1“For Malkhut HaShamayim is like a man, who is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2He bargained with the laborers for a denarius a day, and sent them to his vineyard. 3And he went out at the third hour and saw others standing idle in the market place. 4And he said to them, ‘You also go to the vineyard, and I will give you what is right.’ And they went. 5And he went out again at the sixth and at the ninth hour, and did the same. 6And towards the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and he said to them, ‘Why do you stand all day idle?’ 7They said to him, ‘Because no man has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘you also go to the vineyard, and you will receive what is right.’ 8When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages; and begin from the last ones to the first.’ 9When those of the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius. 10But when the first ones came, they expected to receive more; but they also got each one denarius. 11And when they received it, they murmured against the householder, 12saying, ‘These last ones have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal with us who have borne the weight of the day and its heat.’ 13He answered and said to one of them, ‘My friend, I am not doing you an injustice; did you not bargain with me for a denarius? 14Take what is yours and go away; I wish to give to this last one the same as to you. 15Have I no right to do what I wish with my own? Or are you jealous because I am generous?’ 16Even so the last shall be first, and the first last; for many are called, but few are chosen.”
17Now Yeshua was ready to go up to Yerushalayim; and He took his twelve Talmidim apart on the road, and He said to them, 18“Behold, we are going up to Yerushalayim, and Ben HaAdam will be delivered to the chief Kohanim and the Sofrim, and they will condemn Him to death. 19And they will deliver Him to the Goyim and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and execute Him; and on the third day He will rise up.”
20Then the mother of the sons of Zavdai came up to Him, together with her sons; and she worshipped Him, and requested something of Him. 21He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Command that these two sons of mine sit, one at Your right and one at Your left, in Your Malkhut. 22Yeshua answered and said, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I am ready to drink, or be immersed with the immersion with which I am to be immersed?” They said to Him, “We can.” 23He said to them, “Indeed, My cup you shall drink, and the immersion with which I am to be immersed, you too shall be immersed with; but to sit at my right hand and at my left, that is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by Avi.” 24When the ten heard it, they were angry at the two brothers. 25And Yeshua called them and said, “You know that the princes of the people are also their owners; and their officials rule over them. 26Let not this be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you, let him be a servant to you; 27and whoever wishes to be first among you, let him be a servant to you; 28just as Ben HaAdam did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for the sake of many.”
29And when Yeshua went out of Yerekho, a large crowd followed Him. 30And behold, two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Yeshua was passing by, they cried aloud, saying, “Have mercy upon us, Adon, Ben David.” 31But the people rebuked them to keep quiet; but they cried louder, saying, “Adoneinu, have mercy upon us, Ben David.” 32And Yeshua stopped and called them, and He said, “What do you wish me to do for you?” 33They said to Him, “Adoneinu, that our eyes may be opened.” 34And Yeshua had mercy upon them, so He touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes were opened, and they followed Him.
אכִּי דוֹמָה מַלְכוּת הַשָׁמַיִם לְאִישׁ בַּעַל בָּיִת אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁכִּים בַּבֹּקֶר וַיֵּצֵא לִשְׂכֹּר פֹּעֲלִים לְכַרְמוֹ. בוַיִּפְסַק עִם הַפֹּעֲלִים דִּינָר לַיּוֹם וַיִּשְׁלָחֵם אֶל כַּרְמוֹ. גוַיֵּצֵא בַּשָׁעָה הַשְׁלִישִׁית וַיַּרְא אֲחֵרִים עֹמְדִים בְּטֵלִים בַּשּׁוּק. דוַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם לְכוּ גַם אַתֶּם אֶל כַּרְמִי וַאֲנִי אֶתֵּן לָכֶם מַה שֶּׁרָאוּי יֵּלֵכוּ. הוַיֵּצֵא גַּם בַּשָׁעָה הַשִׁשִׁית גַּם בַּתְּשִׁיעִית וַּיַעַשׂ כַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה. ווַיֵּצֵא בִּשְׁעַת עַשְׁתֵּי עֶשְׂרֵה וַיִּמְצָא אֲחֵרִים עֹמְדִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לָמָה אַתֶּם עֹמְדִים פֹּה בְּטֵלִים כָּל הַיּוֹם. זוַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ כִּי לֹא שָׂכַר אוֹתָנוּ אִישׁ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לְכוּ גַם אַתֶּם אֶל הַכֶּרֶם וּמַה שֶּׁרָאוּי תּקְחוּ. חוַיְהִי בָעֶרֶב וַיֹּאמֶר בַּעַל הַכֶּרֶם לִמְנַהֵל בֵּיתוֹ קְרָא אֶת הַפֹּעֲלִים וְתֵן לָהֶם אֶת שְׂכָרָם וְהָחֵל מִן הָאַחֲרוֹנִים עַד הָרִאשׁוֹנִים. טוַיָּבֹאוּ הַנִּשְׂכָּרִים בִּשְׁעַת אַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה וַיִּקְחוּ אִישׁ אִישׁ דִּינָר דִּינָר. יוּבְבֹא הָרִאשׁוֹנִים דִּמּוּ בְנַפְשָׁם כִּי יִקְחוּ יוֹתֵר וַיִּקְחוּ דִּינָר דִּינָר גַּם הֵם. יאוַיְהִי בְקַחְתָּם וַיִּלּוֹנוּ עַל בַּעַל הַבַּיִת יב לֵאמֹר אֵלֶּה הָאַחֲרוֹנִים לֹא עָבְדוּ כִּי אִם שָׁעָה אֶחָת וְאַתָּה הִשְׁוִיתָ אֹתָם לָנוּ אֲשֶׁר סָבַלְנוּ אֶת כֹּבֶד הַיּוֹם וְחֻמּוֹ. יגוַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל אֶחָד מֵהֶם יְדִידִי אֵינֶנִּי עוֹשֶׂה לְךָ עָוֶל הֲלֹא דִינָר הִסְכַּמְתָּ אִתִּי? ידקַח אֶת שֶׁלְּךָ וָלֵךְ בְּרַם רוֹצֶה אֲנִי שֶׁאֶתֵּן לָזֶה הָאַחֲרוֹן כָּמוֹךָ. טוהֲלֹא אוּכַל לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּשֶׁלִּי כִּרְצוֹנִי? הַאִם תֵּרַע עֵינְךָ עַל אֲשֶׁר טוֹב אָנִי? טזכֵּן יִהְיוּ הָאַחֲרוֹנִים רִאשׁוֹנִים וְהָרִאשׁוֹנִים יִהְיוּ אַחֲרוֹנִים כִּי רַבִּים הֵם הַקְּרוּאִים וּמְעַטִּים הַנִּבְחָרִים.
