1When Yeshua was born in Beit Lekhem of Y’hudah, in the days of Herodus the king, there came M’gushim from the East to Yerushalayim. 2And they were saying, “Where is the King of the Yehudim who has been born? For we have seen His star in the East, so we have come to worship Him.” 3But when Herodus the king heard it, he trembled, and all Yerushalayim with him. 4So he gathered together all the Kohanim and the Sofrim of the people, and he kept asking them where the Mashi’akh would be born. 5They said, “In Beit Lekhem of Y’hudah, for thus it is written in the book of the Navi: 6‘Even you, Beit Lekhem of Y’hudah, you are not insignificant in the eyes of the kings of Y’hudah, for from you shall come out a king who will shepherd my people Yisra’el.’” 7Then Herodus called the M’gushim secretly, and he learned from them at what time the star appeared to them. 8And he sent them to Beit Lekhem, and said to them, “Go and enquire very carefully concerning the boy, and when you have found Him, come back and let me know, so that I also may go and worship Him.” 9When they had heard from the king, they went away; and behold, the same star that they had seen in the east was going before them, until it came and stood just above the place where the infant boy was. 10When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly. 11And they entered the house, and they saw the infant boy with Miryam, His mother; and they threw themselves down and worshipped Him; and they opened their treasures and offered to Him gifts – gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. 12And they saw in a dream not to return to Herodus, so they departed to their own country by another way. 13When they had gone, a messenger of יהוה appeared to Yosef in a dream, and said to him, “Arise, take the infant boy and His mother, and escape to Mitzrayim, and stay there until I tell you, for Herodus is ready to demand the child so as to destroy Him.” 14Then Yosef rose up, took the infant boy and His mother in the night, and escaped to Mitzrayim. 15And he remained there until the death of Herodus, so that what was said from יהוה by the Navi might be fulfilled, “I have called my son from Mitzrayim.”
16When Herodus saw that he was insulted by the M’gushim, he was greatly enraged, so he sent forth and had all the infant boys in Beit Lekhem and in its borders killed, from two years old and down, according to the time that he had enquired from the M’gushim. 17Then was fulfilled what was said by the Navi Yirme-Yahu who said, 18“A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and wailing exceedingly, Rakhel weeping for her sons, and she would not be comforted, because they could not be brought back.”
19When King Herodus died, a messenger of יהוה appeared in a dream to Yosef in Mitzrayim. 20And he said to him, “Arise, take the boy and His mother, and go to the land of Yisra’el, for those who were seeking the boy’s life are dead. 21So Yosef rose up, took the boy and His mother, and he came to the land of Yisra’el. 22But when he heard that Archelaus had become king over Y’hudah in the place of his father Herodus, he was afraid to go there; and it was revealed to him in a dream to go to the land of the Galil. 23And he came and dwelt in a city called Natzrat, so that what was said by the Nevi’im might be fulfilled, “He shall be called a Natzri.”
