבַּשָׁמָיִם. לגוַאֲשֶׁר יִּכְפֹּר בִּי לִפְנֵי הָאָדָם אֶכְפֹּר בּוֹ גַם אָנִי לִפְנֵי אָבִי שֶׁבַּשָׁמָיִם.
לדאַל תַּחְשְׁבוּ כִּי בָאתִי לְהָטִיל שַׁלְוָה בָּאָרֶץ לֹא בָאתִי לְהָטִיל שַׁלְוָה כִּי אִם חָרֶב. להכִּי בָאתִי לְפַלֵּג בֵּין אִישׁ וְאָבִיו וּבֵין בַּת וְאִמָּהּ וּבֵין כַּלָּה וַחֲמוֹתָהּ. לווְאֹיְבֵי אִישׁ בְּנֵי בֵיתוֹ. לזהָאֹהֵב אֶת אָבִיו וְאֶת אִמּוֹ יוֹתֵר מִמֶּנִּי אֵינוֹ כְדַי לִי וְהָאֹהֵב אֶת בְּנוֹ וּבִתּוֹ יוֹתֵר מִמֶּנִּי אֵינוֹ כְדַי לִי. לחוַאֲשֶׁר לֹא יִקַּח אֶת צְלוּבוֹ וְהָלַךְ אַחֲרָי אֵינוֹ כְדַי לִי. לטהַמֹּצֵא אֶת נַפְשׁוֹ יְאַבְּדֶנָּה וְהַמְאַבֵּד אֶת נַפְשׁוֹ לְמַעֲנִי הוּא יִמְצָאֶנָּה. מהַמְקַבֵּל אֶתְכֶם אוֹתִי הוּא מְקַבֵּל וְהַמְקַבֵּל אוֹתִי הוּא מְקַבֵּל אֵת אֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחָנִי.
מאהַמְקַבֵּל נָבִיא לְשֵׁם נָבִיא שְׂכַר נָבִיא יִקָּח וְהַמְקַבֵּל צַדִּיק לְשֵׁם צַדִּיק שְׂכַר צַדִּיק יִקָּח. מבוְהַמַּשְׁקֶה אֶת אַחַד הַקְּטַנִּים הָאֵלֶּה רַק כּוֹס מַיִם קָרִים לְשֵׁם תַּלְמִיד אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם כִּי לֹא יֹאבַד שְׂכָרוֹ.