יזיֵשׁוּעַ הִתְעַתֵּד לַעֲלוֹת לִיְרוּשָׁלַיִם וַיִּקַּח בַּדֶּרֶךְ אֶת שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר תַּלְמִידָיו לְבַדָּם וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם. יחהִנְנוּ עֹלִים לִירוּשָׁלַיִם וּבֶן הָאָדָם יִמָּסֵר לְרָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְלַסּוֹפְרִים וְהִרְשִׁיעֻהוּ לַמָּוֶת. יטוּמָסְרוּ אוֹתוֹ לַגּוֹיִם לְהָתֵל בּוֹ וְיַלְקוּהוּ וְיִצְלְבוּהוּ וּבַיּוֹם הַשְׁלִישִׁי יָקוּם.
כאָז נִגְּשָׁה אֵלָיו אֵם בְּנֵי זַבְדַּי עִם בָּנֶיהָ וַתִּשְׁתַּחוּ לוֹ לְבַקֵּשׁ מִמֶּנּוּ דָּבָר. כאוַיֹּאמֶר אֵלֶיהָ מַה אַתְּ רוֹצָה? וַתֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אֱמָר נָא וְיֵשְׁבוּ שְׁנֵי בָנַי הָאֵלֶּה אֶחָד לִימִינְךָ וְאֶחָד לִשְׂמֹאלְךָ בְּמַלְכוּתֶךָ. כבוַיַּעַן יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא יְדַעְתֶּם מַה שֶּׁאַתֶּם מְבַקְשִׁים הֲיָכֹל תּוּכְלוּ לִשְׁתּוֹת אֶת הַכּוֹס אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי עָתִיד לִשְׁתּוֹתוֹ וּלְהִטָּבֵל טְבִילָה אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נִטְבָּל? וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו נוּכָל. כגוַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם הֵן אֶת כּוֹסִי תִשְׁתּוּ וּטְבִילָה אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נִטְבָּל תִּטָּבֵלוּ וְשֶׁבֶת לִימִינִי וְלִשְׂמֹאלִי אֵין בְּיָדִי לָתֵת אֶלָּא לַאֲשֶׁר הוּכַן לָהֶם מֵאֵת אָבִי. כדוַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׁמְעוּ זֹאת הָעֲשָׂרָה וַרָגְזוּ אֶל שְׁנֵי הָאַחִים. כהוַיֵשׁוּעַ קָרָא לָהֶם וַיֹּאמַר אַתֶּם יְדַעְתֶּם כִּי שָׂרֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲדוֹנֵיהֶם הֵם, וְהַגְּדוֹלִים שֹׁלְטִים עֲלֵיהֶם. כווְאַתֶּם אַל יְהִי כֵן בֵּינֵיכֶם כִּי אֶלָּא מִי שֶׁרוֹצֶה בָּכֶם לִהְיוֹת גָּדוֹל, יְהֵא לָכֶם לִמְשָׁרֵת. כזוּמִי שֶׁרוֹצֶה לִהְיוֹת רִאשׁוֹן יְהִי לָכֶם עָבֶד. כחכַּאֲשֶׁר בֶּן הָאָדָם לֹא בָא לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יְשָׁרְתוּהוּ כִּי אִם לְשָׁרֵת וְלָתֵת אֶת נַפְשׁוֹ כֹּפֶר בְּעַד רַבִּים.
כטוַיְהִי כְּצֵאתָם מִירִיחוֹ וַיֵּלֶךְ אַחֲרָיו הֲמוֹן עַם רָב. לוְהִנֵּה שְׁנֵי עִוְרִים יֹשְׁבִים עַל יַד הַדָּרֶךְ וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ כִּי יֵשׁוּעַ עֹבֵר נָתְנוּ קוֹל לֵאמֹר רַחֵם עָלֵינוּ, אֲדוֹנִי בֶּן דָּוִד. לאוַיִּגְעַר בָּם הָעָם שֶׁיִּשְׁתְּקוּ וְהֵם הֵרִימוּ קוֹלָם עוֹד יוֹתֵר וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֲדֹנֵינוּ רַחֵם עָלֵינוּ בֶּן דָּוִד. לבוַיַּעֲמֹד יֵשׁוּעַ וַיִּקְרָא לָהֶם וַיֹּאמַר מָה אַתֶּם רוֹצִים שֶׁאֶעֱשֶׂה לָכֶם? לגוַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו אֲדֹנֵינוּ אֲשֶׁר תִּפָּקַחְנָה עֵינֵינוּ. לדוְרִחֵם יֵשׁוּעַ עֲלֵיהֶם וַיִּגַּע בְּעֵינֵיהֶם וּבוֹ בָּרֶגַע נִפְקְחוּ עֵינֵיהֶם וַיֵּלְכוּ אַחֲרָיו.
