1By the rivers of Bavel, there we sat down, yes, we wept, when we remembered Tzion.
2Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our Kinorot.
3For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth: “Sing us one of the songs of Tzion.”
4How shall we sing a song of יהוה in a foreign land?
5If I forget you, O Yerushalayim, let my right hand forget her cunning.
6Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember you not; if I set not Yerushalayim above my chiefest joy.
7Remember, O יהוה , against the children of Edom, the day of Yerushalayim; who said, “Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation thereof.”
8O daughter of Bavel, that are to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that repays you as you have served us.
9Happy shall he be, that takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.
אעַל נַהֲרוֹת בָּבֶל שָׁם יָשַׁבְנוּ גַּם בָּכִינוּ: בְּזָכְרֵנוּ אֶת צִיּוֹן.
בעַל עֲרָבִים בְּתוֹכָהּ תָּלִינוּ כִּנֹּרוֹתֵינוּ.
גכִּי שָׁם שְׁאֵלוּנוּ שׁוֹבֵינוּ דִּבְרֵי שִׁיר וְתוֹלָלֵינוּ שִׂמְחָה: שִׁירוּ לָנוּ מִשִּׁיר צִיּוֹן.
דאֵיךְ נָשִׁיר אֶת שִׁיר יהוה : עַל אַדְמַת נֵכָר.
האִם אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם תִּשְׁכַּח יְמִינִי.
ותִּדְבַּק לְשׁוֹנִי לְחִכִּי אִם לֹא אֶזְכְּרֵכִי: אִם לֹא אַעֲלֶה אֶת יְרוּשָׁלִַם עַל רֹאשׁ שִׂמְחָתִי.
זזְכֹר יהוה לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם אֵת יוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָם: הָאֹמְרִים עָרוּ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסוֹד בָּהּ.
חבַּת בָּבֶל הַשְּׁדוּדָה: אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם לָךְ אֶת גְּמוּלֵךְ שֶׁגָּמַלְתְּ לָנוּ.
טאַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיֹּאחֵז וְנִפֵּץ אֶת עֹלָלַיִךְ אֶל הַסָּלַע.
