1When Yeshua had finished commanding His twelve Talmidim, He departed from that place to teach and to declare in their cities. 2But when Yokhanan heard in prison of the works of Mashi’akh, he sent by his talmidim, 3and said to Him, “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to expect another?” 4Yeshua answered and said, “Go and describe to Yokhanan the things which you see and hear. 5The blind see, and the lame walk, and the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead rise up, and the poor are given hope. 6And happy is he who does not stumble on account of me.”
7When they went away, Yeshua began to speak to the people concerning Yokhanan, “What did you go out to the wilderness to see? A reed which is shaken by the wind? 8If not so, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Behold those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ houses. 9And if not so, what then did you go out to see? A Navi? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a Navi. 10For this is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, to prepare the way before you.’”
11“Truly I say to you that among those who are born of women, there has never risen one who is greater than Yokhanan HaMatbil; and yet even the least person in Malkhut HaShamayim is greater than he. 12From the days of Yokhanan HaMatbil until now, Malkhut HaShamayim is attacked with force, and the violent ones snatch it away. 13For all the Nevi’im and the Torah prophesied until Yokhanan. 14And if you wish to accept it, he is Eli-Yahu who was to come. 15He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
16“But to whom shall I liken this generation? It is like boys who sit in the street and call to their friends. 17And they say, ‘We have sung to you, but you would not dance; and we have wailed to you, but you did not mourn.’ 18For Yokhanan came, neither eating nor drinking, and they said he is crazy. 19Ben HaAdam came, eating and drinking, and they said, ‘Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, and a friend of publicans and sinners.’ And yet wisdom is justified by its works.”
20Then Yeshua began to reproach the cities in which His many works were done, and which did not repent. And He said, 21“Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Beit Tza’ida! For if in Tzor and Tzidan had been done the works which were done in you, they might have repented in sackcloth and ashes. 22But I say to you, it will be easier for Tzor and Tzidan in Yom HaDin, than for you. 23And you, K’far Nakhum, which have exalted yourself up to heaven, you shall be brought down to She’ol; for if in S’dom had been done the works which were done in you, it would be standing to this day. 24But I say to you, it will be easier for the land of S’dom in Yom HaDin, than for you.”
25At that time, Yeshua answered and said, “‘I thank you, O Avi, Adon of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the men of understanding, and you have revealed them to children. 26O yes, Avi, for such was your will.’ 27Everything has been delivered to me by Avi, and no man knows HaBen except HaAv, nor does any man know HaAv but HaBen, and he to whomever HaBen wishes to reveal Him.”
28“Come to me, all you who are tired out and carrying burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and meek in my heart, and you will find rest to your nefeshot. 30For my yoke is very pleasant, and my burden is light.”
אוַיְהִי כְּכַלּוֹת יֵשׁוּעַ לְצַוֹּת אֶת שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר תַּלְמִידָיו וַיֵּלֶךְ מִשָׁם לְלַמֵּד וְלִקְרֹא בְּעָרֵיהֶם. בוְיוֹחָנָן שָׁמַע בְּבֵית הָאֲסוּרִים אֶת מַעֲשֵׂי הַמָּשִׁיחַ וַיִּשְׁלַח שְׁנַיִם מִתַּלְמִידָיו. גוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אַתָּה הוּא הַבָּא, אוֹ לְאַחֵר נְחַכֶּה? דוַיַּעַן יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם לְכוּ סַפְּרוּ לְיוֹחָנָן אֶת אֲשֶׁר שְׁמַעְתֶּם וְאֶת אֲשֶׁר רְאִיתֶם. העִוְרִים רֹאִים וּפִסְחִים מְהַלְּכִים מְצֹרָעִים מְטֹהָרִים וְחֵרְשִׁים שׁוֹמְעִים וּמֵתִים קָמִים וַעֲנִיִּים מִתְבַּשְׁרִים. ווְאַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא יִכָּשֵׁל בִּי.
זהֵמָּה הָלְכוּ וְיֵשׁוּעַ הֵחֵל לְדַבֵּר אֶל הֲמוֹן הָעָם עַל אֹדוֹת יוֹחָנָן וַיֹּאמַר מַה זֶּה יְצָאתֶם הַמִּדְבָּרָה לִרְאוֹת? הֲקָנֶה אֲשֶׁר יִנּוֹע בָּרוּחַ? חוְאִם לָאו מַה זֶּה יְצָאתֶם לִרְאוֹת? הַאִישׁ לָבוּשׁ בִּגְדֵי עֲדִינִים? הִנֵּה הַלּבְשִׁים עֲדָנִים בְּבָתֵּי הַמְּלָכִים הֵמָּה. טוְאִם לָאו מַה זֶּה יְצָאתֶם לִרְאוֹת? נָבִיא? אָכֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם אַף יוֹתֵר מִנָּבִיא. יכִּי זֶּה הוּא אֲשֶׁר כָּתוּב עָלָיו הִנְנִי שׁוֹלֵחַ מַלְאָכִי לְפָנֶיךָ וּפִנָּה דֶּרֶךְ לְפָנֶיךָ.
יאאָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם לֹא קָם בִּילוּדֵי אִשָׁה גָּדוֹל מִיּוֹחָנָן הַמַּטְבִּיל וְהַקָּטֹן בְּמַלְכוּת הַשָׁמַיִם גָּדוֹל הוּא מִמֶּנּוּ. יבוּמִימֵי יוֹחָנָן הַמַּטְבִּיל וְעַד הֵנָּה מַלְכוּת הַשָׁמַיִם נִלְקַחַת בְּכֹחַ וְהַחֲזָקִים חוֹטְפִים אוֹתָהּ. יגכִּי כָל הַנְּבִיאִים וְהַתּוֹרָה עַד יוֹחָנָן נִבָּאוּ. ידוְאִם תִּרְצוּ לְקַבֵּל הִנֵּה הוּא אֵלִיָּה הֶעָתִיד לָבוֹא. טומִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ אָזְנַיִם לִשְׁמֹעַ, יִשְׁמַע!
טזוְאֶל מִי אֲדַמֶּה אֶת הַדּוֹר הַזֶּה? דּוֹמֶה הוּא לִנְעָרִים הַיֹּשְׁבִים בָּרְחוֹב וְצוֹעֲקִים לְחַבְרֵיהֶם לֵאמֹר: יזשָׁרְנוּ לָכֶם וְלֹא רִקַּדְתֶּם יִלַּלְנוּ לָכֶם וְלֹא סְפַדְתֶּם. יחכִּי בָא יוֹחָנָן וְהוּא לֹא אֹכֵל וְלֹא שֹׁתֶה וַיֹּאמְרוּ שֵׁד בּוֹ. יטוַיָּבֹא בֶן הָאָדָם אֹכֵל וְשֹׁתֶה וְהֵם אֹמְרִים הִנֵּה אִישׁ זוֹלֵל וְשׁוֹתֵה יַיִן, וִידִיד הַמוֹכְסִים וְחַטָּאִים וְנִצְדְּקָה הַחָכְמָה בְּמַעֲשֶׂיהָ.
כאָז הֵחֵל לִגְעֹר הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר רֹב גְּבוּרוֹתָיו נַעֲשׂוּ בְתוֹכָן וְלֹא שָׁבוּ. כאאוֹי לָךְ כּוֹרָזִין! אוֹי לָךְ בֵּית צַיְדָה! כִּי הַגְּבוּרוֹת אֲשֶׁר נַעֲשׂוּ בְקִרְבְּכֶן לוּ בְּצוֹר וּבְצִידוֹן נַעֲשׂוּ הֲלֹא כְבָר שָׁבוּ בְּשַׂק וָאֵפֶר. כבאֲבָל אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָכֶם כִּי בְּיוֹם הַדִּין יִהְיֶה נוֹחַ לְצוֹר וְצִידוֹן יוֹתֵר מֵאֲשֶׁר לָכֶן. כגוְאַתְּ כְּפַר נַחוּם הַמְרוֹמָמָה עַד הַשָׁמַיִם עַד שְׁאוֹל תּוּרָדִי כִּי הַגְּבוּרוֹת אֲשֶׁר נַעֲשׂוּ בְתוֹכֵךְ לוּ בִסְדוֹם נַעֲשׂוּ הָיְתָה עוֹמֶדֶת עַד הַיּוֹם. כדאֲבָל אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָכֶם כִּי לְּאֶרֶץ סְדוֹם יִהְיֶה נוֹחַ בְּיוֹם הַדִּין יוֹתֵר מֵאֲשֶׁר לָךְ.
כהבָּעֵת הַהִיא עָנָה יֵשׁוּעַ וְאָמַר אוֹדְךָ אָבִי אֲדוֹן הַשָׁמַיִם וְהָאָרֶץ כִּי הִסְתַּרְתָּ אֶת הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה מִן הַחֲכָמִים וְהַנְּבוֹנִים וְגִלִּיתָם לָעוֹלֲלִים. כוהֵן אָבִי כִּי כֵן הָיָה רָצוֹן לְפָנֶיךָ. כזהַכֹּל נִמְסַר לִי מֵאֵת אָבִי וְאֵין מַכִּיר אֶת הַבֵּן בִּלְתִּי הָאָב וְאֵין מַכִּיר אֶת הָאָב בִּלְתִּי הַבֵּן וַאֲשֶׁר שֶׁרוֹצֶה הַבֵּן לְגַלּוֹת לוֹ.
כחבּוֹאוּ אֵלַי כָּל הַיְגֵעִים וְהַטְּעוּנִים וַאֲנִי אָנִיחַ לָכֶם. כטקְחוּ אֶת עֻלִי וְלִמְדוּ מִמֶּנִּי כִּי נוֹחַ אֲנִי וְעָנָו בְּלִבִּי וּמִצְאוּ מְנוּחָה לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם. לכִּי עֻלִּי נָעִים וְקַל מַשָּׂאִי.