אוַיְהִי בִּימֵי הוֹרְדוֹס הַמֶּלֶךְ כַּאֲשֶׁר נוֹלַד יֵשׁוּעַ בְּבֵית לֶחֶם יְהוּדָה וַיָּבֹאוּ מְגוּשִׁים מֵאֶרֶץ מִזְרָח יְרוּשָׁלָיִם. בוַיֹּאמְרוּ אַיֵּה מֶלֶךְ הַיְּהוּדִים אֲשֶׁר יֻלַּד כִּי רָאִינוּ אֶת כּוֹכָבוֹ בַּמִּזְרָח וַנָּבֹא לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לוֹ. גוַיְהִי כִּשְׁמֹעַ הוֹרְדוֹס הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת דִּבְרֵיהֶם וַיֶּחֱרַד הוּא וְכָל יְרוּשָׁלַיִם עִמּוֹ. דוַיַּקְהֵל אֶת כָּל רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְסוֹפְרֵי הָעָם וַיִּשְׁאַל אֹתָם לֵאמֹר אֵיפֹה יִוָּלֵד הַמָּשִׁיחַ. הוַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ בְּבֵית לֶחֶם יְהוּדָה כִּי כֵן כָּתוּב בְּיַד הַנָּבִיא׃ ווְאַתָּה בֵּית לֶחֶם אֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה אֵינְךָ צָעִיר בְּאַלֻּפֵי יְהוּדָה כִּי מִמְּךָ יֵצֵא מוֹשֵׁל אֲשֶׁר יִרְעֶה אֶת עַמִּי יִשְׂרָאֵל. זאָז קָרָא הוֹרְדוֹס לַמְּגוּשׁים בַּסֵּתֶר וַיַּחְקֹר לָדַעַת הָעֵת אֲשֶׁר נִרְאָה הַכּוֹכָב. חוַיִּשְׁלָחֵם בֵּית לֶחֶם וַיֹּאמַר לְכוּ חִקְרוּ הֵיטֵב עַל דְּבַר הַנָּעַר וְהָיָה כִּי תִמְצְאוּן אֹתוֹ וְהִגַּדְתֶּם לִי וְאָבֹאָה לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לוֹ גַּם אָנִי. טוַיְהִי כְּשָׁמְעָם אֶת דִּבְרֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיֵּלֵכוּ וְהִנֵּה הַכּוֹכָב אֲשֶׁר רָאוּ בַמִּזְרָח הָלַךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם עַד אֲשֶׁר בָּא וַיַּעֲמֹד מִמַּעַל לַאֲשֶׁר הָיָה שָׁם הַיָּלֶד. יוַיִּרְאוּ אֶת הַכּוֹכָב וַיִּשְׂמְחוּ שִׂמְחָה גְדוֹלָה עַד מְאֹד. יאוַיָּבֹאוּ הַבַּיְתָה וַיִּמְצְאוּ אֶת הַיֶּלֶד עִם מִרְיָם אִמּוֹ וַיִּפְּלוּ עַל פְּנֵיהֶם וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ לוֹ וַיִּפְתְּחוּ אֶת אוֹצְרוֹתָם וַיַּקְרִיבוּ לוֹ מִנְחָה זָהָב וּלְבוֹנָה וָמֹר. יבוַיְצֻוּוּ בַחֲלוֹם לְבִלְתִּי שׁוּב אֶל הוֹרְדוֹס וַיֵּלְכוּ בְּדֶרֶךְ אַחֵר אֶל אַרְצָם. יגהֵם הָלְכוּ מִשָׁם וְהִנֵּה מַלְאַךְ יהוה נִרְאָה אֶל יוֹסֵף בַּחֲלוֹם לֵאמֹר קוּם קַח אֶת הַיֶּלֶד וְאֶת אִמּוֹ וּבְרַח לְךָ מִצְרַיְמָה וֶהְיֵה שָׁם עַד אִם אָמַרְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ כִּי הוֹרְדוֹס מְבַקֵּשׁ אֶת נֶפֶשׁ הַנַּעַר לְקַחְתָּהּ. ידוַיָּקָם וַיִּקַּח אֶת הַיֶּלֶד וְאֶת אִמּוֹ לָיְלָה וַיִּבְרַח מִצְרָיְמָה. טווַיְהִי שָׁם עַד מוֹת הוֹרְדוֹס לְמַלּאת אֶת דְּבַר יהוה בְּיַד הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר מִמִּצְרַיִם קָרָאתִי לִבְנִי.
טזוַיַּרְא הוֹרְדוֹס כִּי הֵתֵלּוּ בוֹ הַמְּגוּשִׁים וַיִּקְצֹף מְאֹד וַיִּשְׁלַח וַיַּהֲרֹג אֶת כָּל הַיְלָדִים אֲשֶׁר בְּבֵית לֶחֶם וּבְכָל גְּבוּלֶיהָ לְמִבֶּן שְׁנָתַיִם וּלְמָטָּה לְפִי הָעֵת אֲשֶׁר חָקַר מִפִּי הַמְּגוּשִׁים. יזאָז הוּקַם הַנֶּאֱמָר בְּפִי יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר׃ יהקוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע נְהִי וּבְכִי תַמְרוּרִים רָחֵל מְבַכָּה עַל בָּנֶיהָ מֵאֲנָה לְהִנָּחֵם עַל בָּנֶיהָ כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ.
יטוַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי מוֹת הוֹרְדוֹס וְהִנֵּה מַלְאַךְ יהוה נִרְאָה בַחֲלוֹם אֶל יוֹסֵף בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם. כוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו קוּם קַח אֶת הַיֶּלֶד וְאֶת אִמּוֹ וְלֵךְ שׁוּב אֶל אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי מֵתוּ הַמְבַקְּשִׁים אֶת נֶפֶשׁ הַיָּלֶד. כאוַיָּקָם וַיִּקַח אֶת הַיֶּלֶד וְאֶת אִמּוֹ וַיָּבֹא אַרְצָה יִשְׂרָאֵל. כבוּכְשָׁמְעוֹ כִּי אַרְכְלוֹס מָלַךְ בִּיהוּדָה תַּחַת הוֹרְדוֹס אָבִיו וַיִּירָא לָלֶכֶת שָׁמָּה וַיְצֻוֶּה בַחֲלוֹם וַיֵּלֵךְ לוֹ אֶל אַרְצוֹת הַגָּלִיל. כגוַיָּבֹא וַיֵשֶׁב בְּעִיר הַנִּקְרֵאת נָצְרַת לְמַלּאת הַדָּבָר הַנֶּאֱמָר עַל פִּי הַנְּבִיאִים כִּי נָצְרִי יִקָּרֵא לוֹ.
