1For the Leader. A Mizmor of David.
2I waited patiently for יהוה ; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
3He brought me up also out of the tumultuous pit, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a Rock, He established my goings.
4And He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our Elohim; many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in יהוה .
5Happy is the man that has made יהוה his trust, and has not turned unto the arrogant, nor unto such as fall away treacherously.
6Many things have You done, O יהוה my Elohim, even Your wonderful works, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to be compared unto You! If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be told.
7Zevakh and Minkhah You have no delight in; [“You have clothed me in a Body” (from the Aramaic Targums)] my ears have You opened; Olah and Khata’ah have You not required.
8Then said I, “Lo, I am come! In the scroll, a Sefer is written concerning me;
9I delight to do Your will, O my Elohim; yes, Your Torah is in my inmost parts.”
10I have declared righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O יהוה , You know.
11I have not hidden Your tzedaka within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your Salvation; I have not concealed Your compassion and Your truth from the great congregation.
12You, O יהוה , will not withhold Your mercies from me; let Your compassion and Your truth continually preserve me.
13For innumerable evils have encompassed me, my iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed me.
14Be pleased, O יהוה , to deliver me; O יהוה , make haste to help me.
15Let them be ashamed and abashed together that seek after my soul to sweep it away; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that delight in my hurt.
16Let them be appalled by reason of their shame that say unto me, “Aha, aha.”
17Let all those that seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let such as love Your Salvation say continually, ” יהוה be magnified.”
18But, as for me, that am poor and needy, Adonai will account it unto me; You are my help and my deliverer; O my Elohim, tarry not.
