1Shir HaMa’alot [A Song of Ascents]. In my distress I called unto יהוה , and He answered me.
2O יהוה , deliver my soul from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
3What shall be given unto you, and what shall be done more unto you, you deceitful tongue?
4Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of broom.
5Woe is me, that I sojourn with Meshekh, that I dwell beside the tents of Kedar!
6My soul has full long had her dwelling with him that hates shalom.
7I am all shalom; but when I speak, they are for war.
אשִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת: אֶל יהוה בַּצָּרָתָה לִּי קָרָאתִי וַיַּעֲנֵנִי.
ב יהוה הַצִּילָה נַפְשִׁי מִשְּׂפַת שֶׁקֶר: מִלָּשׁוֹן רְמִיָּה.
גמַה יִּתֵּן לְךָ וּמַה יֹּסִיף לָךְ לָשׁוֹן רְמִיָּה.
דחִצֵּי גִבּוֹר שְׁנוּנִים; עִם גַּחֲלֵי רְתָמִים.
האוֹיָה לִי כִּי גַרְתִּי מֶשֶׁךְ; שָׁכַנְתִּי עִם אָהֳלֵי קֵדָר.
ורַבַּת שָׁכְנָה לָּהּ נַפְשִׁי עִם שׂוֹנֵא שָׁלוֹם.
זאֲנִי שָׁלוֹם וְכִי אֲדַבֵּר; הֵמָּה לַמִּלְחָמָה.
